I've been to Kashima a handful of times. There are few good things and more bad things about Kashima that unfortunately push my review to 3 stars.
Food:
Most of the food is very good. I believe Kashima has the best sashimi in the area. The majority of everything feels fresh. Recently my wife and I each ordered a miso soup that just felt old. Other than that I can't think of negative things to say about the food itself.
Service:
I'll give Kashima the benefit of the doubt. They're a newer business snd they're still figuring things out. With that said the food comes out extremely slow. Every time we dine in they forget to bring us something we've ordered. There's no need for trying to order things in the way you want them because they'll come out randomly. They've recently gotten better at taking used plates quickly which is appreciated.
Cleanliness:
The restaurant itself is very clean. Never had anything wrong with tables or chairs. What we've noticed is sometimes cups smell fishy. Empty wine glasses smell of wine. Today when I ordered a beer they brought the can either a wine glass and it's uneasy smelling wine while not drinking wine. Or sipping on water smelling fish from the dishes in the same load of the dishwasher. read more
