While I have been to a couple of other Kraken locations before, including the day before, this one was different as it was an actual storefront in a strip mall instead of a food truck. They also sell shave ice here. With it being a storefront, they had a decent amount of seating along with a clear ordering area. For my coffee on this morning I went with a large Surf's Up cold brew, which the menu described as coconut mac nut with a sweet foam topper. Since I had run 17 miles earlier in the day, I was also hungry and their jalapeño cheddar bagel caught my eye, so I ordered one of those as well. It did not take long before I had both my drink and food and was headed back to my car. As soon as I got in, I dug in. When I first opened the bagel it looked a little overdone, but there was no bitterness from the darker parts and it actually ended up being cooked perfectly. As for the coffee, I could not get enough of it. The coconut mac nut cold brew was strong with a bit of earthiness from the mac nut and some sweetness from the coconut. The sweet foam was the real standout though as I loved both the texture and the added sweetness. Paired with the bold coffee, it worked really well and I finished it quickly. The bottom line for me is that I would head back here again in the future. Both my bagel and coffee were good and I would also be interested in trying their shave ice next time.

I had the ono fish sandwich with the wasabi aioli--absolutely delicious with just the right amount of kick. My husband dove straight into the coconut shrimp and loved every bite. It's also a total win for families; my kiddos were happy with the classics like the burger and mac n cheese. It's on the side of the road near some apartments so there isn't really a place to sit and eat, but it's right by the beach so you can take it to go there. The shrimp was bomb but when I got back to eat, the sauce wasn't in there, which would've made it so much better. Definitely worth stopping by.

Until we came to Oao, our favorite had been Nobu, down the road in Wailea. Well, I am here to tell you that, hands-down, there is a new gold medalist in town! The quality, presentation and taste--every single course--knocked it out of the ballpark! And, much to our surprise, the last Main course of Wagyu beef was a veritable grand slam! We came for the Sushi, but never in my life have i tasted such heavenly steak! The exceptionally aloha-friendly staff, such as Ronson and Iggy, were above and beyond helpful. Add to my snobbery my pallet for a good sake. Well, Iggy was able to steer me to an exceptionally perfect Daiginzo brew to complement our Omakase feast of the evening. Be sure to include an order of mussels, and you can't go wrong with anything Hamachi, such as the carpaccio. The atmosphere is somewhat traditional sushi bar, with an aloha flair. It is not very spacious, and will fill up in both guests and noise. Tune those out and you'll be fine. By the way, be sure to make reservations! In comparison to some other brands such as Aman, Four Seasons Maui felt below average given its price point. The resort itself felt small and a bit old. The service felt very below average and inconsistent. One employee would tell you the sun umbrellas at the pools near the bushes are not adjustable while literally 2 mins later another employee came and adjusted the sun umbrella next to me and also mine when I asked. When we went to the adult pool we were told by one employee that we needed to be on a waitlist. After 3 hours when we finally got notified that it was our turn and went back we noticed other guests just literally went and grabbed empty benches and staffs were just setting the benches up for them(no, they didn't even know there was a waitlist)... Our canoe experience at the last day of our stay got canceled due to high wind and the concierge never notified us etc. Many employees gave me the vibe that they don't really care. They just gave me fake smiles and robotic responses. Maybe Amond would take better care of us...if he is still alive... The view was very amazing. We even spotted whales many times.
