It was a nice alternative to the wurst, kebab and Chinese fast food joints which dominate the German takeaway trade As you enter the store, you can smell and see the whole chickens rotating and cooking on the rotisserie, which gets the gastric juices going. The menu is simple - the chicken is sold as halves (2.90 Euros) or whole (4.90 Euros). You can then add French fries and salad if you wish. I found my half chicken and small fries plenty for lunch I like that they give you proper cutlery if you eat in. The skin had some lovely spices and the leg and thigh were perfect and juicy. The breast was a little dry but almost inevitable if you cook the chicken whole I think the name of the shop is most appropriate. I watched the lady tend to her chickens lovingly like a mother hen though of course in this case, the chickens have already been sacrificed in a good cause!

However, Westerwälder Hähnchenbraterei seems like a chain, and they have a website that shows various trucks' schedules and locations in Germany! This food truck has whole chickens roasting inside, and you can see and smell (oh my god, just the aroma lures you to the truck) them. You can either purchase whole roasted chickens, or just parts. We ended up getting a pork sandwich. It didn't seem like they had a chicken version of the sandwich, otherwise I would have definitely tried that instead. The pork was soooo good though! It had a thick slice of pork (mostly meat, barely any fat) on toasted bread, with onions. Simple sandwich, but the pork was tender, and very well-flavored. I think it was less than 5€ for a sandwich, but the sandwich was pretty filling. All in all, you have to try it if you come across this food truck! NOTE: CASH ONLY!

The server was from Seattle so it was nice to have a server that was extremely fluent in English lol. I'd definitely go back for the wings!
