1. What your symptoms were when you started: I was what you can characterize as morbidly obese at 252 pounds. I am retried military and suffered from the 40 pound weight gain that accompanies retirement (it is no myth). My blood pressure was high and I would be asked if I was on hypertension medication. I was on the fast track to Type 2 diabetes. I have been going to Freedom Chiropractic since 2010 and had seen the signs for Vive but never gave it another thought. My family had done the Advanced Nutrition Plan as part of a biggest loser promotion at Freedom Chiropractic and I lost 30 pounds. However, we fell off the wagon and the weight came back, with a vengeance. Last summer, we attended a patient appreciation event and I stepped on the Tanita scale and it told me that I was morbidly obese, my BMI was very high, my visceral fat was high (this is the fat around your organs in your midsection and is a major killer) and my metabolic age was 67 and I was 51 at the time. 2. What you've been doing: I have been following the nutrition plan and doing the exercise regime and using the IR sauna. I do this three times a week and need to be more regimented to do it at home or work to make the work out happen 6 out of 7 days a week. August 15th,2020 came and went, a year older, a few pounds heavier. This time it was different I found my self at a cardiac Doctors office, he wanting to rush me to the ER. For the first time my body weight and B/P were looking like twins. My heart was a racing to make changes ASAP! Going to the ER was not going to be my option. I love this program!!! My starting weight was 218 and I am now down to 182 pounds after 101 days, which is a total weight loss of 36 pounds! (That's about 2.5 lbs per week.) I discovered Dr. Kells' Weight Loss from a co-worker that mentioned that her husband had gone through the program and lost A LOT of weight. I was frustrated with my increasing pants-size which was super uncomfortable, my lack of energy, and my increasingly annoying digestive issues (severe acid re-flux and stomach pain after each meal). After being on this program, my energy has increased dramatically, the digestive issues have disappeared (unless I go back to old habits and eat gluten, drink dairy or alcohol) and my clothes are falling off me now; I feel amazing! I also do not crave sugar like I used to, and when I do have some (as we sometimes do out of an old habit), it feels like a "sugar hangover." I felt I needed to write A review once I saw that the few negative reviews were on the top of the page and the many positive reviews were buried. If you look at any weight-loss program there are plenty of bad reviews out there. This program is amazing if you take the initiative to utilize all the resources they have. The support is literally phenomenal. Included in the program is as much contact as you need and want to utilize. At any time I can reach out through daily texting, phone calls, or asking for a consultation in addition to my regularly scheduled consultations every 40 days. The nurse that oversees the program can meet with you if there are complicating factors. Anytime additional help is needed they are definitely there. There are Recipes that are delicious and easy to prepare. Yes you have to take time to do this. And yes it requires commitment and initiative. Anything does.. They've also provided for me exercise guidelines, eating out guides, travel guides etc. Lots of encouragement from the staff as well as great content provided by dr Kells. Unlike so many other programs I have been on this program is designed for independence and sustainability. The guidelines and strategy for introducing food have helped tremendously. Dr. Kells has about 20 years experience doing nutrition and I know she has lectured nationally and internationally and trained other doctors. I have faith in the program because it works so well. I also have experienced firsthand her level of commitment to her patients. The staff at VIVE are so encouraging. They are really interested in you as a person and the struggles that you are going through. This isn't just a job to them but really a way to help people transform their lives. I have been on a health journey for quite a few years. About 8 years ago, I started working out at Curves 4 x a week. It really helped my self-esteem and my discipline towards exercise. I've taken nutrition courses and tried to eat "healthy". In 2012, I started working with a personal trainer. This really helped with my strength, balance and self-confidence in the gym itself. Works very well! I lost 37 lbs in 3 months and really didn't have any major hunger pains or other problems. I started in a size 40 waist size and was looking for a size 42! But while at the store I had a real serious moment with myself and realized that I should NOT be looking for a size 42 waist, but should get my weight gain under control. I started Dr. Kells' Weight Loss program on 1 Sept 2018 and by Thanksgiving I had lost 37 pounds and was now in a size 36 waist pant and bluejeans! Fabulous! In fact, the size 36 waist pants are a bit loose and I feel great. I've tried other programs with no success. This one is by far the most expensive but it works. You really have to commit to it for the results. I didn't think I could but I have and I feel and look so much better. I've always eaten the Fruits/Vegetables my entire life so that was the easy part. I've not been a Big Water person so that is my downfall. I've had my ups/downs like with other programs but the girls in the Office keep you motivated and going. I'm really glad this is not a Program where you have to buy their food because you fall back off the wagon because you can't afford to keep buying it. This program teaches you to eat better and think about what your putting into your body. I buy my own food. I've been one of those people who grew up having snacks/soda's/chips on a daily basis because that's just how it was. Now when I try one of those items, I really don't want them. I've saved so much on not buying junk food so now if I could just get my husband on board----haha. I am at the Maintenance Part of the Program now and so far so good. I have found some items that aren't really good for me so now I know why I was having issues before and I stay away from them. Dr Kells and her team changed my life in the diet/eating world! Not only because I lost 35 lbs but because my fear of food is gone! I have struggled with the aftermath of anorexia nervosa for 40 years. At the age of 20, I starved myself and weighed 80 lbs. I've had great success with Dr. Kells and her program. I had been stuck at the same weight for about 12 years. I would try different diets, and would take off 5 lbs. or so if I was lucky, and gain the weight back as soon as I gave up (which usually didnt take long). I've been on the maintenance part of the program for a couple of months now and can again testify to the fact following the program works. Just in the last two weeks we've had a holiday, a wedding and all those celebrations, a road trip, and a convention. All terrific opportunities to go off protocol and put weight on but I didn't add any weight! In fact on my first day back home I weighed myself and I've lost .7 pounds! I love this plan! Dr. Kells and her staff truly care about you not just as a client but as a person. They are always there to help you & inspire you & give you the tools you need for your weight loss journey. The plan does take commitment & a lifestyle change.
