Being a bit shy of walking into places where there is seldom a woman in there (I have never seen one) my sense for trying food got the better of me - and it was a long time coming. I asked the guys "what's good" and they suggested barbeque chicken (they must have read my mind - hehe!) So I got half - yeah - that's right half a chicken. It comes with either rice, chips or naan, plus a bit of salad. I just had the salad and got a spicy sweet chilli sauce and a cooler cucumber mint sauce - To Go. £3.00, what a bargain. My stomach was rumbling and I couldn't wait to get home and tuck in. Whilst at the counter I noticed a huge circular rotisserie with hot charcoal and at least 10 large spatchcock chickens being cooked....aaah now I know where that smell comes from. More of a eat and run environment, and now I have been brave enough to step in and order, as Arnie would say "I'll be back". Getting home I was not disappointed. Tender chicken, gently seasoned, and let me say, a very generous half of chicken, my eyes are obviously bigger than my belly. I was full. Fried chicken is also available, but I need to do a more detailed scout. Like I said ignore the spartan decor, just try the food. Well worth a try.

A busy chippy on a Friday lunch time is a good sign, but the queues were almost out the door. Fishtastic's combined a traditional fish and chip shop (counter, typical menu range) with modern practices - cardboard boxes instead of waxed paper and sustainability info. On the wall is helpful screen showing where their current fish stock was sourced! I ordered Haddock out of habit as I prefer to have my fish cooked to order, but their Cod was sustainable too. The fish was cooked perfectly, chips were kept hot without going soggy (probably down to the box) and a can of Cream Soda washed it all down a treat. Fishtastic is a little out of my way, but for quality fish and chips like this I'll be coming back! Keep up the great work.

The food is second to none, prices are a little more expensive than other local shops but you pay for what you get. Only thing lacking is the service which can be a little slow at times but the food makes it worth the wait. All fish is prepared fresh for you giving you the comfort in knowing that it's fresh all the time. Also nice to see a 'massive' selection of fish for you from cod to hake and skate. Well worth a try

Ordered a bottle of wine and not provided with wine glasses did they assume I would drink out of the bottle (I am properly brought up). Workmen hauling building materials through to upstairs didn't know I needed to bring a hard hat and regulation work boots. For a place that boasts its all about the chicken well, not today.
