I would give this guy, Henry, zero stars. Please do yourself a favor and find another repair company. Henry, showed up to fix my refrigerator. He told me that I needed a new motor fan. Removed the existing one and take it with him for model. He told me that take 2/3 days do ordered and charged me $165 ( $65 the visit and $90 the part ). For two months I have called and texted him, dozen of times. One time he replayed to my message that he will be coming next morning. Didn't show up and never answered to my messages, or phone calls. He is a total rip off. He took advantage of me as a senior citizen and basically stole my money. After two months, I called "Petross Appliance Repair Corp." who fix it the refrigerator in 24 hour and charged me, less, and guarantee their work. The gay from King, HENRY is scammer and a thief. I cannot recommend this business. I tried to get Henry out to look at my refrigerator , which had stopped cooling. After scheduling an appointment, I never heard from him to confirm. On the day of appointment, I did not receive a call. . I had to try to reach him several times until finally I get a call back. At this point Henry was one hour late to the appointment. He said he'd be at job site in 20-30min. Another hour went by and still no text, no phone call from Henry. Finally I hear from him and he's outside in his car, waiting for a parking space and says that unless he gets a parking space in the next ten minutes, he'd have to leave. I had to cancel the job. Very disappointing experience. He's a waste of time and effort. Plus he held me up with this fridge repair and all my food spoiled. read more

TLDR: King Appliance Repair is an incredibly unprofessional company. I'm not sure they know what customer service is. If you want a reliable company that will actually show up, I do not recommend contacting them. I called King Appliance on a Monday morning at 9 am and asked if someone was able to come by on the same day to help me with a broken washing machine. I was told that someone would come by between 5 and 7pm. I called at 4:45 pm - no one picked up. I called again at 6:45 pm and although they didn't pick up, they texted me saying they were driving. I texted back asking to get a call back. No response. The next morning, they texted me back asking me what my zip code was. No apology, no acknowledgement that they totally blew me off the day before. So I reminded them that I waited for them yesterday and that I was at work today and couldn't be home until 6pm. They said they'd send someone at 6pm. I called at 4:30 pm to confirm and was told someone would come between 6 - 8 pm. I called at 7:40 pm to confirm and then I was told that someone would come at 10:30 pm. Are you joking? 10:30 pm on a Tuesday is when I should expect someone to come repair my washing machine? Literally still no apology at this point so I asked him why he didn't call me when he knew he'd be delayed - and he claimed that he literally just found out before I called him. I don't even know how to express my anger but I wouldn't wish this frustration on my worst enemy. Do yourself a favor and skip this company. read more

Please do yourself a favor and find another company/repair person. Henry will promptly take your money for a initial service call but then never follow-up to actually fix your appliance. My refrigerator and freezer both stopped working during the July heatwave. Henry charged $50 for the initial service call and let us know that the compressor needed to be replaced. It took another 2 weeks of following up with him every few days to finally get a hold of him and find out that his "parts guy" said the compressor we needed wasn't made anymore. I ended up finding the part on my own and let Henry know that the part was still made so he told me to go ahead to buy the part and then he'd come by to install it. I go ahead and order the $450 compressor. 2 weeks later when the compressor comes, I start calling Henry to book an appointment for him to stop by and he never picks up. I am constantly calling. I have my sister and my husband call too. We finally get a hold of him and he agrees to come at a set time. The night before, he texts me to tell me that his van broke down so he needs to go to the shop to have it repaired and would let me know when it was done. Fine, however the next day I check in with him a couple hours after our appointment time just to see how it was looking and if he'd be able to stop by that day and no response. He completely stopped responding to my texts and calls. I even texted him to ask flat out if he could just let me know if he couldn't do the job so I could find someone else immediately and still no response. So basically I'm out the initial $50 plus the cost of the part and still have no refrigerator for over a month at this point. I end up finding another company to fix my fridge but they do not install parts not ordered by them so I had to ship back the heavy compressor myself plus pay a restocking fee. Total waste of money and time WITHOUT a refrigerator! It seems like he is very prompt and willing to take the initial service call for $50 but then will not let you know if the job is too complicated for him to actually complete. I would have been totally fine if he had just let me know up front that I should find another company to fix my refrigerator so I didn't waste so much time. I rarely leave reviews (positive or negative) however the service in this case was so egregious that I felt it would be wrong NOT to warn others away from this company! I ended up going with Mr. Appliance of Park Slope and it still ended up taking a long time but in the end they did fix my refrigerator. read more

Seemed like a really nice guy, he did an assessment, charged the $65 to come out and was supposed to provide a quote the next day for a full repair. It has been a week, my washing machine is disassembled, and I have not heard anything. I had to refute the charge with my bank and do research to find who they were as the name they charge you from is different than the business name as listed here on yelp. Very frustrating! He showed up relatively on time and told my tenant we needed some new parts. I agreed to the price to order. Told me it should take 2-3 days to arrive. A week later, no update. Henry is very professional and friendly! He came out the day we called and diagnosed a problem with our Maytag gas dryer that we had been struggling with for a couple weeks. Ultimately the entire valve had to be replaced. It was more expensive than we hoped for the parts (labor was reasonable), but Henry had it ordered for us and showed up on time to install it the day the part was scheduled to arrive. Henry is a hidden treasure on Yelp! I found him after scrolling through several listings on Yelp, calling several repair persons who were all booked or not even answering their calls. Henry's answering service answered right away, got in touch with him and gave me a reasonable time frame to expect him at my house same day!! He arrived early with his equipment and immediately got to work on my dryer. Within 30 minutes, including having to replace a malfunctioning part, he was done. He advised me as to how to service my dryer to ensure the problem doesn't recur. His price was so reasonable I gave him a tip to bring his fee up to what I felt was fair for the work done. I called Henry on a super cold day--stove wouldn't turn off. (I figured out how to cut off the gas to it in the meantime.) He asked me for the make and model number, and told me confidently and correctly that I needed a new thermostat. I recently moved into a co-op apartment and right from the beginning I felt the refrigerator was suspect. One day there was ice on the top shelf and another day it was dripping. Then a few days later the refrig portion just was not getting cold even though the freezer was still working. Reading up on the problem I suspected it was the fan not bringing the cold from the freezer. I started calling the companies at the top of Yelp's list. Everyone quoted me what I suspect they thought were fair prices just to come over and then they would charge extra for parts and labor. When I asked if the initial price would be applied to the overall price if it turned out to be something minor one response I got was "I'm sure it's going to cost a lot more than the "Hello, I'm here" price" .At that time King Appliance was 15 on the list. Not only was each place I called expensive with their price but none could be out to see me until the next day. Then I got to Henry. I explained the problem and I was shocked when he said he'll be there in an hour and he quoted a price 2/3rds lower than the lowest price I had before. When he looked at the refrig he proceeded to take off the fan blade, which was blocked by ice, chopped away some of the ice behind the blade and low and behold the fan was running. He suggested that I defrost the refrig for about 12 hours during the night so the food wouldn't spoil and everything would be alright. He was there for about 15 minutes. He could have told me I needed a new fan and motor. What would I know? Instead he said "I was only here 15 minutes. I don't know what to charge you. Suppose you give $ 15 over my visit price and that should be fair" I see now that Henry has been moved up to Number 3 on the list. Well in my opinion, if I could give him 10 stars instead of 5, he would deserve it. He should be A No. ! on top of the list. Very unprofessional. I spoke to Henry a few times and he missed two appointments and did not call me until an hour before each one to let me know. The last cancelation from what he told me was because he got a higher paying job (after agreeing to our appointment) and my apartment was in an inconvenient location for him to make that other job. Initially he said he was stuck in traffic and when I said I could wait he admitted he accepted a higher paying job for the same time. We are so surprised and happy to have found Henry! The great Yelp reviews for him lead us to call him. Our LG combo washer/dryer (5.5 years old) had stopped draining. The extended warranty from Home Depot had just expired and that horrible Asurion Insurance company was too much trouble to work with anyway. I started looking for repair companies for LG machines and came across these reviews for Henry. I called him, he answered himself and said he could come the same day in the evening (about 4 hours after I called). He showed up with his tools and he was very polite and patient. He immediately figured out the problem (drain pump had failed) and he looked up the needed part. He happily told us he had the part in his truck and he had the machine completely repaired within the hour. He was excellent to work with and now the machine is working again. We were thrilled. I highly recommend him (and this is actually my first yelp review). I, stupidly dropped a thin sharpie marker pen down the lint trap of my Samsung dryer. I frantically called around for an appliance repair service and King appliance came to my rescue. Henry came out during a mini snow storm and saved my dryer from the scrap heap. He even put plastic bags on his boots before walking on freshly mopped floor. Henry fixed my dryer in under 20 minutes and did not take the opportunity to laugh at my ridiculous mistake.
