This is a very good place to come for gifts, or to buy stuff for yourself, Allium stock brands and ranges that other stores do not or from international brands that would be risky to have delivered due to their fragile nature. The store merchandising is always fantastic though I suppose this is a give in considering it is owned by a designer. Allium is not just a store, they offer a free measure and quote service, in store interior and interior design consultations. So if you're looking for inspiration and staff with the knowledge to help you get the look you're after or don't yet know you are after, give Allium a visit.

When you walk in to their new store they have this amazing feature wall that is just breathtaking and what's even better is that you can purchase the wallpaper that it is made from! They offer lots of beautiful products from linen and home wares to furniture. I have always had really friendly service whenever I have been in. Their prices are expensive but you don't come to Teed St for cheap shops so you do expect them. Allium also have a great online store where you can look at their product ranges as well as purchase.

I happened to come across it quite by accident while I was looking for something else in the area and I'm so glad I did. I've been slowly but surely trying to deck out my house The staff are super friendly and can help you out and advise you but leave you free to browse the colourful and creative products alone if you prefer. The guy working in there was really friendly and chatty and I was sure I had seen him somewhere before...maybe on tv? My favourite item had to be their neon pink deer head! Such an awesome modern take on a classic, tradition wall hanging I would die if I got to have it in my room, so cool. This is a fail safe gift store for females, so many pretty things. The range of kitchenware and tableware is fantastic and I am always surprised by how reasonable the prices are, some stuff is actually rather cheap. A wonderful array of ceramic and glassware items can be found amongst the shelves and birds must be in right now because there are bird candles, glass domes with birds on them and birds painted on ceramics, bird ornaments ... feeling like you need a bird something in your home now? I am. Redcurrent also sell Pashmina, the proper ones. They are beautiful and come in many lovely colours. There are a few other accessories, some leather goods and cotton scarves and jewelry. It is hard to walk out without something and if need be, Redcurrent offer a gift wrapping service.

Don't ever go in unless you have money to spend though, otherwise you'll inevitably end up leaving empty-handed and pining after some little trinket you just can't imagine living without. Unless you are a little less dramatic in nature than me, that is. My favourite things at Redcurrent are their plentiful stock of both the small and large Glasshouse brand scented candles, which I reckon are the best ever. They also stay well-stocked of absolutely gorgeous mid-range jewellery, some really sweet gift ideas for babies and toddlers (including clothing and toys), and some extemely lust-worthy handbags. Redcurrent Newmarket is the perfect place to find a homewares-type gift or a not-too-guilty indugence for yourself.

Simply raise the prices threefold and tell people that all New Zealand beach houses look like this and you have yourself a store. In reality, New Zealand baches are full of musty, outdated and badly matched furniture from decades ago. The Beach is the inside of an interior design magazine like House and Garden. Most of the wicker baskets and beach chairs are not going to survive in a closed up, damp beach house. The furniture is all wood, often what would be referred to as possessing rustic charm, while some is oriental in style, brightly coloured in blues and yellows. These are stand out pieces and in particular the draws and cabinets are amazing. They also offer some interesting storage options, shelves that look like ladders, ladders made from wood that serve no purpose but to hang from a wall and large boxes and baskets made from white washed cane. The Beach offers something really different, if you want you home to look Vogue Living worthy then this would be the place to come.

Browsing through the covetable items at one of the cleverly styled Corso De' Fiori stores is an experience in itself! They have some fabulous pieces of furniture that are best described as fashionable, fresh and unique. Shopping here can be a bit of an indulgence but well worth it, in my opinion. It's the perfect place to pick up an unusual wee gift or a little exotic treasure or two for your home. I'd love to get my hands on their latest sideboard and library unit but for now; I'm thrilled to have finally found a store in New Zealand that stocks Malle W Trousseau kitchen implements! I purchased the spice grinder and hand-held mandolin from the Auckland store a few weeks ago. Drop in at the Auckland store and don't be shy to ask Tony and Erin for help, if you are after something in particular - they offer great, personalized customer service. Some of the items in the store are displayed at very close proximity and there isn't really any room to maneuver a pushchair etc., so I wouldn't take young children along. If you have time to kill, stay and soak up the atmosphere at one of the wee cafes in the beautiful historic Jubilee building. It's the perfect spot for a wee lunch-time escape during the week! I had no problems with parking as I was at the Center for a course but according to their website; there is ample onsite parking. I was too busy having fun to take pictures but I have uploaded some pics from their website so you can get a feel for the place!
