I decided to sit outside as there wasn't any air conditioning on and it was a little warm. I say on this really cute bench they have near the door. I ordered a coffee with some milk and got a piece of carrot cake. The barista working there did speak English which he switched to when he noticed I was struggling with German. It came out to 5,80 for the cake and coffee. The milk was actually warmed and a little frothy which was perfect to add to the coffee. The cake was delicious and moist. There are nuts in it so be warned if you don't like nuts. There was a thick layer of cream cheese frosting on top and it paired so wonderfully with the coffee. I sat there for about 40 minutes reading and eating. The barista even gave me a pitcher of water! Overall really great Cafe and I can't wait to go back.

My favorite food at Epi requires me to become a bit anti-social: a freshly warmed baguette with Brie, rucola and a honey chutney-ish dressing (Brie a Miel). Stinks so bad, tastes so good!! :-) Of course, one simply can't leave without sampling an eclair (or three), Monte Cristo, brioche, tart or macaroon. Better yet, buy one of each! I would especially recommend the white chocolate and pistachio Monte Cristo, and the apricot brioche... but then I'd have to leave out the three-cheese quiche and fondant chocolate, and that would just be wrong. Epi imports French flour to ensure that their pastries and breads are authentic. As a result, it's a bit pricey - and worth every penny. Oh, and they have some delicious hot chocolate, teas and imported sodas, too. But, seriously - who can think about that when face-to-face with the most tender and flaky chocolate croissant in Germany?
