The breads here are consistently great. They taste great and you can tell they are made from quality ingredients. Favorites include the custard and cream buns. I have ordered their fruit cakes from here a few times and seriously the best birthday cake ever! As far as their patbingsu (shaved ice).. it really only gets 2 stars so I would not recommend getting it here. Unfortunately.. I'm not sure where else you can find it in the STL. The consistency of the shaved ice was totally off, with large chunks of ice in it - totally not smooth at all. Moreover, it is tiny for a big price of $7. Stick to the breads! read more

I love Kim's Bakery. My family and I go from time to time to load up on some of the large selection of pastries they have on any give day. My mom always gets a big box of them when she travels here to take home for family and friends. I got my son's 100 Day party cake from here and it was WONDERFUL! It was so delicious and beautiful. I highly recommend this place if you have a sweet tooth like me. This place is like a little taste of Heaven. I went in with family and did a bit of a tasting on a few of their dessert items. I was visiting MO and decided to check it out. The shop was cute and small, which means not a lot of varieties or even much of anything. I wasn't disappointed because I didn't expect a lot from this city. The prices was quite high, at least higher than what I am used to in my area. For a red bean bun I can get for $1 or less, but this place is above that. I think $1.49 ? I got two slices of cake to share with two other people. They weren't too fond of the cream or the texture of the cake. I thought the cake was good-enough in moisture, cream was different kinda sweet, and the fruits on top was perfect. I also got the kimchi coquette (sp) which was expensive, but it was good. Overall this place is average. Will I come back? Sure, because this is better than what I got at another bakery in the town. read more

This is pretty much the only Korean bakery in the St. Louis area. The pastries are delicious, but tend to be overpriced (compared to similar bakeries in other areas of the US) and there isn't as large of selection of pastries, even of what I would consider basics at a standard Korean bakery. Pastries tend to be on the sweet side, and they have a lot more pastries with cream (cream filling, etc) than do other Korean bakeries. But it is the only one in the area, so you end up here if you are craving. There are a few places to sit inside, but I've always bought my things and left. The workers are not the friendliest or the most efficient. My companion once asked for a cup of coffee, and even though we were the only ones there, it took like about 10 minutes to get her a standard brewed coffee. But they've never been outright rude. They do speak fluent English though, so I would feel completely comfortable not speaking any Korean. Would recommend if you've never been to a Korean bakery before, or if you're craving Korean pastries! read more

Such a cute bakery! There's a variety of baked goods, such as sweet or savory. Not only is there a variety but they taste delicious! I very much enjoyed this family owned business! The people that worked there were very friendly and patient with me while I narrowed down my options for what I wanted to buy. My family has loved everything we've had at Kim's. We try to stop by whenever we are anywhere close but also happily drive 25+ min from home just for a fix. The service is always quick and super friendly. Always a good variety of super fresh and delicious European and Asian treats. The sweets are not overly sweet, which I love. This bakery is so good! I bought about 10 different pastries and every single one of them were delicious. I highly recommend the chestnut bread, the pumpkin bread, and the cream and red bean pastry! Also, the man working there was so incredibly nice. They asked my friend and I if we liked pumpkin bread, and we said yes thinking they might just give us a small sample to try to persuade us to get a loaf. Instead they come out from the back with an entire half loaf of bread for each of us! It was delicious too, I was having pumpkin bread toast with my coffee every morning for a week. THE BEST KOREAN BAKERY! Well, the only bakery in the St Louis area. It is actually better than some bakeries I've been to in the NYC and LA area. I LOVE all their items. Red bean roll, mocha bread (my FAVORITE), donuts, castella, roll cake, and there's a couple I don't the names of but they are fantastic. I haven't tried their cookies or cakes yet but they look great! Their sandwich bread is so fresh and seriously the best sandwich bread ever!! They will slice it for you when you purchase. I. Love. Kim's. Bakery. I'm hugely into East Asian food (different Chinese styles, Korean, and Japanese), and this bakery has the best Korean pastries I've ever eaten. Huge selection - the entire wall is filled with trays of different types and flavors of cakes, breads, and sweets. The cream filed rolls and buns are a must-buy for me whenever I go through the area, so I would recommend those highly. The butter breads are also delicious. All products are aesthetically pleasing and make me want to buy the entire store. Completely aside from pastries is the bingsoo, and hear me when I say Kim's Bakery is the best place for bingsoo if you're in west county. The serving is huge, but if you split it with two people it will be perfect. It doesn't melt too fast, which is amazing considering the amount of toppings you get. Mochi, red beans, fruit slices, and sweetened milk is amply piled on the ice, and once you mix it up (caution: very messy), you're in for a heavenly experience. This is a great destination for a cuisine which I hope to see represented more frequently nationwide. read more

This place has the most delicious food and gracious staff! If you're thinking about heading to La Bonne Bouchée, forget it! These people are just so kind in comparison, they smile and greet you with a warm welcome. The girl that assisted me was so kind I had to ask her name and what times she worked, hint it's Tuesday Thursday and Saturday in the afternoon. One thing you must try is the pumpkin bread which unfortunately is only a fall season item. Also everytime I go in, I see that the tip jar is empty! I always have to tip I just can't believe that their gracious service is not tipped so generously. It's the clear cup taped ontop of cash register. I really like the fresh pastries and the rice donuts, but the cake was a true letdown. The icing wasn't sweet and the cake itself was very dry. I moved to Chesterfield from Chicago; I also lived in Boston and outside NYC and was so surprised to find this Korean bakery along Olive seeing as I haven't really seen too many Koreans in Chesterfield. Anyways, this place is awesome!! Best breads (both savory and sweet), cookies, cakes, and, in the summertime, potbinsoo... The goods are fresh and there's a huge variety.
