Green tea fried ice cream
Marina S.

I was pleasantly surprised by this place. It is tucked away at a very nondescript plaza and you wouldn't think much of it, but the food is good, the service is great, and the ambiance is classy and cozy. They also have bubble tea and fried ice cream.

Teriyaki Lo Mein with Chicken

First time visit was a success! We dined in during their Tuesday Specials menu and was pleased with the food and service. We were immediately seated and asked if we wanted drinks. After our drinks came, we ordered our food. The food was made fresh and were big portions. The chicken teriyaki were tasty strips with carrots, broccoli, onions, and mushrooms (which we took out). The chicken noodles came in a big bowl, but was missing a little flavor. The Shrimp teriyaki had many jumbo sized shrimp. It took a little longer to make but was good overall. I will definitely return to try some varieties of food.

What a Roll, Shrimp Tempura Roll, Salmon Avocado Roll

Tried the sushi this time and yum -- enjoyed my meal much more! The fusion rolls get a little pricey though Service was attentive and polite as always at Kicky's! Dim lighting gave a more sophisticated, but still casual vibe for dinner.

Avocado Roll, hibachi fried rice, and chicken teriyaki
Samantha S.

We haven't been to Kicky's since pre-Covid, but it did NOT disappoint. They run weekly specials for dine-in, making their sushi, entrees, and noodles incredibly affordable, pending the day you choose to go. It was crowded for a Thursday night, but our server was moving quickly and we always felt attended to. Being BYOB is a plus too, as we were able to enjoy a glass while looking over the menu. I ordered two sushi rolls (avocado) and capitalized on the discounted noodles by getting hibachi noodles and egg fried rice (no veggies). My husband ordered chicken teriyaki (as my honorary meat eater). The rolls were fresh! (Only complaint- they came out after our meals / noodles.) The portions were so large, it looked like we didn't even touch them. (We did and all enjoyed our food.) We definitely be back soon!

I've been here many times, both for in person dining and takeout. The food quality has varied. The menu is fairly large and the rotating dine in specials on different days of the week are good. Without the specials, though, it can be pretty pricey for "ok to good" quality food.

I go all the time and have my usual favorites and have never had a problem. The last time i went in was during the daytime and i was sat where i had a view of the fancy sushi chefs out front chopping sushi. To start off, the place reeked. dont know what was going on but it was awful. Then, one of the sushi chefs must have been sick or something because he was coughing and SNEEZING fully onto the food he was working on without covering his mouth or turning away or anything. He then went on to do this a few more times and wipe his face with the gloves that are supposed to keep the food sanitary. If the chef that is visible to the customers right out front is visibly sneezing into the food thats being sent out and NONE of the other workers care?! then i dont even want to know whats going on in the back kitchen. I work at a little ice cream store and we are 1000% more careful and hygienic than this place and we don't even cook food. Absolutely disgusting. Don't know if I can go back

We were greeted at the door and were aloud to pick our seat. The ambience is such a cool Asian inspired atmosphere. Mural on the wall, little table top waterfall on the sushi station, bonsai and other nicknacks on the shelves and tv showing peaceful marine life. The menu is very sushi dense, with the whole first 3 pages being sushi. I got the shrimp tempura, dragon roll, and Philly roll with a miso soup. My partner got the green curry, miso soup and white rice. My sushi rolls were so delicious, perfectly fresh, and just so yummy. Shrimp tempura roll 9.0/10 Dragon Roll 8.7/10 Philly Roll 9.1/10 The green curry was different from what we've had in the past, it came out in more of a curry soup. It has baby carrots, onions, chicken, corn, and potatoes. It was my first time trying curry and it was pretty good. 7.8/10 Overall my experience here was nothing but positive. Seemed clean, the wait staff was very attentive, bathroom was clean, service was fast, and atmosphere was cool to look at. The bar honestly wasn't high, but this was probably the best dining experience I've had in Keyport,…read moreor close to it. I came here this past Saturday for an early dinner with the Millennial Chum and Co. I've driven or walked by this place a bunch of times, and I've always liked the exterior - it reminds me of an NYC Irish bar, if that makes sense. Not what I'd expect from a sushi establishment. I will say as a caveat that it IS smaller inside than I expected; it's basically one narrow corridor, so as a result it doesn't really have an opportunity to flex its interior design muscles too much. Not really a negative per se, and not something I think they can really do much about unless they move somewhere else with more square footage to play around with. I was a little apprehensive when I looked at the menu and saw they were boasting multiple Asian genres, including the aforementioned sushi but also some Thai, Chinese and Korean. (No, I didn't realize it was Asian fusion, which would have immediately explained this.) In my experience, having TOO varied of a menu can blow up in a restaurant's face, but regardless I came to try the sushi and went right to the special rolls. I opted for the Lover Roll and the Volcano Roll. The Volcano was okay for the most part - this was on me, but I didn't realize it had jalapeno in it, which is clearly referenced in the menu. I don't mind it from a taste perspective, but I hate the crunchy texture in a sushi roll (same with cucumber, which is a sushi dealbreaker for me). It was very easy to remove, and otherwise a perfectly fine roll. I think presentation value-wise it could use something since it basically looks like a pile of sawdust with the lobster salad on top, but it didn't diminish the taste. The Lover is excellent, and I wasn't too surprised to catch multiple sightings of it on other plates as we were walking out. The optics on that one were very unique, a bifurcated heart shape with a heavy dose of predictable pinks and reds. I hadn't really thought about it until now, but my sushi taste tends to go pretty savory with an emphasis on spicy tunas and wasabi mayo, that kind of thing. This is definitely on the sweeter side, which I'm assuming is primarily because of the honey. Regardless, it pairs really well with the rest of the ingredients. One of the better new sushi rolls I've tried recently, and it doesn't seem like I'm in the minority on that one. The service was very good; the Millennial Chum has been here before and said she'd had some issues on prior visits. Thankfully not a problem on this particular adventure - everyone had plans later in the evening and we were able to get in and out of here pretty quickly, probably within 40, 45 minutes or so. The price point wasn't bad either. Admittedly I'm used to being gauged on the regular in Midtown Manhattan, but special rolls being around $15 are a treat in and of itself. I'm not going to say that this is mouth-droppingly amazing sushi, but I think you have to grade on a slight curve in this area - Monmouth is pretty much a barren wasteland when it comes to its gastro offerings so when you find something decent, it's worth noting. Nemo is worth noting.

Still the absolute best. I love that you can get sushi and a variety of so many wonderful dinners…read more In the summer there are fabulous views sitting on the deck looking at the water.
