This is a great AYCE sushi spot. I haven't been here in about a year, but they redid the AYCE menu with more appetizers at some point, and they have some yummy options I haven't seen at other AYCE places. The restaurant is clean, the fish is fresh, and the service was great. There was one server taking care of the whole restaurant, and he made sure to keep the food coming quickly. All that being said, it is still an AYCE place. You cannot come here expecting what you get at a regular sushi restaurant. There will be lots of rice in your rolls. The sashimi pieces are very small, but most AYCE around here don't even offer sashimi. Come here with the right expectations, and you'll love it!

Sweetheart sushi ! So cute for our anniversary, was not expecting little hearts. Love!

Highly recommend this place if you're looking for some yummy sushi! Beyond the sushi, as soon as you walk in you're met with beautiful traditional Chinese artworks in a softly lit and roomy layout. The workers are very warm and welcoming and happy to help you with any and every question you may have. And finally the food. The food was absolutely delicious. So fresh and presented beautifully, and all at a very affordable price! Will be making this a regular spot for sure. :)

Probably the best AYCE sushi experience in Pittsburgh, but even then, I wouldn't necessarily recommend. Pros: *Unlike other AYCE establishments, Katana's rolls and nigiri are NOT accompanied by a ridiculous amount of rice. *You can order sashimi (max 15 of each type of fish) so you can save yourself a bunch of rice. *Seaweed salad is pretty good, though slightly sweet. *Friendly and attentive service. Cons: *Rolls aren't particularly tasty. They all taste like variations on supermarket spicy tuna. We ordered 5 rolls total and couldn't taste a difference between three of them. *The sashimi is thin and while the fish seems fresh enough, it isn't very good.

Good sushi but nothing too outstanding. Took a long time to get delivered, too. I did really enjoy the spicy shrimp roll I don't see that many other places.

Haven't been to Katana in a while and wow did they step up their sushi game. It's all you can eat but it's made to order (not buffet style). It was incredibly fresh and I found a new favorite roll that I've never seen anywhere before called the Snow White roll-made with snow crab, avocado and topped with white tuna- so good! AYCE was $23.95 which is a little pricier but for me and my trusty sidekick it was worth it because it was fresher and tastier than we both remembered and it was so close we could walk there. You can also order from some soups and appetizers along with all the sushi but we focused mainly on the sushi. I can't comment on the hibachi or Chinese food since we ate only the sushi. P.s. they have reasonable prices for bottles of wine too!

I wont give it more than one star, wasn't impressed at all. The Sushi had no taste and service was mediocre.

Finally, I was determined and I booked out probably 2 1/2 months in advance.... And ended up going in the dead of winter. I know that I would've enjoyed my experience much more if we could've sat in the garden, that's probably an excellent vibe. I'm a spicy marg lover so I tried-new person same old mistakes-it didn't really strike me as spicy but more so smoky and I wanted spicy. We did the khao yum-it was unique, I think I would really have loved this. If it was hot out it seems like it would be very refreshing and light and more ideal for the spring and summer and like I said we went in the dead of winter. I did the beef tenderloin as my main and it was good, it wasn't too spicy, had a nice flavor, but I don't know that I would order it again. If it wasn't so hard to get a reservation, I would definitely come here more. I really liked the vibe and the aesthetic.

I wouldn't really call this a supper club to be honest but the place definitely carries a house music bar vibe and the back bar area and seating is very dimly lit, perfect for cozying up and enjoying a drink late night. The ladies' room was so dark, I mistook it for a storage area because I could only make out a white ladder in the corner that was being used as cute shelving. The place is seat yourself. Our waiter was not super friendly and didn't offer to give us napkins or anything when our wobbly table caused our drinks to splash all over the place. The cook served our chicken with a big smile and happy interaction and we really loved his personality. The bartender also stopped by to bus our table and he was very pleasant as well. We enjoyed the perfectly fried small plate cauliflower with the plum sauce and the fried cheese/garlic wonton bites with the sriracha mayo spicy dipping sauce. The fried chicken breast on the large plate was slightly overcooked with a maple gochuchang sauce that was very bland. We were so thankful that the large plate fried chicken came with a side salad to offer some respite from the heaviness of the fried dishes. It would have been great to have some side acidic or fresh vegetable options like Kimchi or something. Maybe we tried the wrong dishes and there are other not fried things that are delicious? The dirty martini cocktail was just so-so, not really much flavor at all, but the mojito was very good and refreshing. It's probably a good late-night place for a bite and drink.

I asked our waiter if the portion size of chirashi was good and he said it's a good size and that they have carry out boxes if I don't finish. Tell me why this was the smallest chirashi I have ever seen anywhere. The slices of fish were thinner than the sliced ginger. If you stacked all of the slices, it would make a normal size of one piece of nigiri. The slice of tuna was so thin, you could see through it, much less taste it. I was still starving after and got the fried chicken nuggets which were a good portion, with good crunch. The sauce on the chicken was devoid of flavor except for the SALT. They were even able to take the chicken flavor away from the meat which is kind of an accomplishment in itself. My friend got the Sichuan pork dumplings and the dumplings were drowning in soy sauce so much so that you couldn't taste the Sichuan spice (if there was any). There's a sushi restaurant nearby that gives me food poisoning every time I eat there and I would have much rather have eaten there than Soba. I would definitely recommend this place to my enemies because they'll leave broke and still hungry.

The ginger dressing was very light and zesty and not so much peanut-flavored like you typically get. The miso soup was very rich and savory. As for the entrée, the Bento box had the red curry chicken with vegetables, spring roll with plum sauce, rice, and some sushi. Everything in the box was fresh, quality ingredients. I especially liked the crispy spring roll (not greasy and had great flavor). The sushi didn't miss either. For the red curry, was milder than I was expecting and would have liked a little more pepper spice to it. But it was still pretty good. The hot tea I ordered didn't taste like typical hot tea; something almost earthy and nutty about it, but it was delicious. The people working at the restaurant were gracious and speedy with the service (it's a family business which is always good to see). This was a combination that I did not expect to actually work, but it does. The bartender does an amazing job that very few in my experience have been able to do, which is blend the drink to where it is not just 90% alcohol and 10% whatever else. This allows you to really experience the drink and its fancy little name. Food: Entree - Godzilla: This was recommended by my waiter at the time because it was the first time ever that I have tried sushi and I was not disappointed. This dish was sooooo delicious. Dessert - Churro Cheesecake: What can I say? It's cheesecake and churros. Not a big fan of sweets, but I do love me a good cheesecake. Service: 5 / 5 - No complaints. Waiter was very attentive and made sure to check in periodically. He was very passionate about his job and provided strong recommendations with his opinion on the choices when asked. When he found out that this was my first time having sushi, he took the time to explain how the menu works, which I have horrible memory, but appreciate deeply. Wouldn't mind having him as a regular waiter in the future. Vibe: 4 / 5 - Restaurant and food presentation is very pretty, clean and aim to provide you with that "fancy restaurant" experience, that so many people have come to expect. It's a very chill vibe and lighting is not bad at all. Overall: 4 / 5 - Normally, I have a rule that I don't have ocean related dishes in an area where the ocean is not readily accessible. However, an acquaintance once said, "you have to have several mid dishes before you enjoy a really good dish" and she was right. Although, I wouldn't call social house mid. I enjoyed my experience overall and the staff was very friendly. The cost-food value is on the higher end, but in my opinion it was worth it.
