Stopped by on the way to Tahoe. Was initially thinking of stopping in Roseville but the lines there were really long on a Saturday at 9am. I ordered the bacon avocado Benedict and lemon yogurt pancakes. My partner ordered the Avocado delight (omelette). The portion sizes are HUGE. Everyone else at the table ordered omelettes and left feeling very full. The eggs in the Benedict were poached to perfection (still some gooey-ness but not runny across the entire plate). The bacon and avocado complement the eggs and English muffin well. I ordered mine with a side of fruit. Most places with fruit as a side will put some berries on a plate, but at Katrina's they really load up your plate with a variety! Watermelon, cantaloupe, orange, strawberry, blueberry, blackberry, apple, and pineapple. As a table, we shared the lemon yogurt pancakes. It comes with syrup and raspberry jam. I recommend adding the jam to the pancakes (but in moderation because it's very sweet), as it balances the sour and creaminess very well. The pancakes were light and fluffy, and even though both yogurt and lemon are sour the flavors blend together perfectly. There is both indoor and outdoor seating, but they are quite busy!! The waiters were constantly walking by with new orders and seating guests. Service was as attentive as can be, despite being busy. You do have to flag down the waiter to place your order, but the food comes pretty quickly after (maybe 10-15 minutes). If you're able to sit inside, they do have a multitude of plates on display along the rafters which I thought were quite nice! As a pro tip, although there is a specials menu provided, it seems there are some additional items that aren't on either the regular or specials menu but is written on the black board inside (that's where I saw the bacon avocado Benedict). There is a roped off portion of the parking lot with a sign for guests of Katrinas Cafe where you can park!

Found this local gem and was a little apprehensive as it's tucked away between a car dealership and a Polaris dealer. Although inconspicuous, it seemed popular. We came around lunch time and even though it was busy there was plenty of seating both indoor and outside to accommodate us. We were seated right away and handed a large menu with anything and everything you could want available for breakfast or lunch. We opted for lunch and breakfast which came out super fast and were huge portions. It is a home town country spot with some great variety options but you can tell everything is homemade. The staff is friendly and attentive and the locals were also friendly. Great spot if you're looking for a bite.

What a find! The other reviews of Katrina's give you a hint you're in for something special. The face the place was packed also speaks volumes. Warning - it's small both inside and outside so getting a table could be challenging but once you're in - get ready. Mom had a Hawaiian omelette w potatoes- she loved it. I like Hawaiian pizza but not sure I'd personally go there. I went Customer's Creation - Fontaine Italian Sausage, mushrooms, spinach and tomato w cheese. OMG, the sausage was tasty, sweet and a perfect foil for the omelette. The biscuits and gravy had a great flavor of sweet and savory w/o being overly heavy or mushy. Did I mention that both were huge and generously stuffed? Definitely a top 10 omelette that you will get two meals out of! My wife did a custom burger - mushrooms, bacon, avocado on a very nice burger patty. She prefers going bun less, no wrap - which was a good thing because, again, it was huge!!!! I'm not sure you could have picked it up w a bun. They serve steak fries which are often mushy and uninviting. Not these! Nice crisp bite - maybe a little under seasoned but nothing a little salt and pepper can't fix. So some heads up...1) Benedict's w hollandaise sauce are only available on weekends (we will be back!). 2) they only have wine and beer which wasn't a deal breaker for us at all. I guess you can tell we are new fans that are looking forward to coming back!

This is SUCH a cute spot. The ambiance in here is UNMATCHED. The food was so tasty too, the omelette was delightful and not overcooked like omelettes usually are. The service was fine, it was quite busy in there so I'm sure they had a lot to do! Def check this place out, the potatos were also fireee. So was the jam, not like that packaged stuff breakfast places usually give you.

Look no further than Katrina's for the best brunch spot in the area! My family and I were heading to Lake Tahoe and wanted to indulge in a large breakfast before heading up the mountain. Our omelets were cooked to perfection. The potatoes were crispy and packed with flavor. The portions are also huge and very reasonably priced. But the star of the table were the lemon ricotta pancakes... a must try! The location is small and despite it being an early weekday, we had to wait a little while. The service was great and once we were sat, we ordered quickly and received our food not too long after.

Please do not take this in a rude way.... This was the best "hole in the wall" restaurant i have been too!I I use that expression because it's very small. With that said the food is on point!!! Katrina's- located in Auburn. Yummmmmm. First timer here. Had the mushroom, onion, cheese omlette. First off that was huge. It came with toast of my choice and fresh fruit or potatoes. I chose the unhealthy one. The potatoes were so good! I also got the blood orange mimosa! So yummy! Very well priced! Huge menu! Beautiful location! Nice outdoor patio! Great service. Everyone was so friendly! Would definitely come back!

Probably our sixth visit for breakfast and the crew is always kind & the food is good. I had the bacon, Swiss & spinach Omelet with country potatoes. Hearty bacon loaded Omelet was hot and fresh ,plentyof spinach, cheese & grilled onions& and enough for two. The Mrs ordered healthy and had the oatmeal with fresh fruit, brown sugar, and cream on the side. Good local fruit, refreshing, and plenty to eat. We sat outside and enjoyed the fall weather. Not too busy on a Thursday about 11am.

We went there yesterday close to noon. The place looked very quaint and very clean. They sat us quickly despite the fact that it was packed. Our server took very little time in coming to our table and getting us drinks. The menu was extensive. Lots of omelettes to choose from; which I loved because I am the savory breakfast kind of person. My girlfriend ordered the Belgian waffle. What can I say, it's a waffle. Nothing to write home about but good. I ordered the Dan's Special omelette. It was really, really good. Two entrees and two glasses of orange juice for $32.00 and change. Great! This little place packs a punch of breakfast goodness! My wife and I were traveling back from a wedding in Nevada City and wanted to filler up before our 3 hour drive. We both didn't want to settle for Denny's lol so low and behold the powers of yelp. This place is a must if you are traveling through. It has a nice homely feel and the food is delicious. The waiters are kind and attentive. There was a bit of a long wait due to pick up orders however the wait was worth it! read more

This place is awesome! The first time I came here I got some kind of scramble with artichoke hearts in it that were tough and inedible but other than that it was tastey. The second time I avoides artichoke hearts and got the salmon Benedict. It was so flipping good I almost died. I can't wait to go here again. read more

Traveling back to Bay Area Sunday morning and couldn't find a restaurant that was open in Auburn at 7 am until I checked Yelp and found Katrina's So happy I did. Good food, active and alive at 7 am and the wait staff is very accommodating. And the food..? Off the hook good!! Try the Lemon Yoghurt pancakes with their homemade raspberry jam...wow! Reasonable prices and generous portions. HIGHLY recommend! read more

I had the eggs Benedict, oj and coffee. All were delicious! The downside is the overall experience. It's crowded and uncomfortable. Crowded is a good sign that people like it, however there is for me a balance between good food that is worth waiting for (yes), and generally being uncomfortable, jammed-in, people bumping into you, uncomfortable seats, and so on. Katrinas has all of the above. read more

Wow! My wife and several friends travel around looking for great places for breakfast for many years now and so far we have not found a better menu and price point than what is available at Katrinas. The omlets are all great and I especially like the chile omlet. The lemon yougurt pancakes and the seasonal pumpkin pancakes are outstanding. Food is always fresh and hot and the service is good. Only downside in several years of dining here is that it can get very crowded and the waits can be long if you come later. Outside of this though I never have as problem getting friends or family to go here. read more

Easy on/off I-80. Quaint (tiny) popular place with welcoming staff. Mixed locals and interlopers. Healthy portions, excellent service and the Bloody Mary's looked good but we didn't sample 'em. Huevos Rancheros we're yummy and came with with side of potatoes large enough for a snack for later. Meatloaf sand with sprouts added a nice crunch. The biscuits and gravy were on the sweeter side than savory but good. Definitely worth the wait. Cash is king so no plastic here. read more

This place has great simple food, but a lot of variety. We stopped here on the way back from a Tahoe snowboarding trip and really enjoyed the food and service. Reasonably priced as well. Only tricky thing is parking which was hard to figure out at first (the lot is located on the left side of the restaurant). read more

Food was ok, just a regular diner. 5 were in our party, and service was really slow. Each of us had a different meal, from an omlette / sandwich / burrito and noone in our party was impressed with our meals. Two things to also be aware of here: 1. Only Cash accepted - no cards. 2. On Sundays, they do NOT serve any kind of salad or potato/french fry sides. Outside of that, if you are looking for the average diner this will fit the bill. read more

After having heard about Kartina's from a neighbor, I took my parents who are both in their 70's. After having been shown to a table outside; since we had a dog with us, the hostess told my father to grab a chair from the front and bring it to the back where our table was located. In all my years of dining, I've never experienced anything like this. I realize that this is a very popular and busy restaurant, but this is no way to treat your customers. Outside of that, the food was phenomenal and the waitresses were very gracious and so attentive to my dog. Thank you! read more

What a great place to eat breakfast on a Saturday morning. They have wonderful food and great service to go with it. The bonus was that they let us bring our dog in the outside patio and even gave her a bowl or water. Next time we are in their area we will definitely be eating there again. read more

Katrina's is the best breakfast in Auburn! I drive from Roseville just to eat here. The staff is always courteous and accommodating. I've had several of the dishes, some of my favorites include; the California Burritos, The Volcano, and the Lemon Yogurt Pancakes. Katrina's is a must try! read more

Hands down the best breakfast restaurant. There's usually a bit of a wait, as it's smaller and very popular (for good reason). The hollandaise sauce (available only on Saturday & Sunday) is the best I've ever had. The lemon pancakes are delicious... seriously another level of delicious. We always eat here when in Auburn, and have always enjoyed the food. We highly recommend it! read more

If you are OK with the manager picking and choosing the order in which you get seated at a table this is your place. She was VERY proud that she does not believe in "first come, first serve" while waiting for a table. Food was average, our waitress was exceptional. There are better places to eat in Auburn and friendly managers for sure. read more

Katrina's is one of those gems ..a find that you're thrilled with and can't wait to visit again! We've visited sever times & are locals. The food never disappoints! While the interior is quite small, their patio is lovely & dog friendly. If they weren't closed Monday & Tuesday's we'd be there a lot more. My favorite is their veggie quiche. Hubs likes their chicken fried steak. Quality & quantity are top notch. read more

The Huevos Rancheros are as bad as other reviewers state. Honestly it was pretty terrible and I love Mexican food. Other dishes coming out of the kitchen at least looked appetizing. Brusk staff as others also commented on. Prices are on the high side considering it's a cash-only breakfast business in a low-rent location. Then there's the 1-arm-bandit ATM near the rest room. All in all I got the feeling that Katrina's isn't a labor of love. I certainly didn't feel it. And won't be going back. read more

A great find on our way back from Reno. The portions are generous. Their breakfasts come with side options that include fruit, country potatoes, or biscuits & gravy. Usually b&g is an additional charge. I ordered the tofu scramble with added avocado, side of b&g and english muffin. I was expecting one biscuit but was delighted to find two. The tofu scramble was perfectly balanced in its ingredients: spinach, tomato, cheese, tofu, mushrooms, and avocado. Also ordered a side of fries to share. They're the steak fries (like red robin). Friendly staff. Quaint decor. Will try to be back when I'm in the area again. read more

Most visit on your morning drive to Tahoe area!!! Their breakfast plates are HUGE and hearty. They also have healthy options too like slow cooked oatmeal plate or veggies omelet that comes with about half a box of sprouts I also highly I meant Highly recommend to ask for fruits instead of potatoes. You will get plenty of berries, orange, Apple, watermelon, melon and banana Each of the table has different jams so don't shy away from making new friends while asking to trade strawberry jam to orange marmalade read more

It had a touch of spice and was garnished with celery, a green olive, a spicy green bean, pepperchini, a lime, and a pearl onion. For lunch, we decided to order of the weekend specials menu! I ordered the Carnitas & chorizo Huevos Stack and she ordered the Chicken Fried Steak Dip... service was good. While we waited for our food, my client had to use the restroom twice. From where we were sat, it was quite a long walk, but it was an accessible ramp she was able to use since she has a cane. The steps would've been too much for her. When our meals arrived... both were stunning. My huevos Stack was not all it was cracked up to be. Although they had great crispy tortillas underneath, it had a lot of other soft foods on it that didn't give it much texture. Refried beans, over medium eggs, pico de gallo, red enchilada sauce, and not much meat on it to go around the plate to even it out. Dianne's Country Fried Steak Dip looked and tasted like it was created by someone that knows their breakfasts! Between 2 slices of parmesan toasted bread, there was a thin country fried steak, with over medium eggs, cheese, and BACON!!! And a side of gravy to dip into. That was a million times better than the huevos Stack! So I politely asked our server if I could switch to that special. She got the order in right away and it was out fast. Every bite had the perfect amount of flavor and their sausage gravy tasted insanely good! Both my client and I went home worth half of our meal. She was so happy and it melted my heart that I helped her have an amazing birthday. With the help of Awful Annie's, they helped her birthday become a home run!!! Delicious bloody Mary's, double delicious on our Country Fried Steak Dips, and fine service from the best in town! Thank you Awful Annie's!!

You can just tell that either they have so much business they don't care much about service or they're just not quite sure how to dial everything in to balance the front of house and kitchen delivery. If I have any specific suggestions to offer: tell your customers upfront about your kitchen wait times. Nobody wants to wait an hour for breakfast food. Make sure to follow up with your customers and ask them if they want anything else to drink besides water it seems like a really easy way to make extra money.

My daughter ordered the Carnitas Omelet (Carnitas omelet with jack cheese, black beans, red onions, avocado, and black olives, topped with sour cream. Served with sourdough toast and fresh fruit) with strawberries. I ordered the Huevos Ranchero's with eggs over medium (Corn tortillas, refried beans, 2 eggs, sour cream, avocado, homemade salsa, and cheese cheese. Also served with a side of salsa.) We didn't wait long, it arrived within 10 minutes. Also, after smelling their delicious coffee, I had to have a cup! A+!!!! My daughter let me try her Carnitas Omelet. Their Carnitas is on point! It was tender and has great flavor! Her omelet was beautifully cooked, being that it was gorgeous, yellow and fluffy. My Huevos Ranchero's was crispy in the bottom as I requested. I love the topping of avocado. The only thing I would change is to get all the salsa on the side. There was quite a bit on the Huevos Ranchero's themselves and it was a little overwhelming. Next time, I'll order it completely on the side. The menu has it listed as homemade... it tasted a little bit like it was Pace chunky salsa. I didn't even touch the side of salsa that also comes in the side and I wasn't sure what the extra side of tortillas was for, but I took those home. My daughter took home about half of her 3 egg omelet and some toast. Maddy was a great server. Everyone helped each other out by doing coffee refills for all tables (not just their own), running out hot food, and helping clean up tables as people finished their plates. Great team work! I recently visited this breakfast place with high hopes, but unfortunately, my experience left much to be desired. The food was decent, but what really impacted my visit was the service. Upon arriving, I noticed the place was busy, which I can understand might lead to some delays. However, what disappointed me was the rudeness of the staff. Instead of acknowledging the wait and apologizing, they seemed dismissive and uninterested in attending to customers' needs. When I politely asked for a glass of water, I was taken aback when the server flat out refused, citing the busyness as the reason. Water is a basic necessity, and I couldn't believe they would deny such a simple request. It's disheartening to see a lack of respect for customers, especially when we are the reason for their business. The overall atmosphere was tense, and the experience left me with a negative impression I hope the management takes note of these issues and works towards improving their customer service. Until then, I'll be taking my breakfast cravings elsewhere where I can enjoy a good meal without feeling unwelcome. read more

The turkey burger is outstanding. Its a white meat patty, very tasty. I love the bun, the condiments, the produce on the plate. One of the sides options is potato salad-- its supposedly "homemade" and looks really great, but its rather bland....you need to sprinkle some hot sauce & pepper on it (Cholula & Tabasco are on the tables). Portions are still ample, as I see nearly every table needing a box to take some of their food home! I was barely able to finish my plate.... Service is always prompt and efficient. Even though a brand new "Black Bear Diner" just opened in Auburn, but they will need to be really great to beat Katrina's for Breakfast and Lunch. Hands down, this is the best option on Weds thru Sunday for 6 am to 2 pm grub. read more

Would give zero stars if I could. Been here a number of times today was the worst. Waited over an hour when we were told it would be 15 minutes. Saw others get tables that came in on the fly while we had our name placed. My two sons are mixed Asian and there is NO doubt this place is racist AD. The wannabe surfer looking dude with the bleached blonde hair completely stained me and my two sons down. When we do finally hear seated a lady in a black dress was taking to the table behind us about drink sizes and picked up my sons water randomly (rude as hell not to mention disgusting putting hands on a customers drink!). Hope this place gets shut down! Oh, and the old grumpy bleached blonde hag is so RUDE. read more

This is one of my favorite breakfast spots in the entire Sacramento area. I've been to a bunch of places and tried all sorts of items, but Katrina's is like Crack, once you get a taste you'll never get enough! My definite must try items are Lemon Yogurt Pancakes because they are packed with a perfect balance of lemon flavor and the texture is just so soft and spongy I love them! Chicken Fried Steak and Biscuits because I've never had such and perfect balance of flavor in my chicken fry and they top it with the best gravy I've ever eaten. It doesn't have a very strong breakfast sausage flavor in the gravy which makes it perfect because I just want to keep on eating it! Lol read more

Don't miss the Katrina's experience if you are ever passing through Auburn! They are well known for fabulous omelets (Don's omelet is my favorite - every ingredient you can think of and LOTS of cheese), which are served all day, and their bacon avocado hamburger is the best burger in town. Their sandwiches are served with a very generous portion of perfectly cooked steak fries. Don't be discouraged if there appears to be a wait, as it is a small restaurant. It's worth every minute! Their portions are plenty for two to share. Save room for the homemade carrot cake. read more

I finally make a short trip to Auburn to try out the legendary Katrina. I was there around 1 pm and the place was still pack, that's a very good sign. The restaurant only serve breakfast between 7 am to 2 pm, I ordered a pancake with an egg and Bacon. The pancake was surprisingly big and surprisingly good; it was fresh, velvety soft and simply delicious. Overall, Katrina is little bit small but the food is very satisfying. xox read more

Service was quick but not super attentive, could have used a little more personality. I really really wanted to love the food but on both omelettes we ordered the oil used to cook them literally pooled on the plate...definitely overwhelming. Maybe it was a fluke that both orders had so much oil and we will probably try Katrina's again. But since this was our first time here it didn't leave a good impression! read more

Not sure what is so special about this place. We came a couple weeks ago and it was so crowded it feels like you are sitting right next to other tables. The food had a great presentation but was lacking in flavor. Also both of our plates had a ton of oil pooling along the edges. Lack luster food and uncomfortable atmosphere means we will not be back, way too many other options. read more

Its worth the wait if you've got time on your hands, but for us busy folks, its impossible to get in or out in a typical lunch hour. finally went here over the weekend, and had one of the best dining experiences ever. it was a bit of a wait (obviously a very popular spot to eat)....but it was well worth it. smiles were abound as hungry eaters feasted on large portions and homestyle food. The best. Only issue is they do not take credit card; local checks or cash only. The food is always good. Be ready on busy days to not get a table right away. Had breakfast at Katrina's on a Saturday morning. The people were in line waiting outside. We waited 15 minutes out in the cold. It proved to be well worth it.
