I was in the difficult position of having to find a new attorney after my previous lawyer…read moreunexpectedly passed away, and I had less than six weeks before trial. During that time I contacted more than 75 attorneys and law firms hoping to find someone who could help. One attorney truly stood out -- Jon Friedman. Even though my case was outside the area of law he practices, he spent nearly 30 minutes on the phone with me listening to my situation and offering thoughtful guidance. He didn't rush the conversation and took the time to make sure I felt heard during an incredibly stressful time. That kind of professionalism, compassion, and integrity is rare. It was clear to me that he genuinely cares about people who are seeking legal help and wants his clients to feel understood and supported. Even though he wasn't able to represent me, that conversation left a lasting impression. If I ever need legal assistance in the future, Jon Friedman will absolutely be the first attorney I call. I have no doubt that anyone who becomes his client will have someone who truly fights for them.

After over 35,000 miles, my journey was abruptly interrupted, as a distracted truck driver failed to yield and cut the road a few meters ahead of me. Just like that, in a second, everything was over. I was then flown to hospital, had four surgeries, stayed for a month and spent months in a wheelchair after being flown back home, in Belgium. That's when Mike Colbach and his team got in. I couldn't have been more lucky. For over 6 months, he worked on my case 7 days a week. He did everything in his power to make things right and as fair as they could get (including flying over to freezing and rainy Belgium in winter for depositions). I will never thank him enough. Not only for his and his amazing crew's unparalleled professionalism, but also and perhaps even more for his help and moral support, on a more human level, when I most needed it. No wonder why he constantly gets great reviews and is the best personal injury lawyer in Oregon!

When I asked why, all I was told was "it was I difficult case." I could have found a hundred lawyers that would have gladly seen this case from beginning to the end . But now with only a month left on the statue of limitations nobody wants to jump in on that as it takes time to do research but they would not be given. I was referred to this firm specifically to assume representation for both my workers' compensation…read moreclaim and my employment termination matter. The referral was presented as a coordinated transfer to a larger firm capable of handling overlapping injury and employment law issues. This was not a general inquiry, it was intended to be a formal case handoff. When I contacted the office, staff appeared unfamiliar with my case and unaware of any referral communication. I was treated as a new cold inquiry rather than a client whose matter was being transferred. There was no evidence that case materials had been reviewed or that any attorney-to-attorney coordination had occurred prior to my outreach. The intake interaction was rushed and dismissive, with no meaningful attempt to gather background details or establish continuity of representation. Given the complexity and seriousness of combined workers' compensation and termination matters, this lack of preparation and professionalism was concerning. Being terminated while actively managing a workplace injury places clients in a particularly vulnerable position. In that context, proper referral handling and internal communication are essential. My experience reflected a breakdown in both. I would strongly advise prospective clients to confirm in writing that referrals are formally accepted, files are transferred, and case reviews have occurred before relying on this firm for representation.
