Cinema Zuid is wonderfully non-commercial. It brings classic movies, hip movies,…read moreall-kinds-of-movies to 't Zuid for about 5€ a viewing. There aren't any snacks like the bad popcorn or ice cream at other movie theaters but it does have an appreciative audience. Definitely worth keeping the cinemazuid website as a bookmark to see what's playing.

Alsnog op de juiste dag naar de film van keuze gegaan en een ticket gekocht aan normaal tarief. Op aanraden van de bioscoop medewerkers, heb ik de klantendienst gecontracteerd om mijn eerder ticket terug te activeren maar dat konden ze niet doen ?! Dat was tegen hun bedrijfspolitiek, terwijl ze op geen enkel manier verlies zouden leiden door mijn eerder gekocht ticket te heractiveren

I'm not sure if there is all that much that I can say about these cinemas, though at least I got to…read morego to see a movie while I was in Europe. They are conveniently located near the railway station and has a reasonable number of cinemas so that you can be assured to get the latest releases. For those of us who don't understand any foreign languages, the movies are all in English, or at least the movies that were filmed in English are shown in English, and they have subtitles for those who do have a little trouble with our language. The cinemas were okay, though nothing incredibly fantastic.

Tonight i was standing in - one of the remarkable gems in Antwerp - De Roma; a delicately restored…read moremovie palace from the 1920s. A historic and intimate venue, situated just outside the heart of the city and only a 11 minutes tram ride away from Antwerpen - Centraal railway station (tram 10 Wijnegem and 24 Silsburg, get off at "De Roma", +/- 1.8 km). After a 20-year(!) closure, it rose like a phoenix from the ashes with renewed beauty. In 2003 De Roma reopened after extensive renovation. Today it has been reclaimed as a venue for live music, as well as for movies, comedy and theatre. And maybe one day De Roma will be able to retake its place as one of the crown jewels of the entertainment venues. No doubt, even the stars will shine brighter after a full renovation. FYI: The Turnhoutsebaan in Borgerhout is notorious for being a "bad neighbourhood". Whether the neighbourhood deserves the bad rep or not, it's not up to me to say. But if u want to grab a drink after the concert, i do recommend u to go back to the Keyserlei.
