Their 10% off in the month of May by ordering through the website didn't work for me and the workers weren't able to help guide me through it nor were they able to honor it over the phone. Odd right? Anyways, the pork chop rice that came with 3 sides was crispy and delicious. My normally super picky child chomped it all up. They were able to acquiesce to my request of putting the egg w tomatoes (one of the sides) in a separate container. This review is long overdue. I've been here a few times. Although it's a little further then I would like to normally drive out for some food. It's nice comfort food my family and I really enjoy. I wish I had pictures to upload but we usually just gobble it up as it gets to the table. Highly recommend this place. Food is excellent, price is good. Service is decent. We used to absolutely love coming here and getting their pork chop and chicken. The food was awesome every time and we ate here 2-3 times a month at least. Something has majorly changed in the past few months. Maybe it is new cook or new management but the food is now sub-par. The flavors are dull and not delicious anymore. We've gone back a few times just to see if maybe they were having a bad night or hired a bad chef. We politely left feedback and yet the food continues to disappoint. I wish they'd go back to what they were doing before because now I'm craving their old food. We won't be giving them any more chances though unless we hear they've gone back to their old ways. We dined with a group of 7 and they let us know that there would be 18% gratuity added to our bill for a large party. They let my husband know and he was like ok that's fine. However the issue started that we did not see a server for most of our experience and we had to keep walking over to get service. (It irritated my husband because we had just been to a different restaurant a few days ago that was fancier and with a group of 7 and they did not charge the gratuity and we got much better service.) Now on to the food... I ordered the pork chop rice and my husband ordered the same, my in laws shared the beef noodle soup, and my brother-in-law and his wife a son had a different soup, crispy chicken, and some dumplings. The crispy pork chop was very tasty. It was crispy and well seasoned the rest of the bowl was just ok. I have had the minced pork rice many times and I love it. This one had a very mind flavor and when I ate it with my rice and other items could not taste it at all. I was really looking forward to some minced pork on rice. My husband tried the beef soup and said it was not tasty at all. He orders that quite frequently and was sad that the taste was not there. The dumplings were amazing and also the crispy chicken. They did not have popcorn chicken however they recommended the chicken and it was tasty. Over all the food was hit and miss and the service was the usual for an Asian restaurant. Will I go back? I'm not sure as there are so many other places to eat around there. Now if I want a fried pork chop or their version of popcorn chicken then yes I would go back unless I found a place that had great fried meat and great minced pork on rice. read more

She said she got complaints about that already and sad sorry to us.. not sure why they would still serve the rotten egg if they knew. Also they overcharged us after they told us they didn't have the chicken. The waitresses were apologitic and nice but doesn't mean anything when the food quality is so bad. There's no restaurant rating in there either. Came here because of the good reviews. We tried the Pork Chop, Fried Chicken with dry noodles, and the new Spicy Beef Noodle Soup. The pork chop and fried chicken are good. The egg that came with the dry noodle was spoiled. It tasted rotten. I had to spit it out after the first bite. It's supposed to be marinated egg and shouldn't taste like that. I have had plenty of marinated eggs to know how it should taste like. The noodle soup has no flavors. We asked before we ordered to see if it is very spicy. The waitress said it is super spicy, so we ordered it. When it came, it doesn't taste spicy at all and it has no flavor. We asked the waitress and she said she's not sure why.. she tried it and said oh yea it is not spicy at all. We asked for chili oil and they don't have it. The dry noodle that came with the fried chicken tasted off as well so we only had one bite and left the rest. Also, we were the first customer in on a Sunday and I had ordered a chicken rice bowl, 10 mins later they said they sold out of chicken. How did that happen since we are the first customers here? But the food....my God....I've had better at Golden Corral, and I've gotten sick from there. I ordered the spicy wonton dried noodle and my husband got the pork chop rice. The noodles were SO fishy and were inedible. Actually inedible. And I eat top ramen! It wasnt spicy at all, and the dumplings had a strange taste and texture. I MAYBE ate 4 bites until I said omg this is the worst thing I've EVER put in my mouth. My husband goes babe, you haven't tried THIS yet. The rice had tomatoes on top, and some strange meat, the vegetables, which I love me some veggies, I took a bite of one of them, and it was rock hard and I couldn't even tell what it was. His pork chop was barely edible, but we were so hungry, we ate maybe half of it, because, again, we're going to a 5 hour concert and needed some food in us. Never again. Kingchop has really good pork chop rice! This is what they are known for over here and their seasoning and crisp is on point. I cant really find too many pork chop rice spots in Irvine and if I am craving for some Taiwanese food, I will get it here. The pork chop rice usually comes out to $10.45 before tax. Also, they have Pork Chop Noodles which is SOOOO good! They also have Minced Pork Bean Paste Noodle, Beef Stew Noodle (Dried or with Soup) that I usually like to get. I would recommend coming here, there usually hasn't been a line when I come by. Also, they usually give you some black tea or green tea (sweetened) with your meal for free but refills require that you order it. However; when I came they had a check in offer that if you check in, you can get a free 16ish oz of tea. Also, a good place for take out too - call in an order, pick up for at home dinner. Updated review - I haven't been to Kingchops in over two years, but finally decided to give it a second chance tonight. I ordered two takeout meals for myself and my boyfriend, and the porkchop rice did not disappoint! It was even tastier than I remembered it to be in the past, and am happy to start becoming a regular again in the future. I love that the porkchop rice dish is filled with so much variety that you never get bored. Juicy pork, perfect-cooked rice with eggs & tomato, bean curd, and vegetables - I was satisfied at the end of my meal. Came here on a Friday night with my mom for an early dinner. Just like the name of the place, pork chop is good and that's about it. Service is horrible. I would do to-go only in the future. Food: Pork Chop (about $10) comes with rice, side dishes and a large thin slice of pork chop. Side dishes are pickle cucumber, tomato with scramble egg, bean curd and steam veggies. Rice has marinated ground meat on top of it. Pork chop is not super crispy but decent; meat is tender, not chewy at all. Needs to eat right away or oil are soaked at the bottom of the pork chop. Dumplings ($9) The wrap is so thick and no smooth and the meat is too salty. Sadly, even those frozen pre-made dumplings taste better than this. it's not a large menu but do have main courses and appetizers to choose from. Service: Ok. The waitress is kinda rude. No greeting and have attitudes. We are the only table at the time. Yelp check in supposed to have a 16oz Jasmine green tea so I showed the voucher to her, she pointed to the two small teas at the table and said that's it. Just ate here and was honestly not satisfied with my meal. I love zhajiangmian but in my opinion, the portions were too small for the price. Cold cucumber dish was soggy and the tea was too sugary, although that's an arbitrary opinion. They were out of two main dishes that night, although we came at around 7 pm. The table and other things on the table, like napkin dispenser, were all sticky. Being raised in Taiwan for the first 10 years of my life, this place really takes me back to my childhood with its amazing pork chops and the Asian music they play haha. I usually get the pork chop+rice (~$11 with tax and tip!) and it comes with little side dishes such as dried bean curd ("do gan"-Free Chinese lesson lol) and eggs+tomato (fan qie chao dan)! The rice also comes with meat sauce which makes the rice more flavorful. The pork chop itself was really good--it was juicy and at the same time not too oily--which often happens to Taiwanese pork chops as I believe they are usually deep fried. I don't recommend the soup noodle option to the general public because it can be a little bland to people (myself included) who are used to the American diet. I also wished that the "sour cabbage" (酸菜) was more "sour" to add more flavor to the soup noodle :( that's the only suggestion I would make to this place Otherwise I really enjoyed this place as the service was fast and we always get seated within 10min! Also they give you Jasmine green tea for free and it's sooooo gooood! It's sweet yet it retains its jasmine tea flavor, very refreshing! This place really brings me back to my childhood on the island lol and I love it. I've always seen this place listed when I look up food but I'd never gone, so I decided to finally give it a shot! I got their pork chop and it was quite nice! The portions are quite hearty and I loved everything it came with, especially that black fungus thingy (not sure what it's called). So you don't taste the greasiness even though it is deep-fried. * For chicken thigh & leg: I am impressed that Kingchops only uses the best portion of the chicken thigh & leg to serve their customers. The plate only comes 3 pieces chicken meat; but if you pay attention, you will notice that those 3 pieces are in the identical portion of the chicken - meaning that's 3 chicken thighs & legs! - Good flavor: All dishes (regardless it is the meat, the soup, or the side dishes) are not salty (this is very important to me)! In addition, the flour they use to coat the meat is thin, which makes the meat crispy and tasty! - Reasonable price: With above good quality meat they serve, the price is quite reasonable ($9.95 for each pork chop plate and the chicken plat as 10/10/2017). - Generosity: They serve jasmine green tea for free when you dine-in. Kingchops is one of my favorite place for lunch, I usually come to this Plaza at 11:00 AM before the busy lunch time, parking can be tricky at 12:00 PM, however it is mostly the same throughout most Irvine area. 1. Food: My favorite will be the Pork Chop Dry Noodle (#2), the pork chop is packed with flavor, not too over fried, but just crispy enough for my taste. I also enjoy the porkchop soaked in the house special vinegar, as it has a flavorful taste. Personally, I always like it with dry noodle, the size of noodle is not to thick nor too thin, just the right size for me. The add on topping goes well with the noodle with or without the pork chop, by far it is the most consistent, I been working nearby for the past 3 years. 2. Price: at around $12-14 (tax + tip) per person for lunch, the price is about the same for surrounding restaurants, and by far the best pork chop compare to A+J or I-Tea Café. A+J has a cleaner taste to it which is also great, but if you like a more flavorful taste Kingchops is the place! I-Tea Café is also great, but I found the batter on their pork chop/ chicken chop tends to be a little too thick for my liking. 3. Service: Great service, always clean and food ready with in mins of your order. when you dine in, you also get some free green tea! Came here to support one of my favorite restaurants in Irvine during this difficult time. I always order pork chop rice - you can't go wrong with it! The restaurant now works with 7 different food delivery platforms. Definitely a good choice when being locked up at home. The restaurant is trying to reduce contact as much as possible. Tables are now reduced to 8 to increase distance in between. Orders will be placed on table for customer to pick up. Employees wear masks and glove all the time. I've actually had Kingchops bookmarked for quite some time now, we just never found ourselves in the area until recently. My only experience with Taiwanese pork chop has been with Guppy Tea House and Tapioca Express meals and I really looked forward to Kingchops knocking it out of the park. I would have liked the pork chop more crispy as mine was quite soggy. The broccoli, tomato egg, and bean curd were decent but one would think their minced pork would be on point. Unfortunately this wasn't the case and lacked any flavor whatsoever. The same could be said about the pork chop as it needed a good amount of vinegar to get going. Service just average like the food. Upon entering they just said hello and went back to work, leaving us to stand at the front awkwardly. It wasn't until we asked where to sit that they told us its self seating. The complimentary cold jasmine tea was a nice touch but they'll never come back and check on you until its time to drop off the check. One of my favorite places in Irvine! Food is cheap, comes out really fast, and it's tasty. They give complimentary Jasmine iced tea which immediately captured my heart upon sitting down. I usually order the fried pork chop with dry noodles (~$9.15), topped with minced pork, bok choi, and half an egg. On its own, the pork chop has the perfect amount of saltiness in every bite--and with a side of dry noodles and crisp pickled vegetables, you have the perfect meal for a study break. I brought my non-Asian friends here to try some Taiwanese food and they loved it regardless of how strange (or not strange) that combo sounds to you! Taiwanese food is pretty unique when compared to Chinese food (I'm Chinese and Taiwanese). Chinese food has robust flavors and is delicious. Taiwanese food has more mild and 'mellow' flavors and its equally as delicious when you give it a chance! Some people believe Taiwanese food is too "bland" and that's okay but the food itself is made intentionally mellow and soft. There is complimentary green tea if you eat sit-down rather than do take-out. But if you Yelp check-in you can get a free green tea to go. My friends don't like tea but they really enjoyed the tea here. It was pretty sweet compared to some American teas but was just right. I ordered the beef stew noodle. My friends got the pork chop rice combo and the pork chop noodle soup. We like to share so I tried a bit of the pork chop rice - DELICIOUS! My favorite of the three and wish I ordered it. The pork chop was cooked pretty well and had good meaty and braised flavors. It came with the ol' tomato-scrambled egg side and marinated pickles, which was also very good. My favorite in the combo was the braised tofu with the white rice. I really loved it and so did my non-Asian friend. The noodle soups were basically the same except mine had braised beef and his had pork chop. As far as both meats go, delicious. I think the braised beef was much better than the pork chop but if you aren't a fan of some fat in your meat, then perhaps go with the pork chop. My beef bits has some fattiness to them. The noodles and broth get a B-. Could have had more flavor despite the mellow Taiwanese style. The noodle was also okay but I have had better. Not bad though - I'd still order again. However, the Pork Chop Rice combo was the best of the three dishes we ordered. Taiwanese food is pretty good. Try it. Some people don't like it because its not an accustomed taste to them. Its okay but this is how Taiwanese food is made. It is a different kind of Asian food but if you're a Californian who loves those "cleanses" then Taiwanese food would be a good, clean palette that adds to the whole "cleanse" mentality. They are truly the king of pork chops! If you like them crispy and thin, this place has got it just for you! I love the Taiwanese seasoning in the breaded layer of the chops and it's always tender too. Some places make the pork chop really dry, but over here you'll never receive anything close to that. I ordered the chops with the dry noodles that came with a ground meat sauce, some bok choy, a marinaded half egg, and pickled mustards. There was plenty of noodles and all together it was really great! Service was good. Prices were fair for Irvine standards (around $9) for the combo + complimentary drink. Even without the yelp check in they serve you this aromatic sweet jasmine tea which is really good. And free refills too! The only saddening about the restaurant was the fact that it was extra smelly (like toilet smells :() when we went there so it was kind of uncomfortable eating there with all of that wafting in the air... But maybe it was a one time thing. If not, to go is always the other option :) read more
