Strawberries and Cream Waffle

We stopped by for a Mother's Day brunch. The patio by the pool is nice. We had sat out there before. If I visit again I'd be interested in sitting inside. The brunch was really good. I ordered the breakfast burrito. It was loaded with all the good stuff: bacon, egg, potato, avocado, salsa. Served on a bed of tortilla chips with a side of salsa verde. My wife ordered a waffle and waffle and thought it was fine. They gave her macaroons to go as a Mother's Day gift, which was sweet. Service was fine. It's always been a tad slow here, but it's ok because I'll spend the extra time soaking in the views and atmosphere.

Good food good service and fun! This is a great place for a late breakfast or early lunch. Ambience is mid century modern diner. Lots of free parking with easy access.

King's Highway...more like highway robbery! The increase in prices since Ace has been bought by Seibu Prince Hotels Worldwide is ridiculous. We could have had dinner next door at Mr Lyon's steakhouse for the same price. $23 Espresso martinis is like Four Seasons/Ritz Carlton type BS. And we had to pay a surcharge to dine in???? I've been coming here for more than a decade. Now, I come with my family because my son loves it. The service is great. Wait staff is friendly, so this is not about them at all! The ownership change is going to drive this place into the ground, it's a shame. We heard several others complaining about the same thing. Even drip coffee is $9 when you can walk next door to Koffi and get it for half the price.

WOW what happened to King's Highway?? If you look at my avocado toast from my previous review vs now the difference is so disappointing. A tiny piece of wheat toast, shoddy presentation, no jammy tomatoes, no sprouts... with a much higher price point?? Same with the breakfast sandwich, no more greens in the sandwich and quite literally just a piece of egg, bacon and cheese under a bun. Also the latte was terrible, it was super foamy and milk was borderline burnt. We typically make an extra Palm Springs stop just to grab breakfast here, but this new menu is NOT it. Sadly won't be returning :(((

This place is wonderful. The vibe is casual hip, and the food is delicious. They have a mezze trio plate that is my favorite. The hummus is the thicker type, which I love, with 2 other dips, grilled pita, and crudite vegetables that are "bottomless". They have a smash burger that is done really well, and their fries are the crispy type. They also make awesome shakes, with the date shake being my fave. Great ambience, friendly service, awesome food. If you're a local be sure to tell them because you get a 25% discount.

A brief update: Today, I had another wonderful and terrific lunch at King's Highway. The Mid-Eastern Mezzo -Trio dish was perfect. The dish is great for sharing: classic hummus; tzatziki; whipped feta; cucumbers; and pita chips. I have eaten here several times now. Ana, our server, is always so polite, friendly, efficient, and just so down to earth - nice. Ana keeps the ambiance super cool and fun. I come here for the good food, the discounts for locals, and Ana's exceptional service. Ana, thank you for making my meals and visits at King's Highway memorable, pleasant, and enjoyable. I will return!

What a Vibe!! Someone suggested us this place for brunch in Palm Springs. The interior is lovely with beautiful details. We had pets with our group so we couldn't sit indoors, however the patio too was perfect to spend a nice time having lunch with live music at the pool and total vacation vibes. We had a trio mezze platter, Fried cauliflower in appetizers. We loved both. Pasta in the main course was okay. It was the only vegetarian option available in main course. I hope they add more vegetarian options. Service was good.

I can't brag enough how fantastic of a server Daniel was the day my friends and I visited in August. He's what one would call top tier server. He was friendly, welcoming, informative, and extra attentive. Serving just came natural to him, it seems. We weren't the only table he was serving. There were several others. We liked him. It was my first time at Kings Highway. I liked the restaurant. It was interesting and unique place. The macramé giant elephant hanging on the wall was a show stopper. Food was good. Will have to come back again to try out other bites

Friday night large party dinner…read more We had a big group and made reservations beforehand. Our table was ready for us once we arrived. They were super busy for a Friday! The bar was backed up so we each ordered two drinks at once to save on the wait time. The Mint cocktails all around. We started with truffle fries to share and the touch of rosemary made them extra tasty. Plus with their homemade ranch! This was too good. We ordered a couple dishes like the charred cauliflower, flatbreads, bruschetta, and short rib. The cauliflower was very flavorful especially with the pistachios. The short rib was a hefty and meaty dish, very good. The mushroom bruschetta was loaded with mushrooms and really good with the garlic chili oil. Shout out to Brooklyn! The most edible item was the date appetizer, but not worth the price for 5 little dates. We ordered a salad, the half chicken entree, a flatbread and the short rib entree. The chicken was so tough we couldn't cut into it and sent it back, despite our rude waiter trying to gaslight us into believing it should be served that way and we must just not like it. The short rib, which came with mashed potatoes and asparagus looked as if it had been sitting under a lamp for an hour. It was cold, flavorless and the potatoes could literally be picked up in one chunk. The disco sun shareable cocktail was good, but we had to send back the crushed olive martini as well. It was pink and tasted somewhere between a fireball experiment and lighter fluid. I would not recommend this place to my worst enemy. There should have been some kind of apology but we were met with attitude and disrespect despite a nearly $300 bill for a mostly inedible meal. The prices are INSANE for being so terrible.

The drinks were strong and well-made, and even though the place was packed, our waitress stayed attentive and checked in with us consistently. It's clear they specialize in more elaborate cocktails, so a bit of a wait is understandable. The ambiance is also a highlight--dark, intimate, and really leans into the tiki vibe. **Night two** was the complete opposite. We accidentally mixed up our reservation time, but since the place was nearly empty, we were seated right away, which we appreciated. Unfortunately, everything went downhill from there. We had a different waitress, and despite being one of only a few parties there when we arrived, we waited **45 minutes** without seeing our drinks--while other groups seated after us were already being served (and even getting second rounds). We eventually had to flag down our waitress, who had hardly checked on us at all. When we asked about the delay, she said they were "very busy,". After mentioning how long we'd been waiting, there wasn't any real apology--just visible annoyance. She told us our drinks were "up next," but after another 20 minutes passed with nothing, we decided to leave after over an hour of waiting. It was disappointing, especially after such a positive first experience. A simple apology or some communication would have gone a long way. Sadly, the inconsistency makes it hard to know which version of this place you're going to get.

It caught our attention as we had stayed in two different Kimpton Hotels in Seattle prior. We wanted to grab a drink at the Window Bar (not knowing that was its actual name, but the conversation we had with the bartender about that window shining too much light at certain parts of the morning definitely gave me a chuckle in hindsight). We happened to be a bit early since he had not been able to finish setting up shop yet. We went ahead and waited until he was ready without rushing him because we ourselves weren't in any rush at all. Surrounded by a ton of nice interesting artwork, it was a pure joy to enjoy a drink or two in this environment. The bar can be found at the corner on the other side of the hotel concierge in plain sight from such a big space for a lobby, directly left upon entrance through the front. Since it was slow in the morning, we were able to chat it up with the bartender and even explore a bit of experimentation in the form of a particular top secret cocktail that every mixologist knows. I definitely exercised my etiquette and reading the conditions to even suggest it. He couldn't be any nicer about our time with him. So yeah, Christopher H. from 9/9/18, I don't know what you're talking about. I make it a point to visit the bar at any Kimpton location nowadays. I always seem to have a good time. That said, much of the food was excellent. The Duck Liver Pâté was incredible, and the Red Thai Curry Mussels were unique without overwhelming heat. The Cacio e Pepe was one of the standout dishes of the week. Those thick noodles were fantastic. We also ordered the Steak Frites and upgraded to filet. Unfortunately, it came out overcooked, and I asked for it to be removed from the check. On the other hand, the Smoked Bone-In Duroc Pork Chop was perfectly prepared and incredibly moist. Neil was welcoming, accommodating, and personally secured a table for our party of six when we returned after 9pm. His hospitality and the venue concept itself are excellent. Unfortunately, the service we received afterward from another staff member, Billy, did not match that standard. The venue is extremely dark, so we used the small table lamp to read the menu. Billy instructed us not to use it because it "wasn't the vibe of the establishment," and told us to use our phone lights instead. The tone was abrupt and dismissive. Around 9:50pm he announced last call. When one guest ordered, his response was, "I guess if you must." Others asked for a moment to decide and were repeatedly rushed. We explained we weren't aware they closed as 10, as Neil had told us it would be open seating after 10. He replied, "Yeah, well I'm closing tonight and I'm closing at 10." When drinks were delivered, they were set down forcefully. As we were leaving, a member of our group overheard Billy speaking negatively about us to another employee, including mocking someone in our group for needing glasses to read the menu and implying she was intoxicated (she wasn't). When this was addressed directly, he did not apologize and instead insisted we had overstayed, which is inaccurate. We ordered promptly after being told last call and left after finishing our drinks. We are locals who intentionally brought out-of-town guests here because we wanted them to have a great experience. It's disappointing that one staff member's conduct overshadowed what should have been a highlight of their visit. I won't assign motives, but I will note that Billy's demeanor noticeably shifted after the final member of our group, who happens to be Black, arrived. I cannot determine why, only that the change in tone was clear. Neil has created something special here. However, a venue's reputation ultimately depends on how guests are treated when ownership is not present. Based on this visit, there is a significant gap between the hospitality the owner provides and the service delivered in his absence. I hope Neil takes a close look at what happens when he's not present, because with the right staff, this could easily be a place we'd want to return to.
