The place itself is great but we had mixed emotions about it. The main thing is that if you are going to spend your days in Abel Tasman park, you are probably better off booking smth different, such as another waterfront accommodation in town right at the beach or a lodge/Airbnb . We spent all our days in the park, so the little extra we paid for this resort didn't really make sense.
Pros
- nice spacious rooms, we had so called spa room with a jet tubs, overlooking ***partially**** the lagoon in Kaiteriteri.
- beautiful grounds with plants and short walks
- great housekeeping
- staff can assist you with booking activities in the park
Cons
- the lagoon views are tide dependent and not really water front
- the facilities, such as spas, pools etc close early at 8 pm, so if you are in the park all day, you won't get a chance to use them. 10 pm would make more sense
- though it's a short 20 min walk to the beach and activities, it is still not right on the beach unlike another accommodation in town, that has water views. Personally I would not call it exactly close to the beach.
- you probably don't need the staff assistance with booking your AT activities as it's very straightforward
- even though the rooms are nice, I didn't feel much difference from a couple of motels we stayed in NZ. Not sure I would call the place a resort. read more
