There were so many things wrong with my experience of this agency it's hard to know where to start.
The tradesmen that they sent out to look at my house consistently tried to fix the wrong thing. When I got second opinions as I was suprised at the amount of work that suddenly needed to be done, Keys told me, in a quite aggressive tone, that their tradesmen would do the job at about a third of the price of any other tradesman and that other tradesmen were all on the make.
During the tenancy their inspections were sporadic and they assured me that the tenant was looking after the house well inspite of charging me for fixing damage caused by the tenant (which I wasn't billed for until well after the tenant moved out).
After the tenant moved out, they placed her with a different landlord, but didn't get any references from me as her previous landlord. I don't know where they got their references from either before she moved into my house or before she moved into her next house, but had I known that her most recent landlord was not one of the referees, alarm bells would have started ringing. Unfortunately for me these alarm bells only rang when the tenant moved out and I saw the state of the house.
All in all, they are cheap (they only charge 10%) but the amount of work and the hassle they cause means you'd be better off either going with an agency who charges more, will get proper references and will ensure your house is well-maintained, or else just managing it yourself. read more
