The office manager called me back and after I explained the situation, she said that they had made a mistake "because they are only human", but there was nothing they could do about the extra bill. I reiterated what she said to me (they made a mistake but they wouldn't fix the mistake) and she said "this is the medical profession, not retail. We don't fix things in the medical profession". Then she proceeded to tell me that I don't have to pay it, but that they will just send it to collections. She had a raised voice, and was interrupting me every time I tried to say anything and was 100% unprofessional. She sounded like she was in her 30's without much life experience. Dr. Wallace seemed knowledgeable and fine. (When she inserted the pellet, I wasn't numbed all the way, but she immediately fixed it and it was a fine experience.) Ultimately, I don't think the pellet is rocket science - you cut, insert and bandage it. But since they are expensive, the price took me to Dr. Wallace. The truth is - I would have gone to Dr. Wallace for the next 10+ years for a pellet. But her receptionist was rude and defensive, I never got a return call on my first inquisition, and her office manager was ready to fight with me as soon as she did call. I won't be returning. And I have a sister, mother-in-law and sister-in-law who have already made appointments with her. Plus several others who I have given her name to. Pretty sure not one of them will be going....because I told them it was only $400! Dr. Wallace - your staff is a disservice to you. Customer service is still essential! For example, I had a valid concern for back/pelvic floor pain, and she immediately told me it's "a hip issue" and after seeing a physical therapist; it was not "just a hip issue." I know there are 20+ providers at OCWG and each one works different schedules so there will be room for error with scheduling but I wish the system was set up differently to avoid this issue. -- Review separate from the scheduling mishap: The person I worked with when I first scheduled the appointment weeks ago and the other person today that helped me reschedule were helpful and had professional phone demeanor. Recently I had an appointment scheduled with a provider who was an NP and apparently only a doctor was allowed to review my results with me from some tests I had done a month ago. Because of this they canceled my appointment the day of and rescheduled but did not schedule an appointment long enough to conduct an annual physical exam, which I asked for via messages in my Athena portal and when I scheduled my appointment on the phone. At my appointment I waited 20 minutes to have the medical assistant say "oh I was looking for you!" I was in one spot in the waiting room the whole time. Lastly they billed the wrong insurance policy and I received a bill for $800 for something I know is covered by my insurance. I am still rectifying this issues made by their staff and I'm really upset that I will likely have to find a new doctor because of the medical staff's inability to do their job.
