If your child is hyper or neurodivergent or if there is there first out of home care experience - look for someplace with more empathy, patience, and parent communication.

The enrollment process itself was straightforward. Unfortunately, our experience after enrollment raised concerns for me regarding staff training, classroom management, communication with parents, and the unenrollment process. My son had recently experienced an abrupt transition from a daycare he loved, and he had only been enrolled for a couple of weeks when his teacher pulled me aside at pickup and said, "He was doing a phenomenal job listening the first week or so, and now he's just not listening. Is there something going on at home?" I was surprised that the first explanation offered was something happening outside of school rather than examining what might be contributing to the behavior within the classroom environment. At the time, my son had no history of behavioral issues, and I believed he was still adjusting to a major transition. I also suspected he may have been under-stimulated. I suggested that when he appeared disengaged, he might benefit from being redirected toward a task or activity. Compounding my concern was the fact that another child had repeatedly been aggressive toward my son, including incidents of physical hitting. We brought these concerns to the school's attention, but the behavior continued, leaving me feeling that the situation was not being adequately monitored or addressed. After discussing the situation with educators from other preschool programs, I learned that many early childhood professionals first evaluate classroom dynamics, developmental needs, peer interactions, and environmental factors before assuming challenges originate at home. That perspective aligned more closely with my own understanding of child development. Ultimately, I decided not to keep my son enrolled through kindergarten and informed the school of my decision. What followed was the most disappointing part of the experience. Shortly after notifying the school, I received multiple calls encouraging me to keep my child enrolled. During one conversation, I was told that withdrawing him could result in being responsible for 20% of future kindergarten tuition because staffing decisions had already been made. When I expressed surprise, I was told, "This is a business, and we hired accordingly." While I understand that schools must plan financially, the conversation felt focused on retaining revenue rather than understanding the concerns that led to our decision. For an organization that places a strong emphasis on faith and community, I left feeling that financial considerations were prioritized over family experience. Every family's experience will be different, but ours ultimately left us feeling unheard. We are confident there are many excellent educational options available, and we are grateful to have found a different path for our son.

Ms. Mary comes off as very sweet, fun, and godly until she is having a bad day and wants to target you and your child which will result in you receiving multiple phone calls throughout the week saying that your child is misbehaving. Ms. Mary asks a lot of personal questions and has a very high turnover rate with staff, she gossips about her staff's business and is just overall messy. She brags about having different professional connections within different state departments which can be very threatening. I later found several reviews on yelp from other mothers expressing their concerns about Ms. Mary's behavior. I tried very hard to work with Mary, wanted things to work out for my child, and even asked if the daycare was a good fit for us. Ms. Mary avoided being honest and continued trying to give me a hard time even after I expressed my desperate need for childcare and work. I pulled my child from the daycare after my father passed away and Ms. Mary took advantage of that sensitive moment and called for my child to be picked up early after she had just been dropped off at daycare. With very low vibrational energy, she uses God as a cover-up for her dark behavior. I wish her soul healing because at some point everyone can't be telling a lie about her and these people don't know each other

I would think twice about sending your child here. They put up a great façade and make it look…read morelike it is a wonderful place to send your child, but in reality it is not. Their communication is terrible. Takes them days/weeks to respond by email. My child could never come home and tell me what he learned. He would literally cry in the morning because he was scared of the head teacher/owner Ms. De Alwis. I ended up pulling him out early and not finishing the year. I did not tell them, just never sent him back. They NEVER called me to see if he was ok, or to try and find out why he he was no longer coming to school. As a school and a teacher, you have the obligation to check on your students and their well being. It is called a welfare check. But nothing from them... They also do not do conferences. When you ask to to set up a conference they act like they are doing you a favor...and when you do get a conference, they could not tell me anything specific about how my child was doing - just that he was doing great...when in reality he was not. When he started there he could write his name really well, but as the year went on, he digressed. They did not correct him or try to help him get back to where he was. It was a very sad and frustrating year. Thankfully, we found a different school that has been just wonderful! Further, we have a friend that also sent their child to Misty Mountain as well. After a year, they decided to take him out as well, and find a different school for him - for many of the same reasons listed above. Overall, very disappointing, sad, and frustrating experience.

The Montessori method is used here, and it's wonderful to see how much the children learn. My son knows more countries than I knew at the end of elementary school, has studied the foods and cultures around the world, learns the science of trees, plants, animals, and more, and is so ahead in math and reading (close to 2nd grade level) that kindergarten is going to be pretty boring for him next year. They also learn about famous artists and music composers and work on practical life skills. At this school, your child learns at their pace with lots of fabulous learning tools, and there is no limit to what they can do. They work independently, with the teacher, and in small groups. The classroom is multi-age, allowing for the youngest kids to learn from the oldest, and the oldest to learn kindness and compassion while helping the younger children. Karen understands the importance of play and creativity for young children, while at the same time never underestimating how much they can learn and how eager they are to acquire knowledge.
