I organised a Viking Coastal Trail cycling trip (a day trip) for 19 people and I used Kens Bikes to hire 17 adult bikes and 1 child bike. The service was fantastic from the moment I called a couple of weeks in advance to the moment we returned the bikes. All was very straightforward and easy to book and I could make cancellations due to a couple of people not turning up at no cost. All bikes were good and we were also given bike locks, seat adjustment key to take with us and cycling route maps. Even though the shop closes at 4 pm, we could return bikes at any time (we did so at 5 pm) and we agreed that we could just text saying at what time we would be back - this gave us a lot of flexibility and no rush. The feedback from the group was very positive and a few people told me that they would definitely use Kens Bikes if they needed to hire a bike in Margate again. I and 2 colleagues recently hired bikes in June / July 2015 from Kens bikes. Our Itinery was the Kent coast, onto Cantebury, deal, and Dover. We then crossed to Calais onto Boulogne sur Mer, St Omer and back to Calais. Ken provided us with bikes for the trip to last 5 days. He kindly provided us also with " what if " provisions in case of eventualities and wished us all the best on our trip. His good humour and genuine friendliness was appreciated. We had a great trip but were delayed in calais due to strike that shut the port. This resulted in delayed return of the bikes. Again Ken was brilliant about the delay and dealt with us in a very understanding manner. Ken was a complete king. He was polite, friendly, and gave us bikes and maps and a shake on the hand and pat on the back to see us on our way as we did the Viking Coastal Trail. We got back very late about 3 hours after his closing time, but we rang him on the way and he didn't mind at all. Came back to the shop to meet us when we arrived in good cheer. We LOVED Ken. My friend went driving in the same neck of the woods a few weeks afterwards. Out of the 27 miles of scenery we covered; out of all the castles, the coastline, the little inlets and beautiful fields she passed in her car again.given any possible part of the whole day's worth of experiences in the summer sun, she only text me once on her drive, to mention one thing: I've just passed Ken's bikes!!! Went to have a look for a bike lunchtime - closed till 1.15, and then shuts again at 4pm. So no chance you can look at a bike in your lunchtime or after work?? So i rang to ask if they had any small racer bikes in, the answer was a very short no we don't have any of them and then the phone was put down on me!! Didnt get a chance to ask them, or for them to suggest how often they get them in and could look out for me. Or what size bike i was looking for, or wouid i look at a different kind of bike maybe - nothing. I am all for using small local businesses, but if you want to sell any product you need to do a lot better than this!! read more

I have used Ken's bikes several times for advice, servicing, and to buy accessories. Ken knows all there is to know about bikes. To show what a nice guy he is: I was cycling along a country lane, and the daylight was fading. I got off my bike, pushed it onto the verge, so that I could put my lights on. Ken was passing in his car, thought I had a problem, and offered me a repair, or lift home. He is passionate about cycling, and a gentleman. My Girlfriend and I hired two quality bikes from Ken at very reasonable prices. We arrived at midday to hire the bikes, and Ken kindly agreed to come back to his shop two hours after he closed to pick the bikes back up what a gent! The service he offers is top notch. We took a daytrip to Margate for cycling, and were not planning for long. Kens Bike was frist stop in Margate, it offered us whatever we needed for our cycling trip, so it is not necessary to go somewhere else to find any equipments.
