Goodwill Retail Store and Donation Center

My favorite goodwill to shop in. Clean, quality items displayed well and friendly employees.read more

This is honestly one of the most disappointing experiences I've ever had--especially from a…read moreso-called charitable organization. This morning (9:52 AM) at the Goodwill in Pasadena, MD, I brought a donation of children's books and toys. My wife--who is pregnant--spent hours going through our kids' belongings to make space for our new baby. Everything we brought was clean, usable, and intended to help other families. I was told they couldn't accept the donation because they don't open until 10 AM. Fair enough. I explained I had to get to work and asked if I could leave it. They said no. Again--fine. So I asked a simple question: "Can you just tell me where this should go?" Instead of helping, the employee took the bag, threw it directly into the trash, smiled, and waved goodbye. Let that sink in. Perfectly good children's items--thrown away, on purpose. When I confronted him, I was met with disrespect and name-calling. Another employee refused to identify themselves. The manager, Rob, said he would "handle it," but that was the extent of it. This wasn't just poor customer service--this was a complete failure of what Goodwill is supposed to stand for. We donate regularly. We support organizations like this because we believe in helping others. Watching items meant for kids get thrown in the trash like that--while being mocked--was honestly shocking. We will not be donating here again. I strongly encourage others to reconsider where they bring their donations.
