Chicken quesadilla

Honestly, ordered this thinking it would be great but a new cook is needed! Chicken was over cooked making it dry. I bought two and paid 23 bucks. Do not order chicken there looks like they overcook it.

Tacos de bistek.

Mexican street food served inside a restaurant in the United States. What's not to love? The building is a bit worn, but the food and service are always so good!!! The price is right too. They serve lots of things, but my favorite order is the bistec tacos. $5.50 gets you a plate of 6 little, soft-corn-tortilla tacos topped with all the fixin's - avocado, cilantro and white cheese with a side of grilled onions. The plate comes with a cup of very tasty charro beans and is served with chips, pico, limes and green sauce. There are plenty of other tacquerias in the area and some of them serve comparable food, but this place also includes the sides (charro beans, chips) and they serve excellent aguas frescas. Aguas frescas are the lovely fruit drinks like they serve on the streets of Mexico, only here you don't have to worry about drinking the water. Horchata (sweetened, cinnamon-spiced, rice-milk) and limonada are my favorites although the others (pineapple and cantaloupe) are quite good as well. The pineapple is not overly sweet. Kikis is definitely a must-try place if you are in the area!!!! If you can't make it to this location then try one of the others - Brownsville, San Benito or Port Isabel.

Wow !!! This place is awesome. Authentic Mexican on the broader. Charro beans are some of the best I ever had. Great service, salsa, and the corn tortillas were incredible Must stop !!

Best Mexican food ever! Awesome service and great prices! Would go there again and again.... The amount of food you get is really good for how much you pay. Homemade chips too!

Nachos!

Delicious food, fajita was well cooked and salsa was super spicy. I order to go, and food is usually out in less than 20 mins.

The Kiki's Taco is to die for, and the aguas frescas go very nicely with it (any flavor is good, you can't go wrong).

A Hidden Gem of Authentic Mexican Flavor and Elevated Hospitality…read more If you're searching for a truly unforgettable dining experience, look no further than this incredible spot. From the moment we walked in, we were welcomed with warmth and enthusiasm that set the tone for an exceptional evening. Let's talk about the food: the grilled octopus was nothing short of perfection--expertly charred on the outside, tender on the inside, and paired beautifully with fresh, vibrant microgreens. Every bite was a masterclass in balance and flavor, showcasing the kind of culinary skill that can only come from recipes passed down through generations. The authentic Mexican flavors here are deeply rooted in tradition, yet elevated with a modern touch. It's clear the chef-owner has honed their craft under Michelin-starred mentors. That level of expertise comes through in every dish--from the nuanced seasoning to the thoughtful plating. And then there's the drink: La Paloma de Mi Corazón--hands down one of the most refreshing, clean-tasting cocktails I've ever had. Bartender Benito is a true artist behind the bar, blending flavors with precision and passion. He absolutely rocked that drink! The customer service was exceptional throughout. Attentive without being overbearing, every staff member made us feel genuinely cared for. It's rare to find a restaurant where both the front and back of house operate in perfect harmony. Whether you're a local foodie or just passing through, this place is a must-visit. Authentic, elevated, and unforgettable. Can't wait to come back. The most important part is that if you ask for water you will get FIGI water because Brownsville water has contaminants that are EPA approved but in the long run not safe. GARDENIA HAS CUSTOMER HEALTH AND TASTE IN MIND.

I ordered the baked potato but it did not look like the photo. It was actually smaller than the image on the menu. With a small portion of meat. So you have been warned. Everything is was excellent. The server was very knowledgeable and explain how every dish is made. Ambience is semi casual and nice decor. The have a second floor with more seating. They have a bar and a TV to watch the soccer game.

The server was quick to take our drink order but not as quick to get it to us. There are less than a handful of options for vegetarians. Not many. Their homemade tortillas are really good though. I had the tortillas with a little bit of the cheese. We are a party of two. Husband said that the mollejas and the chicharrón en salsa were good. The margarita too. Cute place. Will probably not be back strictly on the few options for vegetarians. I would recommend it to others though. Friendly, courteous staff. Edit: My original Star review was four. I'm taking one Star from them after reviewing my bill at home. We did not get 10 tortillas de harina. We got the corn tortillas that came with the food that we ordered and five (not 10) flour tortillas additionally. Five dollars isn't much, the point is that they DID overcharge us and I didn't realize it, unfortunately, until two days later.
