Very helpful and friendly staff ! Love the customer service. I had an issue with the first all…read moregrain brew i was giving ( an issue with the warehouse pick ticket vs recipe on hop editions ) . I emailed them an they assisted me right way . Joe kept in contact with me through multiple emails . He found that the issue was due to their system for placing orders in the warehouse that shorted me. He gave another all grain brew kit and i am happy to say it was a success. I know alot of people would say that due to this issue they should get less stars , but it should be considered that no one is perfect let alone the computer software that runs our everyday lives. Its the customer service that is given if there is an issue that i always judge on . And this company's stellar staff that will keep my business as a home brewer. Ray luna

Here's the thing, I've been here a few times and of the three, two of the times were spectacular…read morewith the guys being super helpful and made sure my boyfriend and I had everything we needed, but the most recent time I was here, the dude helping us did not make sure we had everything we needed and effectively screwed us over. So I'm not particularly feeling all warm and cozy about this place right now. However, the couple times I've been helped before this last time, the guys went through the recipes with us and made sure we knew what we were doing (we're novices which means we don't have a distilling system and we have to use extract), which was awesome. My hometown brew place does the same and really makes sure their customers have what they need, especially when you're a beginner, and they are what I measure all other brew shops to. Their prices are especially quite low and it's great because it makes doing multiple batches of beer not nearly as expensive as other places. This alone is why you should come to Homebrew Supply. BUT on our most recent trip, the dude that helped us paid very little attention, didn't discuss the recipes with us (considering we selected from Homebrew's recipe selection) and just rushed around getting us supplies. It was uncomfortable say the least. We left a little weirded out with a huge bag of wheat and no extract. I should have immediately called my mom but my boyfriend and I headed for food. It ended up that the supplies given to us were those meant for experts who have a freaking DISTILLING system, which my boyfriend and I DO NOT HAVE. Thanks Homebrew Supply. After my mom reviewed the recipes and the supplies, she told us that the recipe was written by someone who really wanted to sound "fancy" and that she could simplify the recipe but we'd have to go get extract. The final result is that my boyfriend and I bought enough grain for 4 batches of beer and our expense was nearly 5X what we should have had to spend. WE ARE PRETTY PISSED. My advice: Homebrew Supply is a great place to go for your supplies but make sure you really talk to the guys if you're a beginner. And if the guys aren't willing to talk to you, walk back out. Brewing beer is a really fun hobby to get into, but going to a place that's willing to give you the time of day is really important. Also, the dude who helped us, should probably get a talking to *hint, hint* because he just lost Homebrew Supply a set of customers.

My girlfriend and I recently moved to the area but have been looking at home brewing for a while…read more We decided to go to the Harker Heights Wine and Beer festival a couple of months ago and came upon Black Hawk Brewing Supply, which was doing a brewing demonstration. We picked up some information about them that day. A few weeks later we decided to go check it out. When we got there, we were helped immediately. Even though we were complete newbies, they explained everything to us, answered all of our questions, and really made us feel welcome. We bought a startup kit, some bottles, and a beer kit. Since then my girlfriend and I have been in there a quite a few times. Every time, our questions are answered and we are helped with what we need. They even have their own recipes for beer that they will give you. They will even help you figure out what grains you need depending on the method of brewing you will be doing and the recipe. The owners run the shop and they are extremely knowledgeable. Their prices are reasonable and they even have wine making supplies. We haven't delved into that realm yet though. Maybe eventually, but for now, just beer. They even have these cool little cheese making kits there if you want to do that. Last weekend we went in and decided we wanted to do a partial mash based on a recipe they had. We were helped all the way through from having the grains ground and put together for us, to the kind of malt extract, hops, and yeast we were supposed to use. It was all explained to us too so that we would understand it. We went that night and brewed our beer. It is now fermenting successfully. Looks like so far we did it right! This is actually the very first time that I have written a review on a company because I was so happy with it. If you are looking into getting into home brewing, check these guys out. It's a small shop but they will have what you need. Very honest people too. I have actually been talked out of buying some things I didn't need. They don't pressure you into buying anything, which is one thing I dislike about going into some businesses.
