Fresh fruit, veg, bread, milk, ready meals, magazines, cakes, painkillers, washing up liquid etc. It's bright, fresh, clean and the staff are fine. However, I just don't like it. The aisles are far too narrow and between staff stocking shelves and customers trying to move round the shop, it's actually a really uncomfortable and inconvenient store to visit. It's impossible to take any time to browse and look at things as staff and other shoppers will be in the way or trying to squeeze past you. It's a bit of a nightmare; far too much stock, shelving and people crammed into a small store. If I ever do have to go into this Tesco Express (due to some short term insanity or sheer desperation!) I regret doing so immediately. Then I mentally remind myself I must never return, I dodge the bodies, grab what I'm after, pay (there's always queues and a wait ugh) and exit the building ASAP. Enter at your own peril...

Those days are gone since the discovery of the Centra on the Ormeau road. First of all as is standard they make THE BEST sandwiches I have ever locked my jaw around. My first ever Cajun chicken experience was in a Centra and I will never forget it as I mistakenly called it CA-JOHN chicken to the great giddy pleasure of my friend. Once you've had it you'll never turn back. I had a Cajun and coleslaw baguette today in fact! The ice cream and hot deli counters in the Ormeau branch are fantastic - the ice cream counter is like something you would see along the street in Rome or somewhere else that is famous for its ice creams! All the colours and flavours are a delight to behold. The deli offers your usual sausage rolls and the like. They do have something I have never seen before which is hot pizzas ready to eat in five minutes - obviously not handmade by some gorgeous Italian chef but decent enough for a snack at lunch time. Aye, old Centra is hard to beat! Didn't give five stars because the queues can be very long sometimes - more staff needed perhaps?

I'm a fan of Mash Direct products and there's a good selection here. There's a lot packed into this centra - an ice cream counter, large selection of chilled & frozen foods, sweet & savoury snacks, drinks and freshly baked items. Despite holding so much stock it's an easier store to navigate than a lot of others. Very good little grocery outlet.

Only one drawback exists - this Spar is located near Queen's University and in a main student residential area, hence it's swamped with customers during uni term time. Looking drab from the outside, inside is a bustle of colour and noise, busy with people and packets with labels I couldn't read. After dandering up and down the aisles I finally asked a really lovely girl about the dumpling wrappers. She laughed in a nice way at the idea of me making my own and showed me what she used to make hers (from scratch, the show off) but then took me to the wrappers. Thank goodness she did, I would have been there for weeks. The selection of dried, pickled, canned and fresh goods is astounding. The fruit and veg section puts the big supermarkets to shame in quality and price. This shopping experience was a roaring success. Lets hope my dumplings are too!

The Asia supermarket looks more like a factory than a place that sells food. The layout, as other reviewers have mentioned is vast and scatty, but if you have your wits about you, you may just come out with something weird and wonderful, and tasty too hopefully! I would recommend getting some seaweed, a big block of Tofu (really good value) or some yummy miso soup. There are also big bags of spices, bags of rice so huge they could kill a man and some great traditional chinese vegetables. A little haven.

Love that everything on offer is vegan and reasonably priced with a wealth of options to choose from e.g. filled wraps, bagels, salads, stews, soups, cakes and tray bakes. It's also heaven to have a choice of plant-based milks for coffee i.e. oat, almond or soy - such an improvement on offerings found at other Belfast cafes. My food was delicious and coffee flawless. In this, the age of excess hipster cafes, unfortunately it's still difficult to find good coffee, but thankfully 387 offers exceptional coffee. Additionally, this place doubles up as a health food shop with shelves, a freezer and a cooler brimming with goodies. After enjoying my coffee and food I did a mini grocery shop stocking up on vegan cheese, tofurkey slices, sausages, burgers, soups and chilli mayo. A lovely, relaxed spot with friendly, helpful staff and outside seating for sunny days. Decor is natural, focused on muted grey shades, wooden furniture, soft lighting and green plants. Everything about this cafe is synonymous with ease, relaxation and quality. I'm very glad 387 has arrived on the Belfast food scene and hope it flourishes. I will definitely be back.

If anyone wants to do Chinese cookery, you won't have to go anywhere else, whatever you need, this shop has the lot. OK, you may think I'm being a bit over the top here, but trust me, and you don't have to take my word for it, you will be overjoyed when you visit, so much so, you won't use anyone else. If you like to cook, chances are you'll have those wee cylinders of herbs and spices bought for a couple of quid each in your larder. Lee Foods do bags of spices at a fraction of the cost. Did you know that chillis freeze really well? I bought a big bag of bird's eye chillis for a quid or thereabouts, I take them out of the cooler to thaw when I need some. Do you have an awesome looking recipe for a Thai salad, or a curry paste, or want to make tamales but you don't know where to get fresh papaya, real turmeric or banana leaves? Lee Foods will have it. It outperforms the major supermarkets in many different ways. More choice, better prices, weird and wonderful stuff you might not have heard of before. There's nowhere else like it in town.

There is an extensive range of fresh food items and other things not normally found in your average high street store or supermarket. Fruit and vegetables, dried and tinned goods as well as things like phone cards for those calling to those back home. I ended up getting chicken breasts the last time I was there, not sure why but I somehow felt obliged to make a purchase. There is quite a lot of competition in the area from the Asia Supermarket and neighbouring convenience stores. This is something that is really aimed as a hub for the Asian and African community in the area.
