We've been at Best Brains now for a few months - we needed something more than the public school…read morewas offering. Like phonics. And math that you can understand. My kids are young, but like school and I want to foster that now, while I still can. Best Brains immediately tests the kids to see about where they are academically, then give you books to take home and practice every night. Once per week they meet in very small groups and help the student with chosen subjects (in our case we are doing both English and Math). If you actually do the books each night, it is about 15 minutes or work per subject. BB pays off completed work with brain bucks, which the kids can use in the little store. The test results are still forthcoming. The public school decided not to test my son this year (?!?!?!) for reading so I guess we have to wait a while to see the end result. I'm not all for standardized tests, but that is a long subject for a different forum. Bottom line is my kids seem to enjoy it and it is extra practice that the school isn't eager to provide.

Best Brains is awesome. My son has been attending Best Brains since Sept 2017. He started out…read morewith their Junior Baby Genius English program. At that time, he didn't even know all his upper case letters. In 1 year and 8 months, he is now able to read at a Senior Reader level. By Feb 2018, I added on their Math class. Now, he is able to add and subtract, count in 2s/5s/10s, tell time, understand patterns and bar graphs (his favorite). And to think, he hasn't even started Kindergarten yet! I think, what makes Best Brains work is having fun and engaging homework. It is never redundant and boring. Also, the staff is AMAZING! My son started when he was 3, and his attention span was not the greatest. The staff work well with him and is very patient with him during the entire hour that he is at class. They are good at getting him to re-focus whenever he gets distracted. Hands down to all of them! I highly recommend Best Brains to anyone that wants to get ahead in learning!

Hours flexible for Assessment appointment. They offered us a free assessment and two free sessions. My grandson went in for an 7th Math assessment. The assessment did show he was behind in some areas. When the assessment was explained to me, it was noted the problems that he didn't attempt to solve. Yet, going into the assessment he was instructed to skip whatever problems he could not do. Then the overall vibe was intense and a bit negative. He was told he needed to bring his chrome book in every time and other items to work on assignments each time he came. It's not what was said it was how it was said. Maybe their experiences have been of students coming to the center not prepared to study, but how is that being assessed when you're meeting a client for the first time? I just felt it was not a good fit. I was hopeful but it's my belief that a child has to feel there being taught from a positive mindset rather than trying to get a child to succeed from a negative mindset. Very willing to play the $300+ per month but not to have my child having negative feelings about math challenges. Mindset is very important when tackling math. It's the "I can" attitude will get more achieved in my opinion. Training Center could be the right fit for you but it was not for us.

Wow, what a frustrating experience! I spent an hour and a half getting my children assessed, only…read moreto leave with no useful information about Kumon or my kids' current reading and math levels. I had heard good things about the program through word of mouth but didn't know much about how it works. I also heard there was a free assessment to determine where my children might need help. Unfortunately, the center seemed severely understaffed. We waited 10 minutes before the test even began, and no one explained the process to me or my kids. I was told there is a price sheet on her desk and told I could take a picture of it, but beyond that, nothing was explained. When the kids finished the test, not all the pages were graded, and the staff member forgot to write down the end times. She gave a vague guess about where my children were academically but couldn't explain her reasoning. Throughout the appointment, she repeatedly mentioned being understaffed and that the owner was leaving. Am I supposed to feel confident in bringing my kids here after all that? What should have taken 30 minutes dragged on three times longer, and I left without any clear information or guidance about my children's needs. Very disappointing!
