I found this radio station completely on accident in October. I was driving on my way home one…read morenight from work and was tired of hearing commercials and talk shows from 100.5 the Zone (another one of my fave. stations, but lately they've been disappointing me). Anyway, I was station surfing, then I came across 99.1, Air 1. They were playing rock music, some alternative at that...I thought,"hmm, this has a good beat" then I listened to the lyrics and they said something along the lines of thanking God or praising him, I forgot, but then the 1st thing that popped in my head was,"OMG...is this what I think it is? A Christian rock station?" Then I started listening to it more often on my way to school and back...I was hooked!!!! I seriously believe that God brought it upon me to start listening to Air 1 to praise Him and get me through the mornings and evenings while I'm driving, and I thank Him for that. I mean, I knew Christian rock exsisted and I listened to a few songs I thought were OKAY, but 99.1 has opened me up to a whole new realm of Christian rock music!! I found some of my favorite bands and songs from here, such as Skillet, an alternative/hard-rock band and Jeremy Camp, who sounds exactly like Nickelback...which is perfect because my fave. subgenre of rock is alternative. They also play pop-punk like Relient K, Switchfoot, Hawk Nelson, they even play some hip hop/techno-ish songs! Oh, and it's commercial free too!! Perfect because I hate commercials, and that is one of the reasons why 100.5 the Zone and KWOD 106.5 have been disappointing me... they have really annoying commercials that seem to be longer than the talk shows and music combined. Hello, it's like, I just want my music, I'm not interested in buying products or whatever. But not with 99.1. It feels so liberating not having to deal with nonstop advertisements. Scott and Kelly are really awesome and funny too...I like to listen to their discussions in between songs. Everyday it's something new and interesting! And I love how they try to make a difference in other people's lives and touch people! I would give it 5 stars or more, but I don't like how the signal is pretty bad in this station...it gets annoying, and then I have to listen to another station or one of my many CDs I have listened to a billion times already. That's the only bad thing about Air 1. I guess this just goes to show that rock music doesn't have to have a negative message, and that Christian music isn't all hymns and choirs and church-sounds...that's great if you're into that stuff but I love my rock and roll!!

This is more of an obituary than a review that is sadly, too little, too late! This is on one of my…read morepast favorite radio stations. I think since the early 80's, this type of modern, smooth jazz kept me as a devoted listener. They played music that was relaxing, refreshing and uplifted my mood. When it was time for "Sound Scapes", it transported me to another world, that was great for meditating. This station was responsible for my extensive CD collection and familiarity of all the talented artists that were out there! The DJ's were also interesting to listen to with their knowledgeable information and voices just as smooth as the music they played. It is very disheartening to hear that the DJ's also lost their jobs with short notice given to them. I know that just like any business, financial hard times happen. I guess, I and the rest of the loyal listeners took this radio station for granted that it would always be there. Their style and selections of music got me through the commute back & forth to work and throughout a hectic day. My friends and family are ALL missing this station. Rest in peace KSSJ......I know I can't!
