My daughter attends a local middle school and is in the orchestra program with a cello loaned out…read morefrom the school. She recently tripped over her cello, accidentally, and nicked the bridge, which resulted in it loosening one of the strings. I thought it was a major repair but after getting it "diagnosed" by Janelle, the damage wasn't so bad. She assured me that it was going to end up even better after the repair- and she was right! The tech was able to custom fit the bridge and positioned it better than it was originally, giving the cello a better sound overall. What I thought was going to be more than $100 ended up being $70 and ready within two days. They're affordable and accommodating- I'm definitely coming back. The only downside is that business hours are from 10-5pm and closed on the weekends- so you basically have to adjust going into work to come here.

They replaced the foot joint pad on the flute, but my sister can't play it at all now since it can't open the key from the pad being too thick. They also charged us like $40 to "fix" the clarinet rod from falling and it still keeps falling off. I was recommended this place from when I was in high school, but I can't recommend going here for repairs since it seems like they'll charge you for doing a really bad job if doing anything at all.

The guy who answered said it could be done same day, or could take a couple days, depending on how many guitars are in line for repair. Thankfully he also told me the tech was coming in in a few days, on Thursday. When I brought it by on Thursday, I got to speak to the tech & show him the guitar. He explained the 2 options and what's included for the price. At first, I was experiencing sticker shock - I'm not a musician, so I didn't expect things to be that much! BUT I bought the guitar for my kiddo 5 years ago & hadn't done any kind of upkeep, so I bit the bullet & went with the higher option. Vincent, the tech, surprised me & got it done in just a couple hours. I was able to pick it up before closing time, which was a nice surprise for my boy. Man. I am glad I went with the top deck (something) option... it looked like a brand new guitar! He really did a terrific job - the wood looked all smooth & conditioned, the strings were tight & low, it was even tuned... my son was verrry excited about it! This is where we bought the guitar, and we'd definitely go back to this Guitar Center for repairs & future purchases! I love that they sell used gear too.

I've finally had enough of this craphole store and company in general and today sent me over the…read moreedge. This is nothing personal to any employee there (okay maybe) but I spent over $1000 in bass set up earlier this year (no breaks full premium ones at that that I didn't ask for, you would think MAYBE they'd do a 5%-10% off deal after 5 of them for a regular customer). Anyway, brought a used older rare bass in (little information online on what they are worth for that matter) to sell around 11am on a given day. The first sales associate named George told me he needed a tech to evaluate it first (guy wasn't in until 1pm so had to wait 2 hours).. but he could write up a ticket and give me a quote based on ones previously sold online which is their company policy for appraising gear. That quote (minus any repair work yet which it didn't need) was between $300-350, cool. Came back after 1pm, tech was in finally. Nothing wrong or at least nothing THAT pressing where it needed a set up where I would be charged $70 from the quote buy price. Tech starts tinkering adjusting truss rod and strings then says "oh look the neck needs a shim and this and that" after he made adjustments to it which it didn't need. Their purchase of your guitar will always be LESS set up costs (it's a total scam, any guitar or bass will need tiny bits of this or that because they are trying to skim more of their purchase price off you, but this bass was 100% playable and surprise, already set up by another GC recently so it was a test that you guys failed). So back at the register on the second trip, the first associate again helping me now suddenly all of a sudden isn't sure what price GC can buy it for (even though we found a listing of the exact same bass online previously and agreed to it). Because I questioned the hesitation, he now passes the info to the sales manager and he sends pics to some offsite ghost team of appraisers at corporate. After a 30 min wait, he says the best they can do is $150 minus the $70 fake set up it didn't need. This bass would end up next week on their wall for sale for $524 the first associate told me anyway. I wasted nearly a whole day off to get jerked around. If I could give zero stars I would. NEVER EVER SELL YOUR GEAR TO GUITAR CENTER, they lie, cheat and waste your precious time. If I wanted to get low balled that bad I would sell it on Craigslist. All of the above statement is true and honest to my knowledge of times and dollar figures discussed with sales associates at the Brea Guitar Center. YMMV but I would run far away. After all the money I spent at this store this was the straw that broke the camel's back..SUPER UNPROFESSIONAL staff and Scamming buy policy.

The pricing is competitive. The owner, Peter, has an extensive background as a classically trained pianist and is very patient with the little ones. He also provides individualized student attention and feedback within a group class environment. I appreciate how the hour long class is divided into different parts, varying from individualized instruction, group lesson on a white board (teaching fundamentals/concepts), and the finale - playing on a grand piano. There are students of varying skill levels learning together but the more advanced students serve as examples and inspiration for the junior students. It's amazing to witness progress as the weeks go by. The studio has ample room for classes and parking alike and at times snacks are available for the students, sweet! I highly recommend this studio and my kids feel comfortable and more confident as time progresses. Five stars!
