If at all possible, I would avoid this supermarket at all costs; although prices & selection are average, the customer service is sorely lacking in accommodating even the most loyal of neighborhood customers--who really have no other choice in food-shopping due to proximity & ,unfortunate, convenience. I try to stay clear of phthalates & all extraneous packaging--especially plastic--in my food purchases as it has been proven to leech into the food/beverages: the Deli would not accommodate me in this simple request that actually saved them money via packaging resources, where the employee & the manager spuriously argued with me & effectively banned me from the Deli when I returned cheese slices that I requested ONLY be wrapped in butcher/wax paper. Outrageously unreasonable and I never experienced this in a store before (moved here about a year ago & no deli EVER gave me a problem about this request).
I've been accused of being suspect of shoplifting when returning a package of tea--WITH A RECEIPT, MIND YOU, although they refused to substantiate it on their video--what with the Keystone Security there: NOR WOULD THEY REFUND MY PURCHASE AFTER THIS SPURIOUS ACCUSATION: rest assured, were I to shoplift--it certainly wouldn't be for Herbal Tea.. And rest assured, you will get major attitude from both customer service and cashiers--don't dare & ask for a price check on incorrectly tagged items--a cashier actually threw my 50 lb. bag of rice off of the scanner & began arguing with me when I informed him that a stocking employee gave me another price than the one scanned at. I walked off the line--ANOTHER FIRST FOR ME AND I'M NEAR 50 YEARS OLD!!! If you are a regular customer here--rest assured, every couple of months there will be an incident where the reasonable patron is never right as you get more employees on bad days than not. I HAVE NEVER WRITTEN A DISPARAGING REVIEW ON ANY ESTABLISHMENT IN MY LIFE; however, so egregiously galling are these overblown employees, that hell, whenever prices are the same, or even more expensive--I will walk 2 miles out of my way (round trip) to Stop & Shop to avoid the next conflagatory eruption of the disgruntled & pathetically sad employees at this "customer disserviced" store. To this day, most of my attempts at polite acknowledgements/greetings at the employees are ignored when not scowled at. I have never encountered such an amateur operation & frankly am shocked that more customers are not calling out the employees on their atrocious service. Complaining to management has been futile as well. This Key Food should be razed to the ground--something that JUST MIGHT justify the scowling attitudes of the impertinent employees. GET OVER YOURSELVES, YOU ONLY WORK IN A BLOODY FOOD SHOP FOR GOD'S SAKE. Regularly & unwaveringly disappointed by this amateur operation. I very much hope their Corporate Offices get a wind of this.
AND, I've not even mentioned that even after repeated requests that the bottle/can redemption machines are full & in need of emptying--customer service & the porter in charge of that will have respective customers wait AT THE EMPLOYEE'S convenience for up to 1/2 hour & longer. Wow but what the horrorshow. Beyond belief. They certainly do't wait for anything when taking our nickels!
You can absolutely bet I'll be in touch with the Head Manager to cite this review. Such affronts really compound into major insult & proof of insolence when these horrid disservices are just business as usual at this here KEY FOOD OF ROCKAWAY PARK. Unfortunately I am stuck living in Rockaway Park--I don't know why Google Sign-In is showing my location as San Francisco--haven't been there in years. read more
