Looking down the stairs to the parking lot, bathrooms to the left. Man, that was hard!

Nice location right across from the lake and a really nice host (who looks like Santa Claus). We had three sites together to avoid other campers being too close, but we were still close enough to disturb another camper on our second night. Sound echos pretty far and loudly. Beware of the LONG flights of stairs from the parking lot and bathrooms and then another small hill to hike up to the camping sites. Pretty hard bringing all our gear up and then back down. There are no wood or charcoal fires allowed at this time so bring a butane stove. There is a clean water spigot for washing and making coffee. The bathrooms are as clean as they could be, but bring wipes! We also brought pee buddies for the girls that came in handy, because who wants to walk down all those stairs in the middle of the night?

It's been so long since I've gone camping. When I told my honey I wanted to go camping, he jumped at the chance to find us a place...but and there is a big BUT!!! I had some rules. #1 rule: It has to have a flushing toilet. No out house, no digging a hole and taking a crapper and filling it back up and no porta-potty. #2 rule: Needs to have a shower. #3 rule: Needs to have running water. Not a river besides it. An actual faucet that disburses water. Last but certainly not least, it has to have a fire pit because camping isn't camping if you can't make s'mores. With all these stipulations, did my honey come true!! I would say 3 out of 4. When he booked this site, he thought it had a shower but unfortunately it did not. The nearest shower is about 5-10 miles away and was coin operated. He already booked it and paid for it but was willing to cancel it and look for another site with a shower. I told him it was ok. What's two days of roughing it?? I think this OCD girl can do it. It's not the end of the world. When we arrived at the campsite, we headed to the "host" trailer. She explained to us where our site was and the bear box. Yes, they have bears here. Luckily we didn't have to witness it. The Bear Box is basically a steel locker located on your site where you store all your belongings. Our location was very spacious. The only disadvantage was you have to park your car at the parking lot and carry your stuff to the camp site. Our camp site was not that far, just up a small hill. It gave us exercise. They have sites on the lower level (Site 1-3) which I don't recommend since it's right off the road and you can hear the cars driving by. They only have a total of 9 sites (I think) and none of them are trailer accessible. This is moderate "roughing it" camping...yes you have to pitch a tent. None of that trailer bed allowed here. There's a lake across the street that you can swim in. It's cold at first but once you dip your body in, you'll get use to it. This is what we did Sunday afternoon to wash up, since there was no shower. So ladies you're probably wondering did I survive without a shower. Yes, I did but I used a lot of disposable cleansing wash cloths. In the end the camping adventure was a lot of fun. We definitely OD on s'mores. Learned how to cook Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner on a fire pit. My honey even made "brewed" coffee for me. We helped a fellow first time camper put up a tent together. But the best part was experiencing it for the first time with my honey and just being able to relax without worrying about the world outside. Not having to worry about what you're wearing and putting makeup/fixing hair. That's the life. Must have when going camping: Tent, Sleeping Bag, Air Mattress, Air Mattress Pump, Sleeping Bag, Pillow, Tarp, Stove, Lantern, Large Water Jug container, folding chair, Shovel, Axe, Cooler, Cutting Board and utensils (knife, spatula, tongs, can opener and etc...) Food/Water (just don't be like me and pack the entire kitchen...LOL), Garbage bag. These are the main necessities but at least you can survive one day.

Awesome experience! Great location, beautiful view. The sites are "walk-up" (which a lot of reviews made seem like a hike but really means one flight of stairs or a short trail from parking lot). Tents only - no loud RVs or trailers. There are only nine campsites and they are really spaced out from one another. The host stays in a camper in the parking lot and was helpful and friendly! Campgrounds were quiet and peaceful & the lake is right across the road, along with picnic tables and grills. Perfect weekend getaway.

Very nice campground. Spacious sites, clean, and right across from the lake. The kids loved skipping rocks and dipping their feet in the lake. The best thing is there are no RVs up where the tents are. This is what camping is all about. The traffic noise and absence of a shower took away one star, but it's not going to stop my family from coming back.

This is a great summer campground for someone who bikes. The bike trail is literally across the street, and so is the road to a great off roading trail! There is a pier right across the street, a rocky beach and an awesome view of the lake! When we went, there was no one else there except for one couple somewhere in the distance. It is literally a dream come true - BUT it is very close to the road, which is the only thing that prevented me from giving it 5 stars. The traffic starts up early so you must plan to be up. Otherwise your wake up call won't be birds and camping sounds but morning traffic. The spot is so great that I am willing to overlook that...

So you cant pull your RV right up to camp and blare music out of it all night, which is a plus in my book.

(A coffee shop [Coffee Connexion] is just up the way, an easy walk in the morning.) That said, the site is very close to the road, so it's noisy, even at night. Earplugs recommended for a good night's sleep. The road quiets down considerably in the middle of the night, but that doesn't mean the occasional cargo truck won't come roaring by. The facilities are good, with restrooms and showers conveniently located. The men's restroom ran out of paper towels by Sunday evening, but was restocked by Monday afternoon. The showers cost quarters: minimum 50 cents for 5 min (although I times it twice, and it goes closer to 6 or 6 1/2 minutes). There are no lights at the site, except for at the restroom, so have flashlights or headlamps. There are bear boxes to stow food and smellies overnight and while you're away (bring a lock for when you're away). You can't wash dishes at the site spigots or the bathroom, so have an alternate dishwashing plan. The spigot provide good drinking water. Overall, nice campsite. I'd be willing to return.

I wanted a real camping trip. However being my first trip I shortly realized that I actually really liked that fact. We were able to pick up the things we didn't bring and it was so great. It's not a very busy town so I still felt like we were camping in the woods. The campgrounds themselves are great. We stayed at site 19 and it was facing the parking lot and like I said I was initially upset but honestly I loved the spot. It has a water spout right next to it, a short walk to the pier and if you're paddlboarding a short walk to get into the water. (Just know that you'll be walking on a short rocky path so sturdy sandals or water shoes will be helpful) It's also close to a coffee shop and I spent almost every day waking up for sunset and then getting a coffee right after. Such a peaceful experience. The check in process is very easy. The majority of the campsites had pros to their location and the area is so beautiful that if you don't like your spot, you'll be too busy with activities to care. The restrooms are clean and always stocked. They have showers that cost $1 for 10 minutes or 50¢ for 5 mins. The campsites have a fire pit to make your s'mores as well as grills to make food. They have food lockers and some have locking capabilities so bring a lock just in case. They also offer 10$ bundles of firewood. Some spots don't have too much shade and some have no shade over the picnic benches so having a canopy was so helpful especially since the sun can be very strong. Make sure to bring a hammock and sunscreen!

July 13 - 18, 2025 - Tahoma…read more Very nice campground. Some sites better than others; check the site map online before you book. Trailers are limited to 26 feet, and campers or motorhomes can be up to 32 feet. This campground is frequently visited by bears! Keep food and ice chests locked away at all times. Bear lockers are provided; use them, and keep them closed up tight. If you don't properly store your food and ice chests, you will most likely be visited by a ranger who may cite you, or a bear who will eat all your food. The bathrooms are small, just a few stalls, and you need to bring your own soap and paper towels. I didn't visit the showers so I can't comment on them. What I loved most was the access to a couple of forest trails (fire roads) right from the campground. They're dog-friendly as long as your pup is leashed, making them a perfect way to enjoy the fresh air and explore the surrounding woods. There's a trail to the beach, but dogs are only allowed partway; they're not permitted on beaches or dirt trails.

A beautiful place to camp in Tahoma…read more Both times I camped at Sugar Pine Point Campground were great. There are some differences between the individual campsites, so prior to reserving a spot, check with your group and decide what your priorities are. You can choose individual sites or make it a party and book in the group camping loop. Each site features a water spigot, picnic table, bear locker, fire pit with grill, and concrete parking slab. You also have access to park rangers and camp hosts that sell fire wood bundles for $10 in cash. The bathrooms are well maintained. The bathrooms near the campsites I stayed at (157 and 107) both were separated by gender and had two flush toilet stalls and two sinks. There are also a few outlets in each bathroom. There are separate buildings with showers that charge by the minute. They're a bit pricey (if I recall correctly it's $1 for 3 minutes). Be sure to bring your own hand soap as the bathrooms don't furnish any. This campground is located at a convenient 1/4 mile walk from the west side of Lake Tahoe. There are a bunch of scenic trails that take you directly to the lakefront where you can walk, run, or bike. Just be careful, it can be a little bumpy or full of sugar pine cones. The campground also offers a ton of free activities! You can get a free kayak and history lesson, a free day of cross-country skiing, group hike, or meditate under the trees. Sugar Pine Point is the perfect blend of civilized and remote. You're deeply entrenched in nature while having all the necessary modern facilities. This is a must stay but watch for bears!
