Perfect location because I had time to see them, and decide if I was going to make a stop. I pulled up to the massive set up. The big truck with 2 smokers in back... it was a bbq lovers dream to have a set up like this.. not too mention this is the only one of its kind built like this. I parked close and skipped past the menu and went straight to the man in charge today. This is where I met Ash. I'm not sure how long he was here, but he was busy. In fact, I hope I wasn't crowding him by watching him slice the brisket, making sandwiches, cutting ribs... it was satisfying to watch. After he finished that order, I mentioned that I remembered seeing Buckethead BBQ in local competitions. They have a location in Roseville that they do the cooking out of and you can call ahead, order online, and even show up. It's first come first serve, so get there early! I went with a brisket sandwich (bc I saw it had a good amount of meat on it when I watched him make one) and 3 ribs with a side of their corn salad. He was fast and added a ramekin of their bbq sauce in the box. I jammed home to enjoy a few bites before heading to work. The ribs... are by far some of the best I've ever had! In fact, I'm so disappointed in myself that I only got 3! If you know me, I am a rib connoisseur... and let's just say you are missing out if you don't make a stop at Buckethead BBQ. Fantastic fkn bark. Good smoke ring. Tender as hell, with just the right pull from the bone and perfect seasoning! I like that they put a good amount of meat on the brisket sandwich. Ash topped it with delicious coleslaw and a good drizzle of bbq sauce. I first pulled a slice of brisket out of the sandwich and played with my meat. Yes, I played with my meat. I did the test. It was flexible and pulled apart so easily. Super tender and had a good amount of fat on it... not too much. That's when I started dunking into one of the best BBQ sauces I have ever tried. It was sweet and savory. You can really taste the fruitiness in it, which is my favorite kind of sauce. Smokey... savory... and sweet. I had to force myself to stop eating the sandwich... knowing I was full, but my stomach hadn't registered it yet... plus, the thought of enjoying the rest of my sandwich tomorrow kept me going. Needless to say, I was late to work bc I was indulging in ribs and my brisket sandwich. I'm looking forward to finishing it tomorrow if my daughter doesn't get to it first!

Barbecued meats are somewhat difficult to review because there are many different regional styles and ways the meats can be presented. Many folks love their ribs to be "fall-off-the-bone", but as a KCBS certified barbecue judge, I can tell you that style is not considered competition-worthy. Some like their brisket tender but lean; others find the fatty pieces to be the most flavorful. What I can tell you for sure is that if I had come across the ribs, brisket, and chicken that I had the pleasure of eating today at an official KCBS competition, I would have given top scores to all three. Excellent barbecue, all with the perfect amount of smoky goodness and tenderness. I had the pleasure of meeting pitmaster/owner Dave and his partner Ash. Really nice gentlemen who are deservedly proud of the top-notch barbecue they are serving. They are happy to answer any questions you might have, and they definitely do know their barbecue. Service with a smile makes for a fun experience. One of my favorite kinds of discoveries in restaurants is finding a place that, from the outside, doesn't necessarily promise much. Then you decide to give it a try, and WOW, it turns out to be great. And that's what you will find with BHBBQ. It's a simple stand with an awning, sitting at the very back of a large Raley's parking lot (and easy to miss if you don't know where to look), and from the outside it just doesn't look like it will be special. But BHBBQ is very special, and that is a lot of what makes this barbecue such a treat. One cautionary note: I just happened to find BHBBQ on Instagram yesterday and saw that they were going to be nearby today. They do travel, and so before you go hunting for it, be sure you know where they'll be. They announce their schedules on Instagram, Facebook, and on their website. They also have a phone number. But this one is definitely worth the search if you're into really excellent barbecue. We had the ribs, brisket, chicken, hot links, beans, and mac & cheese. Everything was top-notch. Tastes can differ, but I can definitely recommend this terrific barbecue experience.

In fact, when I pulled in, I opened the vents of my car to allow that smokey bbq smell to fill in. Rub 'n Butts offers the finest cuts of meat and the most delicious BBQ in Placer County (I think the finest compared to anywhere around!) They are becoming more and more popular that they are now open on Saturdays! They offer dine in, catering, pick up meals, or have BBQ delivered right to your doorstep (doordash.) Thusday - Saturday 11:00 am - 5:00 pm They offer smoked tri tip, brisket, beer brat sausages, chicken (halves, too), and smoked spare ribs. They can make you sandwiches with their meats and have pulled pork, too!!! There are sides such as corn bread, their famous baked beans, creamy jalapeno corn, potato salad, and macaroni salad. As I hopped out of my car, John, the owner, was pulling meats off the smoker. He saw me walking in and with a big smile, greeted me! From previous visits, I know that he is passionate about his food. He is so good at it, I have to give him a big THANK YOU so much for sharing his passion with the world! My taste buds, eyes, and stomach deeply thank you! When I walked in, I only waited a few minutes for John to meet me at the register. **For every purchase, you get entered into a weekly drawing for a free platter with 2 meats! He had my ribs ready and packed in an aluminum catering container. It kept them hot for my drive home. I got to say hello to Frank, who was also working hard. Before driving, I took a video of those hot beautiful ribs with the gorgeous char marks, with the bright cherry red color and hot juices running out from beneath them... Oooooh can you imagine how bad I wanted to take a bite right there! The first bite was heaven! The meat is so juicy and tender and I love that it doesn't just fall off the bone... it had some pull to it. It had just the right amount of bark and smoke flavor. It had a clean bite and all the meat still came clean off the bone... it was a dream. It's the exact kind of rib that you compare all ribs to. The meal had hotlinks, ribs, chicken, and tritip. Everything was great I used a bit of the BBQ sauce to try it out but everything was great as is. Baked beans were very good. Not your typical out of the can flavor you get elsewhere. Same goes for the potato salad and coleslaw were good too. Was not over powered by sweetness. This is the first time I have been able to finish more than just a bite of coleslaw. I would recommend this place for anyone looking to please a group or on a day to treat yourself. We visited Crooked Lane Brewery just to sample this family owned and operated food truck superstar. The sandwich board menu had some delish options so I'm thankful our party of 6 was able to order the perfect cross section of food. I chose the chicken philly, hubs got the ribs, kids were cheeseburgers all the way. My 75 years young aunt dared to try the jalapeño poppers. We all shared a bit to get a taste of everything. Chicken Philly was pretty darn tatsy. The bread was soft and fresh. I'm usually only a fan of the cole slaw I make but i had to try this bacon cole slaw. It was simply perfect! I would have never thought I would ever utter those words about cole slaw...pigs must be flying somewhere. Cheeseburgers were solid. Definitely a crowd pleaser. Poppers were good. Not the best ever but creamy and just enough kick. Ribs were "off the hook" said my grill master husband. He bbq's about 4 times a week and he can make anything on the grill taste fire!! Tried Eric's BBQ for the first time today, and man was it good!…read more We ordered the 2-meat plate with tri-tip and St. Louis ribs, along with potato salad and mac 'n' cheese. Everything had the perfect amount of smoky flavor, and it paired perfectly with Eric's BBQ sauce. The ribs were cooked perfectly with a crisp outside and a tender, juicy inside--exactly how I like them. They honestly didn't even need sauce, but adding a little BBQ sauce to a few bites just made them even better. The tri-tip was packed with flavor, and Eric definitely didn't hold back on the portions. There was plenty of meat on the plate, which I definitely appreciated. Both sides were excellent, too. The potato salad was packed with flavor. Potato salad is always hit or miss for me because so many places under-season it, but this one was spot on. My wife and I also both enjoyed the mac 'n' cheese. She prefers hers a little cheesier and creamier, while Eric's version is more baked and less runny. Personally, I loved it exactly the way he makes it. The service was quick and only took a few minutes to get my order. His location is convenient on on the side of the road for an easy pull in and exit. Overall, I really enjoyed my first visit and will definitely be back soon. I'm already looking forward to trying the tri-tip sandwich next, and I'll probably add an order of baked beans to see how those stack up. If you're in the Lincoln area and craving some quality BBQ, Eric's BBQ is absolutely worth checking out.

Yes, many guests and family members told me about the powdered mashed potatoes and frozen chicken patties from Costco and, yes, the pasta was the worst I have ever been served on any occasion by any catering company or restaurant in my 57 years on this earth! We were never served the chicken since it was so badly burned and reportedly disposed of quickly by this "chef;" perhaps this wasn't the first time for him? Having tasted all the food myself, none of this was a surprise. What makes matters even worse is that this particular wedding was a bittersweet event for all concerned: We were all there to help my beautiful cousin celebrate her marriage to a wonderful young man, while at the same time, we were still mourning the passing of her father just a few weeks before the wedding. And the caterer knew all of this! Yet, he did not care. If he had any sense of dignity, integrity, or even shame, he would provide a full refund to my Aunt and to my cousin. It is the very least he can do. Hopefully, he has already done so.
