Our simply…read more(IKEA)-furnished apartment cost almost 100 Euros a night but we wanted to indulge in something special. Unfortunately, extra costs kept coming up. 20 Euros for final cleaning 16 Euros breakfast for two (bread rolls were dry) 3.50 Euros/day parking fee and to top it off, 8.50 Euros for using the fireplace/wood stove. If you sum up all these extra costs, you're adding another 40% per night! This might have been alright if at least the service was goodbut it wasn't. Despite the extra fee for the wood stove usage and the cleaning cost (which the person before us must have had to pay as well), the stove was dirty. But we didn't want to be those people that complain as soon as they arrive, so we cleaned it and were looking forward to a cozy evening in front of the fire. Only none of the few pieces of wood provided fit in the tiny oven. And there was nothing, not even a match, to get the fire going. We went to the reception to ask for wood. The brisk answer we got was 'well, where am I supposed to get it?'. Eventually we got sent to the Herrenhaus restaurant next door in order to go beg them for some wood ourselves. They, at least, were helpful. The next day we told the staff that we were disappointed to have a dirty stove in the room and nothing to get it lit. We also let them know that we cleaned the stove ourselves. None of the staff even thought about apologizing for the shortcomings in their service and simply said that wood would be provided. We found this reaction to be unacceptable, especially when they charge so much for the room! The terrible service, combined with the pile-up of extra charges did not make us feel very welcome. We felt more like every available opportunity was being used to make more money off us. The charges for cleaning and breakfast are slightly more understandable, but for a room price that high at least the parking and the oven use (in winter!) should be included. And we weren't the only ones who thought so. The couple at the neighboring breakfast table was less than amused about their final bill, especially the additional parking fee. Conclusion: There's places out there with better value for money. At least then there will be no surprises when it comes to paying the bill.

Rooms are clean, mattresses are firm and white bed sheets are white with no stains. The breakfast buffet has a decent selection of warm and cold food as well as juice and coffee. All restaurants are in walking distance. So leave your car at the hotel and start the endeavor. Spent two nights an enjoyed it a lot.

Von der Zimmergröße her voll OK, aber die Ausstattung war sehr einfach. Im Bad hatte man zwar keine Badewanne, aber dafür schön Platz in der Dusche. Fenster war zur Hansastraße raus. Sehr laute und auch befahrene Straße. Schlafen mit offenem Fenster war nicht möglich. Nach Rücksprache mit dem Mitarbeiter vom Empfang war das ganze Hotel am Freitag wohl ausgebucht. Für die Nacht zum Sonntag hätten wir angeblich, sofern frei, ein anderes Zimmer bekomen können. Aber nochmal alle Sachen umräumen Zum Schlafen wars OK. Im Gegensatz zu dem Zimmer war das Frühstück dafür aber der Hammer. Viele schöne leckere Sachen. Und vor allem auch sehr gute Auswahl und alles auch frisch! Da sind wir doch gern ein bisschen länger beim Frühstück geblieben. Fazit: Zimmer einfach aber OK, Frühstück einfach nur super!

I really wanted to give this hotel 5 stars. They have excellent customer service. I found them…read moreextremely friendly and accommodating. The food in the restaurant was quite good and my room was nice. I liked the location too which is on a relatively quiet street outside of the city center. BUT...I found their wireless Internet to be frustratingly slow and, at times, barely useable. I'm not talking about downloading movies! I'm talking about accessing websites like Airbnb or VRBO--both of which I had trouble loading. I finally did access the sites after a lot of frustration but it took me a couple of hours for something which would have taken a half an hour with decent broadband. Also, I have four devices that access the Net--an iPad, a Kindle and 2 iPhones (the older one is unlocked so I can use SIM cards in Europe). In order to get online, I needed different passwords for each device which I had to go to the front desk to get. These would time out periodically, forcing me to enter them again. At first, I didn't keep track of which device used which password. They kindly issued new passwords and then I started keeping track. Suffice it to say that if fast and reliable Internet is something you need, this is NOT the place for you. Especially if you need to upload anything! The download speed was a little over 1 Megabit but the upload speed was a minuscule 0.05 Megabits! Forget about uploading your photos to the cloud (as I was hoping to do). If the Internet is not important to you I encourage to check this place out. Apart from my frustrations online, I really enjoyed my stay! Check out their "half board" option for dinner. You can get a great 3 course meal for less than $20!
