On 2/23/18, I met with Kevin Sisco to discuss my divorce. I Gave him a $2500 retainer. And was directed to fill out some paperwork. I checked in with him various times in order to impress him how desperate I was as my husband was not giving me the same amount of money he had been giving me. On 4/4/2018, Mr. Sisco assured me the the divorce had been filed during the previous week.
I was notified by my husband and his lawyer that their attempts to contact Mr. Sisco were futile and that he would not return any type of correspondence. He assured me that was not the case. I inquired what my $2500 retainer covered and he told me filing the complaint and the filing fee would have used up half of the retainer. The motion would take up the rest and more. He gave some excuses as to his lack of accessibility, noting that he had been busy with other cases. He assured me the ball was rolling and had me fill out the financial disclosure which was submitted 6/5/2018. I repeatedly asked him for my docket number and he ignored my requests or told me it was not in front of him. Unfortunately, he never filed anything.
On 8/7/2018, I requested he refund my money so I could retain another attorney. Despite several contacts, he did not respond until I let him know I would be filing a grievance. He assured me on 8/9/2018 that his office dropped the ball on the proceedings, he apologized and said that he submitted a check request for my money to be refunded. As of 10/20/2018, my money has not been refunded and now my husband has filed for divorce and I cannot afford to retain a lawyer to represent me. read more
