I was born and raised in New York City, so I know a scam; especially after I have been scammed…read more This cab company is the biggest scam on the internet in the Tampa area. This is not a car service or taxi service. It's essentially a solo guy that calls Ubers and Lyfts for customers and then charges a several-hundred percent markup. I was on military orders to Tampa for the Navy Reserve and wanted to make sure my time sensitive drop-offs on and drop-offs at MacDill Air Force Base were seamless, timely, and easy. I quadruple checked they had "base access" before I flew out of New York City to Tampa, and they assured me they did before my departure from JFK Airport. The owner assured me that all "of his fleet drivers" are credentialed and that he had a select few that had access to military installations with their veteran ID cards. Upon landing at Tampa international close to midnight, I was informed by the owner via text and phone that "the driver cancelled after waiting for around 5-7 minutes", which I found extremely odd and alarming. I called to voice concern and specifically asked whether he was just brokering or concierging Ubers/Lyfts in the area, and he assured me that though he "occasionally contracts drivers via third parties when he's short staffed" but that he was indeed a legitimate car service with an in-house fleet. The second driver happened to be a recent USMC veteran. As we were talking on the way to MacDill AFB, he informed me that he had no idea who the dispatcher was and that it was a regular ride share outreach with my coordinates / phone number given to him by the company owner. My driver informed me that his guess was that the "owner" is simply a guy who calls an Uber or Lyft when you land after he tracks your arrival with provided flight info. When I informed him that I paid $210.00 to the owner that included a tip, the USMC veteran driver was astounded. I told him that fee had specifically included tips and that he needed to ask for it. After that obviously false-advertising episode, I should have cancelled my return ride two days later, but I was assured again by the owner on the telephone that "they will have base access for the driver picking me for departure and return to Tampa International. I texted four more times over the course of that morning and early afternoon to double/triple/quadruple check that he had a real driver with military access to pick me. I further explained that I could not miss my Tampa to New York flight, because I was connecting to Europe. I emphatically reconfirmed this over the course of the day I was due to be picked up for my departure out of Tampa. Of course, the driver shows up at the gate (late to the pick-up time) and THIS driver also ended up not having base access (AFTER I WAS ASSURED THEY DID MULTIPLE TIMES), and the military base guard turned away the contracted Uber/Lyft driver when they did not have the patience to go through the security process. THE QUADRUPLE-CONFIRMED DRIVER (THAT WAS ALREADY LATE) CANCELLED HIS FLIGHT-TIME-SENSITIVE RIDE! He or she again as literally an Uber or Lyft that this company hailed for me. (Reminder I was charged $236 fee to have a real limo or livery car service pick up me up on time to NOT miss a flight!) When I called to complain that the company is a scam with false advertising, I was berated by the owner. I tried to call my own Uber/Lyft, I spoke to a man named Pedro who regretted that he could not oblige my request without gate access and had to decline. Here is where it gets appalling and interesting: Enraged at the company for their false advertising, I called the owner yet again who berated me and threatened to cancel my trip to Tampa International. He insisted that the fine print said that "occasionally we use third party drivers" to supplement his fleet. I shot back that that "doesn't mean you call Ubers/Lyfts for people when they could do it themselves and that they were masquerading as a black car limo company." The owner told me that he had a driver that could pick me up at the gate, and I then ran two miles in the Tampa sun with my luggage to the main gate to have the company's "new driver" pick me up outside the security perimeter. When I got into the car, it was the same Uber/Lyft driver (Pedro) that I had spoken to just thirty minutes before when I was looking for an alternative! The same man! He was shocked to find out that I paid $236 for two rides, when the company was only paying him $15 for hailing his share ride for me. Throughout our ride to Tampa International, the distraught driver was dumfounded how such a scam could be sliding under the radar and vowed to inform both Uber and Lyft to ban the owner and the company from haling rides. Once at the airport, the owner of the company was caught off guard when I texted him that he had sent me the same Uber/Lyft driver I was just speaking to thirty minutes before. That he literally bilked me (and likely many other
