Looking for a regular coffee hangout in San Miguel de Allende, Jamie W and I didn't need to look…read moreany further. Conveniently located on the cobblestoned artery between our hotel and Zona Centro's social hub, Jardin Allende, this three-floor cafe was compact but surprisingly relaxing given the constrained layout of the seating. The cafe's name translates appropriately to "good aromas" since the roasted beans wafted throughout the space. On our first visit, we arrived in the middle of the afternoon and treated ourselves to the MX$85 Affogato, a nice combo of vanilla gelato and an espresso shot (Photo 10). We came back the following morning when the place was literally percolating with customers. This time we shared a table on the rooftop. What I appreciated was how the owner had no compunction about telling laptoppers not to monopolize tables clearly set up for multiple people. This time we had true beverages with their own twists. I had the MX$60 Cococcino, a cappuccino with a touch of coconut oil, and Jamie went for the MX$70 Iced Buzz Latte with honey and a double espresso shot (Photo 9). Both perfectly satisfied because beyond the quality of the beans, we saw the exacting process they followed in their execution. It was a smooth brew in a chill space that was obviously attracting a lot of expats. I wish we had more time for a third visit. COFFEE - 5 stars...high quality, locally sourced, disciplined execution AMBIANCE - 4.5 stars...casual and relaxing in a rustic space SERVICE - 5 stars...very thoughtful approach here TOTAL - 5 stars...a go-to coffee house, for sure RELATED - Exploring San Miguel de Allende? I had El Rancho, which was a quinoa bowl with roasted veggies, sauce and eggs. Everything was absolutely delicious, coffee and tea were great. I got a crème brûlée latte to go that was one of the best I've ever had. The servers were attentive and helpful. The place is small, but great energy. We sat on the rooftop patio which had a nice relaxing vibe.

I have gotten my coffee and pastries and hung-out hassle free for at least an hour the last few days. I have been staying at my friend's hacienda literally across the street so this place was incredibly convenient. Today at around 935, I came in to get my coffee and banana bread, and was also hoping to sit down and read the news. I only had a few more hours left before heading to the airport to fly back home to Chicago and was determined to enjoy every last minute I can squeeze in before flying back to reality. So imagine my disbelief when I placed my order and I was told I can only get it to go and that I was not allowed to stay because they are closed for maintenance. I told the server/cashier well how come everyone is still here enjoying their drink/food/gossip, and I was being told to leave? I even pointed out that he had just set two beautiful lattes down at the table of these two ladies who were just settling in to their table (the same one I had actually wanted to sit at.) The server insisted everyone was done. And that I have to leave. I checked their hours on help and it said they're open until 6pm. I didn't want to make a scene so I left but I told my host about it. He's friends with the owner and he was shocked at the way I was treated. For the record, I was the only non-white person inside the cafe. So, never again. And to future customers, go at your own risk. Unless you're white. Then you can move in.

It's a two story place that's nice and quaint. I love the atmosphere of being "clean and green". The waitress was nice she was a little impatient in the beginning since there were a lot of us but then after she saw that we were a very patient group and nothing is a problem for us she became very helpful and nice. I ordered a cafe americano and boy was it good and strong! It's a small serving size but I just got a refill on it. I am a vegan so when I saw the vegan chilaquilles I had to get them. Very tasty and VERY GOOD!! They did a great job with it! The flavor was good. Everyone order was very good and to their liking. Their fruit smoothies are made with water which I LOVE!! I will def recommend this place for clean eating! I will probably come back before I head back home to the states to try their pastries.

The espresso is strong and the drink are not very sweet but they have sugar to help you sweeten it up. I would more than recommend you come here to get you a some coffee. The actual coffee flavor here is 100 times better than the ones at the more popular place across the street. I'd recommend them getting a few more flavors as they only have vanilla but it's still very good.

We were the only patrons when we arrived but there was an amazing guitarist/singer performing so we got our own little private show! She was really so amazing. For food, he got the chilaquiles divorciados (half red sauce, half green sauce) and I got the huevos albanil (eggs on a tortilla with a tomato salsa on top). Both dishes, while simple, were so delicious! I loved the beans, too! They offer a combo, which we both took advantage of, so I got fresh fruit on the side and he got a house-made juice. The combo also comes with 2 cups of coffee and trust me, you want the coffee! It was some of the best I've had in a long time! Our service was great and the courtyard seating area was nice. We also enjoyed checking out the attached art gallery after we finished eating.
