I live in a 2 bedroom apartment, which is quite large. The building is very quiet, I've lived here…read morefor 8 years and I might have heard my neighbors a dozen times. The downsides are no AC, you have to put in your own and they charge you an annual fee for them. There is a small laundry room in the basement that includes 10 washers and 10 dryers. It is a 12 story building. Lastly, there is very little parking outside. However, they do have underground parking but there is a fee for it. I think it is a nice building and plan to live here for the foreseeable future.

The staff are polite and have always been able to answer my questions. They are there when you need them, but not bothering you with unnecessary things. Rent is reasonable for the area, and the properties are kept in good condition through the on staff maintenance team. I am happy to recommend them.

It is starting to get really rough in terms of being able to use the property. At one point my dogs…read moreand child and I could walk freely. Now there is so much dog poo all over the place outside we feel trapped. It would be nice to move someplace with refreshing outdoors. Due to the uptick in fecal matter everywhere I allowed my dog to use dirt to pee in. I was notified not to do that even with snow on the ground and flower plucked. We then used the grass. Because of the filthy property per say, every animal and person in my home is sick starting with the animals. If you plan to move someplace youre children can run outside look elsewhere unfortunately. The entire backfield has dog poo issues with random needles about. Then your own property also can get you sick riddled in fecal matter. I wish I hadn't moved here knowing we no longer can be safety outside unless we drive elsewhere. Really wish the grass wasn't so filthy, my whole family got sick now stepping in other dogs stuff at 119 nonquon. really wish i knew it would be like this before settling... so trapped now with economy... if you have kids or animals, safest bet is to find a cleaner area to live. our quality of life has dropped so much over the months. i mentioned how much dog poop was everywhere nothing was done, unless it was to notify about dog pee in garden dirt with snow over it, so obliging we now suffer the consequences. our quality of life has dropped for a while here, something changed over the years, and now we are stuck with a sickness not easily going away. think twice if you have kids or animals, they deserve clean grass. this isnt right.

Many places were not in an area that I wanted to live. I found what I thought was a nice area and applied. The BS I had to go through to be accepted was horrendous and ridiculous. I should have just bought a condo!!! Anyway, we moved into 400 Grenfell. We met a lot of very nice tenants and found it to be a very friendly place, UNTIL!!!! They can't make up their mind on parking space price, Notices intended just for us are not mailed to us or even slid under the door, just folded and tucked beside the door knob for anyone to remove or read!. So, on the 15th of this month, we will have officially been tenants. I received a WARNING OF EVICTION for past due rent of $51.62! WHAT!!!! Apparently they stuck a notice of a rental increase in that amount several months ago on our door. We never saw it. I will admit that one month we did miss putting our rent cheque in the box on the first of the month. Another WARNING OF EVICTION stuck to our door! I had intended to fix the apartment up and increase it's value, but now I am having doubts! If only the management could be as nice as the tenants!

Things are looking up here at The ol White oaks! It's been somewhat better here since my last…read morereview. New elevators are really a big plus! Still have some serious problems but not absolutely awful anymore. If Summer comes without constant construction and if they could hire more staff perhaps it could get even better. I can see a few cracks where the light is getting in at any rate.

I have lived here for a year and by far the most awful place I have lived (and I have moved around…read morequite a bit). There are bugs constantly there and no matter how many times someone comes in to "get rid of them" they come back! Cockroaches come out of everywhere and really invade the place. The staff and management do little to help and the elevators are never working. In a day I sped about half hour to an hour waiting for elevators and they spend their money redoing the lobby instead of fixing the elevators. Highly recommend you don't come here unless it's your last resort. I don't know a single person who lives here who doesn't complain about this awful place.

Overall, very good, despite some petty thefts by PSWs. Biggest complaint is that they rigged the…read morewashers to use only half the water ordinarily required for a full load. Clothes didn't get rinsed properly, and my mother suffered itchy skin rashes on her torso. We didn't know why. Finally we noticed by chance that the washers didn't fill, and switched her to "free" laundry detergent at half measure. Management said everybody knew about the washers because they sent around a notice. Problem is not all residents can read and understand notices, and family members who actually do the laundry didn't know, resulting in unnecessary suffering of residents.

Last year, we moved my mom into Harmony Hill. After an extensive leak in my mom's apartment…read moreceiling, they had to move her to a temporary unit while they did extensive repairs to the apartment to fix the leak and the subsequent damage. After months of construction and renovations to repair the leak and the subsequent damage, we were thrilled to hear that they were ready for my mom to move back into her original unit. However, after surveying the unit prior to moving my mom back in, we were appalled at the state of the unit as everything was covered in drywall dust. Everything - her shoes and jackets in her closet, her clothing, her kitchen appliances, her bedding, etc. drywall dust was everywhere! When we brought our concerns up to management, we were told that in their opinion, the unit was in an acceptable state for my mom to move back in. They also told us she is no longer welcome or able to stay in the temporary unit, that they had moved her into while the construction and renovations were underway, now that they feel her apartment is in acceptable condition to move back into. Shame on you Harmony Hill Retirement Community. Our seniors deserve better.
