Dubbed as the mothers of all playground by the author from the June 6, 2016 New York Times article, this beautiful, rustic, run by children playground / park is not adults friendly, in fact, if you really want to come, you must wait outside like a homeless person on a bench out on the street. People soon began to wonder if you really have business to be out there. So to avoid any unwanted looks, go to the nearby coffee shops and / or restaurant. or do as I did, you make friends as you sit on the bench and chat up with other parents. After all, this is a totally the coolest neighborhood. It got the best vibe as it's in East Berlin. What do you know? They are all Americans. ALL Americans. Waiting for their children. Also bored to death. And also, a bit worried. Soon to distract yourselves, you start to discuss Brexit, the rising housing price in the Bay Area, other countries, and the housing price in Berlin. This is where you learn the inner secrets. Where do people go? They go here, this East Berlin neighborhood is super cool, excellent energy and it's filled with a lot of interesting shops and restaurants, and have a rising Jewish community. What do children like to do here? You ask. How the hell would I know? I was yelled at for attempting to take a photo while the children wandered inside. I mean, screamed at. But seriously, do not take photos. And do not sit inside of the arch, they will have games and soon the entire entrance is taken up by children and the counselors. They will politely but firmly ask you to get out. If you are lucky, you are permitted to use the bathroom inside but do not loiter. As you head to the W.C., you see the sign of today's activities. The activities were abundant, today it was archery, baking, and a whole lot of wood work where the children are building wooden houses inside. The verdict from two sophisticated world travelers? A bit boring, the houses are poorly constructed (maybe they are built by kids?), and seeing the parents are not nearby, they were not as settled as they would at other parks. Even though everyone working inside speak perfect English. That said, this should be a great inspiration for someone to write the German equivalent of "Bring Up Bebe". I'll read it if you write it. As for me, a 4 star from the unimpressed children; a 5 star from me, for making new friend with some American-turned into Berliner while waiting outside. We exchanged info, and she'll give me a real estate agency she liked. East Berlin may see a lot of me in the next ten years.

Located right in the heart of Berlin, Tiergarten is almost impossible to miss, as all roads lead to it or through it. Once inside this park, you'll you'll find a very large amount of all kinds of trees, plants, grass, and shrubbery. The park is truly a testament to a vast natural space in the center of a city. You will see people riding their bikes, running, walking, and just kicking back on the grass throughout the park. As urban as most of Berlin tends to be, this park is truly a space for a person to workout in nature or just commune with all that is natural. The one thing I will say, that I find very curious about this park, is that there are very few restrooms. You really have to walk a distance to one if you need to use the facilities. From this, I have seen a number of people, particularly men, just using the side of a tree to relieve themselves. I imagine, as vast as this park is, where there are numerous private places, this is not that uncommon of an occurrence. This is not a criticism, this is just something for your to keep in mind if you come to this park. Be aware, you should know where one of the few restrooms are located before you enter the park, just in case you realize you need to go. Overall, this a great park. A fun place to just walk and enjoy nature and some peace in Berlin.

One of the most disappointing parks I've ever been to. I was expecting something like Central Park…read moreor even at least something like Chapultepec Park in Mexico. Instead it's just a giant swamp filled with bicyclists, nowhere to sit, nothing to see. Very few benches. Sprinklers that spray pathways. It's right next to the Bundestag and Brandenburg Gate and absolutely does not share the magnificence of those places.
