Went to kidz shooz today for my son who has a hard to fit foot... very wide. Called before hand and spoke to a nice man on the phone named Luis, who told me to come in and he would help us out. We went and found the place ( btw meter parking ) and found to have a nice selection of shoes for reasonable prices... i did walk out with a pair of sneakers, finally for my son, which he was 2 sizes bigger than i thought ( he professionally fits them himself) and chooses the shoes himself as to what would be the best fit.... i didn't mind that at all as i'm all about the best shoe for my son no matter what it looks like, as long as he likes it....we chose the shoes, he tries upselling socks, we bought the socks lol and all in all a good, personalized experience that a kid would remember and not get at a chain retailer..... read more

The man in the store was really helpful and patient. I don't mind the upsell on socks, seems pretty fair to me actually. Can't speak to the return policy that others have complained about. We had our 1 year old fitted for his first sneakers and boots and purchased winter boots for our 4 year old. I found the selection of shoes to be very good. Will definitely be back. read more

I had a great experience coming here. I found out my daughter was wearing an incorrect shoe size and he gave me options that she would grow into and give me a couple more months of wear. The owner is pushy on the sales (esp socks) but its hard to compete with online retailers these days and honestly Im happy to have had her sized correctly instead of continuing to buy and return shoes online. read more

True, he has a nice selection. Be warned it's somewhat pricey, but there are good shoes here. The problem is . . . why would I go to this store when the service is so lousy and there are plenty of other places to find the same shoes? I have a little boy with XXW. It's hard to find shoes to fit him; I understand. Kids Shooz had exactly one pair of XXW sneakers in his size, and it turned out the style was hideous. So after waiting approximately 20-30 minutes for service in the first place to have my son's feet measured and try on the shoes, I regretfully decided that I wasn't going to buy them, as they were really ugly and I wasn't prepared to drop $50 on really ugly shoes when I was pretty sure that somewhere else in the universe there was probably a pair of decent looking shoes that would fit his feet if I just kept looking for them. The owner of the store snatched the shoes up, stuffed them into the box, huffed off and literally threw the box of shoes onto the counter next to the register. He didn't say "thanks for stopping in," "sorry we don't have more in stock to fit your son," not even "goodbye." It was as though we had done something wrong to even dare to stop into the store and then have the gall to not buy the shoes. It was really shocking. Trust me, I know when I've been rude or given someone vibes and brought that kind of treatment on myself. This is not one of those times. He is simply an ass. Now, I'm sure if you are made of money, have little girls with normal width feet and you stop in to buy three pairs of $100 shoes for them that he will treat you like you're Paris Hilton. Creepy vibe from this store. Brought my daughter in to get a pair of dress shoes. The selection was very nice but the owner was hell bent on upselling both of my kids on new socks and little kid sized purses. Said my daughter's socks 'did not fit right'. Asked my kids, not me, if they wanted purses. How slimy is that? Now I look like the grump when I won't buy my kids purses they don't need. Will not return. read more

He has a great shoe selection and he sizes my kids such that their shoes last longer. That said, he claims to have store hours but they are very unpredictable. I have come early afternoon on different weekdays on at least 3 occasions only to find the store is closed. The answering machine and the store front do not indicate hours of operation or if the business is closed during those hours where you would think it is typically open. So frustrating! read more

As soon as I walked in the door and met the owner, I felt uncomfortable being alone with him. He was nice enough, but very strange and pushy...trying to sell, sell, sell. I bought a few pairs of shoes for my daughter and was pleased with the selection/quality. However, I needed to return a pair because I changed my mind . Given you only have 7 days past date of sale to bring shoes back, I had to wiggle time in to run over to the store to find he was closed at 12:30 in the afternoon. I went back the next day and he was closed at 2:00. FUMING, I called the store, trying to understand his hours. His vague response was "I'm usually here early afternoon to early evening." He would not nail down store hours for me, which I found very irritating. Finally found the store open to which I was only told I could get store credit...not a credit on my charge card. I have decided it's not worth shopping there when the owner creeps me out, pushes sales, does not have posted hours and is fairly inflexible toward store returns. I love patronizing small independent stores, but in this case, I am now a customer of "the other" shoe stores. read more

My wife called to inquire a specific shoe and I went to pick it up. It turns out it was the wrong shoe both in terms of size and ankles. We asked for size 9 and he insisted on size 8 for the particular brand. Additionally, we bought another shoe for $50. I got home and it turned out the shoe was wrong. We called back in order to return the merchandise and they won't give credit claiming there is a sign in the store (not anywhere clearly posted that I could see.) And it is printed on the receipt which they don't give you after the transaction is complete. (doh!) They claimed they are not setup for credit via credit card. (Never heard of that!) There is no manager to speak to -- he is supposedly out of state and "impossible" to reach. Merchandise is new and untouched and within less than 30 minutes they won't take it back for a refund. Needless to say, I will be disputing the charge. read more

We had a great experience shopping here yesterday. The owner was attentive and knowledgeable about the fit and quality of his products. Finding good children's shoes is difficult to do if you like to shop locally. That's not the case if you go to Kidz Shooz. Both girls even got a balloon to take home. The owner of this store is completely dishonest and only there to make a quick buck! I just purchased a pair of dress shoes that had one price on the shoe display and a much higher price at the cash register. His explanation was that shoes are priced according to size. Avoid this store. He is an awful owner. We unfortunately bought shoes from this man. He is a dishonorable business owner. He'll try to sell you everything in his store and sell your kids. However, that isn't even the problem. There was a defect with my sons shoe. A plastic buckle broke less than 2 weeks after we bought it. We brought them back and showed him. He said I can't do anything for you but you can pick any pair of shoes and I'll give you 10% off. My husband obviously said no. The owner claimed he could only replace the shoe if it was defective not if there was a broken embellishment. We said of course not BUT this was the buckle that kept the shoe on my sons foot. He said I'll help you out I have a shoe maker and I don't do this for everyone but I'll talk to my shoemaker. After 2 months ( he claimed it would take a week or two and after several calls) the shoes were ready. We went to pick them up, my son was excited to get his Star Wars shoes back again. I look at the shoes and in place of the black plastic narrow buckle is a big circular key ring! I tried to contain my anger (2 months! And the shoe was repaired with a key ring holder). My husband did the talking and explained that a key ring wasn't a safe fix and that it was dangerous because running around the new fix (large key ring) could catch a stick etc.. My husband said look you didn't send them out just replace them and do the right thing. The guy said no, but we have a bunch of great shoes and I'll give you 10% off! He asked my son if there was another pair of shoes he wanted. I told him not to address my son. I left with the kids. My husband stayed for a moment or 2 and we took or key ring shoes. We called stride rite. They apologized and said that the store owner should have replaced them it was a defective problem with the buckle. We asked if the owner would have lost money on the deal. They said no they would have reimbursed him the money. They told us to report him but on their end they couldn't do anything. They were horrified by the pictures of the defective shoes. They sent out new shoes even before they received our key ring repaired shoes. They said do not allow your son to wear them (obviously) it would be dangerous because they could catch on him and they wouldn't buckle properly. They said if they were us they wouldn't ever go to that store, obviously! They recommended a few other stores that sold their shoes. The lure of his nice shoes may be worth it to some but he is an awful owner, doesn't stand by his merchandise, rude, condescending and tried to over sell to you and the kids. Buyer beware! read more

Great selection high quality shoes. Nice man owns the store. I read some grumpy reviews from people who are offended that a small shop keeper tries to upset them on socks. We are lucky to have a fine business like this in our community still despite all the pressures to consolidate to mall shops and awl-mart etc. How great it is that I can walk from home with my kids and find really good shoes without having to drive to a mega center or a mall 15 miles away. read more

We read all of the reviews before we went to buy our toddler some new shoes. We decided to give Kidz Shooz a try anyway because it was close and we wanted avoid going to the mall. Im happy to report that our experience was very positive! We bought two pairs of shoes for our newly walking little guy. The owner was very kind and helpful. He didn't hover or pressure us, but the store was busy. Yes, he will try to sell you socks with your purchase, but he's trying to keep his small shop afloat. I don't mind that. The only reason I'm giving them 4 stars instead of 5 is because the store was a little busy, the owner was working alone, and we had to wait with a fussy, active toddler. Regardless, we will be going back when it's time for new shoes! read more

Absolutely atrocious service. I joined Yelp just to write this post. Three years ago we moved here and, being new, I did not know where to take my boys for shoes. I found Kidz Shooz and bought my older son a pair of $60 sneakers. Within a month and a half my son had outgrown the shoes. It was clear that the owner purposely sized him without room so that we would come back and buy another pair soon. I did not return. Now, three years later, I was in a rush to find my son sneakers and Sneaky Pete's and Olly did not have any that worked, so as a last-ditch effort I thought I'd try my luck again at this store. The owner could not have acted calmer or sweeter when we first arrived, clearly part of his scheme. He brought three pairs of sneakers to us. WIthin two minutes is was evident that he did not pick sizes with room for my child to grow into the shoes (again). I asked him if he could please get the next size and he huffed a bit. He came back, my son tried two pairs and could not decide which he preferred. The owner quickly said, "why don't you take two pairs" to my son. I told him we were fine with one. He then started to tell my son that his socks were too small (they weren't) and that "he has a good selection to buy him new ones." Catching on to how slimy this guy was, I asked my son if he wanted to think about the shoes a day as they were $70 and he better make sure he likes them. The owner had the gall to say, "Well $70 is not a lot to pay for shoes. I have shoes in here that cost more than that." I almost throttled him. I told him nicely that we were going to think about it for a day. He then swiftly picked up all of the shoes/boxes and started to walk away from us without a thank you or goodbye. My son, politely, said thanks to him, as did I, and he IGNORED US AND CONTINUED TO WALK TO THE BACK!! (just like in the comment before this). I was appalled! We left the store and I asked my children to wait outside for me. I went back in and had to shout to the back stock room for him as he was again trying to ignore me. When I told him it was completely out of line for him to tell an 8 year old child that $70 is not a lot for a pair of shoes, his response was, "Well, most moms around this area don't think that that is a lot." I then said that it was very bad business practice to ignore a customer when a product does not work for them. He again had gall and said, "I didn't hear you." As the poster above said, this guy is a complete ass. Rude, creepy and clearly not a respectful business owner. We went back into Sneeky Pete's after and received the most AWESOME, POLITE, RESPECTFUL service. They found a pair for my son that wasn't even out on the floor yet when we had been there an hour earlier. AND, the sneakers were $45... half the price. The sales clerk at Sneeky Pete's suggested right away a half size bigger... I didn't even have to ask him. If you need local service from an experienced, family-owned store, head to Sneeky Pete's. DO NOT SHOP HERE!!!! Does not even deserve a one star rating. I went in for a pair of sneakers for my 4 yr. old. He measured her foot and brought out shoes for her, totally ignoring the choices we were making from the display. The shoes he brought out were not even on display in the store, which should have put up a red flag. He tried the shoes on her telling her that these shoes were "as fast as the wind". So, of course she said yes. Three weeks later the entire soles of the shoes started separating from the body. I called him and he asked me to describe the shoe and quickly said "come in and I will REPAIR them". I do not want to pay full price for a shoe only to have it repaired three weeks later. I called Nike to find out that he is not an authorized dealer of Nike and that the "NEW SHOES" he sold me were in fact 9 years old! I am disputing the charges on my credit card and going in today to see if he replaces these with an actual NEW pair of shoes or refunds my money. I will post what the result is but I am not too optimistic....to be continued. UPDATE: So we went into the store and asked to be refunded or have a replacement NEW pair. He denied that the shoes were manufactured in 2007! Which Nike's corporate office actually confirmed. He said there are no refunds and did not even apologize. My 4 year old told him, "You're a bad man and liar." That of course broke my heart so I took her outside while my husband talked with this man. He said the owner doesn't speak with customers and lives in Maryland. We are contesting the charges on our credit card and reported this business to the better business bureau. I have been going to this store for years. Once you get to know the owner, he's not that bad. I acknowledge that he absolutely tries to sell you more than what you came to buy - for example, if you come in for dress shoes, he will then ask if he can show you some snow boots.... As long as you know this, it is easy to say "no thank you". In some ways, it amuses me. On the other hand, he is trying to make a sale, and though his tactics might be a bit pushy, he is a small shop owner in a time when that is nearly extinct. So why do I buy most of my kid's shoes here? He absolutely has the best selection of shoes especially dress shoes. His selection is far superior to Nordstrom's or Olly's. And yes, his shoes are pricey, but really no more than any other high end shoe store. He also has a large stock, and almost always has the size you need. And, the owner has grown on me over the years..... read more

The owner of the store is a nice gentlemen, but very dishonest. I called and asked if he had any girl sneakers that was a size 3 wide, as my daughter has wide feet. He assured me he did. I went to the store he measured my daughter feet and brought out a couple of sneakers for her to try. She picked the ones she liked, and I asked the gentlemen if the shoes were a wide and he assured me again that they were and she would have plenty of room. I get home to find out that the shoes were a size 4 med. Therefore I paid 70 dollars for a pair of shoes I could of purchased elsewhere for 35. I would stay away from this store and shop for you Childs shoes somewhere else, unless you have money to throw away. I am very disappointed in the service of this store. He never said he did not have a wide and would be selling me a Size 4. I only went there because I thought he carried wide shoes. Of course he has a all sales are final sign, so you can't return them. I will never shop at this store again, and I will let everyone I know and everyone in my social media know not to shop here also. read more
