Choice available for table seating or for "bar" seating (at the conveyor belt). The wait staff spoke mainland Chinese. Menu is in English and Chinese (but not Japanese). There are reasons to think this place is owned by Chinese. Dishes are ok but not authentically Japanese.

This was only…read moremy second visit and since starting a vegetarian lifestyle this year I wanted to find out how their food fared for vegetarians. Being a sushi bar the vegetarian options did initially appear a little limited and sadly Sakura do not have a separate, dedicated vegetarian menu which is unfortunate. However, our waiter did advise us that the Chefs could do any dish on the menu as vegetarian, so that was a huge bonus. Nonetheless, clearer 'suitable for vegetarian' labelling on the menu would help. We opted for deep fried avocado and tofu tempura roll starters and mains of stir fried ramen noodles with mixed vegetables. The food as absolutely delicious and fresh tasting, wine (pinot grigio) lovely and service impeccable. I did notice a 'Chinese Kitchen' section towards the back of the main menu which included options of mixed vegetables with black bean, Szechuan, satay and salt and chilli sauces. I'm looking forward to a return visit and to trying out Sakura's lunch and take away menus as the food was scrumptious. Plus the restaurant itself is beautiful with Japanese décor, relaxed atmosphere and reasonable prices.

Last night the guy told me there was a limit of two of the same types of chicken. No one has ever told me that. He was rude.

What a shame they've decided instead to rely on pre cooked food that can sit in Bain Marie's for hours and skin develops on the surface. I passed by at 11am one weekday morning once lockdown began to lift and there already was a full display of cooked dishes - well over a dozen choices. The centre was pretty empty that morning and I'd imagined that some of the food would still be poaching there by 1pm. No thanks. The young staff have always been mostly a surly bunch, no idle chat, no shooting the breeze and a smile is rare - maybe it's cultural. They also have a sign up on charging for the plastic bag for takeaway when the plastic bag tax doesn't apply to hot food (yet but will from April 2021). The prices here have risen steadily in recent years and with the demise of the above dishes I find there's little left that's attractive about it for me. I tried food but the crispy chicken wasn't crispy and all the food was barely warm. If you go here you are buying rubbish. I'm glad there's a Japanese restaurant place right next door too which will be my new go to.

Whilst the restaurant was not that big it still sat all 20 of us comfortably down the back away from other diners (probably for the best as a few of us got a bit loud). The food was lovely and good value for money with their evening special menu. It's not somewhere I would think of to go for dinner but I'm glad I now know what it's like as I will definitely be back. My one criticism of the place is whilst the main servers were lovely, friendly and attentive, the main girl (possibly the manager?) was quite abrasive and cold, and at one point I thought we were in a classroom being shouted at when somebody took the wrong plate and they had mixed up their pre order. She wasn't very happy about it, but it's easily done when you order in advance! She didn't put me off coming back here though!

They offer two courses for just £6.95!! Hard to beat! The menu is quite big and I decided to go for the new potato halves with bacon, onion and melted cheese..and OMG the garlic dip that came with this awesome starter was so good I was nearly going to ask where it came from or how to make it! Then came the sizzling Fajitas which were oh so yummy and they weren't shy with the portions either, also serving those lovely new potatoes with them! I had a glass of house white along with my meal which was only £2 a glass with this menu..seriously, this place rocks! They also have upstairs seating which can cater for larger parties. Love, love, love it!!
