Stopped by after work and noticed it was pretty empty for a Thursday night. Nevertheless, the service was great and I was tended to immediately. I opted for the spicy tantanmen with chicken. To be completely honest, it was just okay. It wasn't spicy at all, it lacked seasoning, and the noodles were on the thicker side. It had potential for sure, but unfortunately, this wasn't my favorite.

Found this place while I was looking for a quick dinner before leaving airport and driving up to Aiken. The cucumber was so flavorful especially with the chili crunch. Love it! The Curry Plate has two huge pork loin breaded with panko powder. It was over-fried and turn slightly brown (instead of golden). The combination of shredded cabbage, carrots, potatoes and curry created a great dish. I would have given it a 5-star if the pork was not over-cooked. Definitely coming back for more if I am in town again.

I've dined in and picked up takeout at Katsubo and have to say I'm obsessed with their crispy fried chicken. That comes as no surprise since Katsubo has roots going back to the folks that owned Kinfolk in Johns Island (which I miss dearly). So far I've only had the soy garlic flavor which is excellent, but I would like to try the others. I just heard they're doing $1 wings on Wednesdays now so that would be the perfect time to try them all. When dining in, we also shared an order of okonomiyaki and a ramen as well. The okonomiyaki was different compared to others I've had in the past, but tasty in its own right. I would like it a little crispier on the grill I think. The ramen broth had deep flavor and the noodles had a nice bouncy texture. Don't forget to check out the cocktails too... the Katsubō Fashioned was my favorite.

Run, don't walk, to Katsubō! This is thus far the best ramen spot I have tried in Charleston no lie. The shoyu short rib ramen was soooo good I'm drooling now just thinking and typing about it. They also serve chicken and their soy garlic wings are bussin! Double fried and very crispy. If you're familiar with Bonchon their wings are very similar and just as good! They have a lot on their menu and I cannot wait to go back to try more. Only downside is the parking which can feel like the Hunger Games with searching and fighting for a spot to park at.

I've been here so many times I might as well just move in. This is one of my favorite places to get Ramen and it's where my kids request to go every single time. It's such a nice casual baby spot in the Ramen is delicious every single time I love that they have rotating specials so I get to try something new every now and then but I have to admit I always go for the spicy pork. It's my favorite.

Perfect place to visit on a rainy evening. What could be better than a huge (HUGE) bowl of Ramen?! Service was great, immediately seated and greeted. Waiter was helpful in the questions we had. Settled on the potsticker style appetizer (amazing) and we each ordered different types of ramen. Arrived quickly. Missing a star bc I ordered additional mushrooms and an egg to be added to my ramen and neither were, sadly. Will be back again. Please note the venue is small and cozy!!

We had a great lunch here during the slow time between Christmas and New Years. The weather was lovely and there were people seated both outside and inside. We chose inside. I loved the charred edamame. I would get that again. The chicken tenders are outstanding and my 4 yo grand daughter was very happy. We all also loved the Ramen. While we were waiting to be served, I was able to go on a little walk outside with my grand daughter.

Katsubo is a gem in Park Circle. I ordered the Tantanmen Pork Ramen - the broth was rich, creamy, and perfectly spicy, layered with chili heat that didn't overpower but lingered just right. The pork was tender with crispy edges and the noodles had a perfect bite. The vibe inside is cool, clean, with fun Japanese pop culture touches that make it feel vibrant but not overdone. The service is quick and friendly with the whole menu being affordable. Definitely need to come back to try their fried chicken!

Okonomiyaki

Informative and attentive service. The "snacks" were all fantastic. We tried the charred edamame, gyoza, okonomiaki, and chicken sando with waffle fries. The okonomiaki had an actual pancake base which was different, but still really good. We were a little disappointed in the broth flavoring on the shoyu short rib ramen, but the ingredients were tasty. Look forward to going for happy hour

Wonderful evening Pre MJ the musical. Happy Hour Ramon for the win. Our bartender was lovely and so was the fried pork curry dish. Plenty of pork with great texture. The curry was delicious. What a cool spot. Already looking forward to our second visit.

I gave Katsubo another try. I have to say the Katsu Sando really impressed me! But I am a sucker for anything with Milk bread! I love the visual ambience and concept inside, but the execution is a tiny bit off. Maybe it was the music? It's still a really cool spot. The ramen was better than I expected (I am a ramen snob) and I LOVED how many options for ramen there actually were. All in all I will be returning for the katsu sando. Next time with pork! Also their Brussels sprouts are absolutely the best Brussels I've had in Charleston or maybe ever anywhere. Flavor bombs. So soft but still crunchy edges. I don't know how they do it! I'd return for the Brussels alone they are a must order!

Yuzo Shio

Usually when I pay this much for ramen I'm annoyed because the ramen itself is OK but not so great to justify this kind of price. The ramen here was really good. I had the Yuzu Shio and everything had a nice fresh taste and the noodles were springy not mushy. The pork gyoza and pickled daikon starters were outstanding. The kids had chicken tenders and fries and the Haikkaido Miso and liked them. They also had ice cream sandwiches which were MASSIVE and they loved but it was just too much for them. My server Eris was friendly and quick. Good place all around! Only knock on it is the somewhat limited menu. J.Ja

This was my first visit and I was throughly impressed. The ramen was fresh and tasty. The service was amazing and very good. It's a family, date, or group setting. It's small but quaint and intimate. Parking is scarce because of the location, so I advise look at the peak hours. I give it a 1000 (lol).

I personally appreciated the simplicity of the menu, kept it easy to navigate to decide quicker what I wanted. Service was exceptional. They greet you when you enter as well as leave. Portraying Japanese culture of customer service. You order at the kiosk, grab a number, and find a table. The waiters will bring out the food to you. There's plenty of seating and the restaurant is clean and kept tidy. Also great lighting and a warm welcome and goodbyes feeling.

Strangely, mine was brought to me packaged for takeout; I don't know why their in-house ordering would default to that but maybe I hit a wrong button? Maybe some room for process improvement there, but they didn't give me any trouble about transitioning to a dine-in bowl. Their vegetable ramen is promised with a citrus note and there were discernible little bits of yuzu in it. The tofu it comes with is marinated in something sweeter, which wasn't my favorite flavor combination but is typical to the cuisine. I found the flavor improved with tableside spices; they have both a black pepper mix and a house chili powder. The portion size was not huge, and even adding extra inari on the side just satisfied my cravings, and this was after I'd had breakfast. There were some Japanese-speaking people dining there who seemed to be slurping approvingly. I could imagine having had a better experience, but the quality of broth and noodles was worth coming for me.

First off I love that it's a full service bar and eating at the bar is no problem. Second I absolutely love they sell pitchers of beer. Not many taps, but still pitchers. And it's mostly local beer. I was with my husband and we wanted to try several things and took recs from the bartender who was awesome. We ordered the pork dumplings, the scallion pancake and the spicy sichuan hot karaage rice bowl. And we made it a combo with miso soup and an egg roll for $4. The pork dumplings were SO good. I could eat a meal of those alone. They were dense and flavorful and the dipping sauce was slightly spicy. The scallion pancake was a surprise delight. It was crispy and not too greasy again with a delicious dipping sauce. The miso soup...chefs kiss. It looked like ordinary miso soup but there was something extra that we really loved!! And the egg roll was big and juicy and fried and wonderful. It's a veggie egg roll but don't let that fool you. So much flavor and again the sweet chili dipping sauce left us drooling. Most of those sauces are too sweet but this was the perfect blend and the perfect spice level. The rice bowl was full of flavor!! The spice on this is quite a lot so make sure you can handle heat if you order the "hot" version. But again lots of flavor not just hot. Thank god we didn't order anymore food because this was plenty for the two of us to leave full and honestly we could've had leftovers. We will 1000% be visiting again and fully understand the hype around this phenomenal restaurant!!

All the dishes we ordered, from the miso soup and pierogis with salsa macha, to the karaage-don and peanut noodles, were savory and satisfying to eat. The texture and appearance of the chicken for the karaage-don bore more of a resemblance to General Tso's chicken with its battered and crunchy exterior, and it didn't quite have the tender and juicy interior I was hoping for, but I enjoyed the lemon mayo pairing which resulted in a flavorful finish. The Peanut Noodles reminded me of certain iterations of Dan Dan Noodles and certainly tasted fine on its own, but adding the thick chunks of bacon/pork belly was essential in elevating this dish to the next level. The restaurant was very lively on a Thursday afternoon, and the staff very warm and inviting throughout our meal. My drink hit the mark for me, and I found the cocktail menu fun and creative. In fact, I would say "fun and creative" summed up our overall experience at Jackrabbit Filly. Just ask my daughter, who started dancing the entire lunch the moment she saw the disco lights in the bathrooms.
