I had purchased the extended warranty on an air conditioner that only lasted just over a year. When I returned it, Curt had to have the service person look at it first, to only to come back to say it's wasn't fixable. He even sent me the invoice of purchase which showed I purchased the extended warranty but never initiated to then send that into the manufacture until I had to call him. Living in a very small town, and especially during a global pandemic, I get that provision of some goods and services will be compromised. But Karl's of Madison has redefined incompetence and lack of concern for customer service! I made multiple in-store and phone requests for goods and services over a two-week period and every one of them was ignored. The staff lost my parts/services orders, failed to return phone calls related to multiple outstanding parts/services requests, and failed to provide promised technical/repair consultations. Indeed, over a 10-day period recently, a disturbing amount of my workday was devoted to calling Karl's to ask when I would get the parts/services promised. After nearly 2-weeks of fighting this fight, I gave up. No human should have to work this hard (and inconvenience themselves this much!) to attain basic services from a retail outlet that professes to be committed to providing excellent customer service. This is outrageous! I have traveled the world and I've never encountered such indifference and incompetence requiring so much painful personal effort and inconvenience on the part of the customer to attain basic services. In short, your store is absolutely AWFUL! So... as to the question posed on your website "how did we do?"... I can provide a simple answer... YOU DID AWFUL! We pride ourselves on supporting small-town businesses, but this Karl's outlet taught us what idiots we are subscribing to such a philosophy and why we should instead take our business to the likes of Lowes and HomeDepot. The past couple of week's have been very trying for many of us in Lake count due to the recent flooding. To add anything more to the stress of flood clean up, doesn't seem possible. However, this was just the case for my husband and me. Last night I made my second trip out to the garage for the evening to get some food from our upright freezer only to find that it was no longer working. I attempted to call the manufacturer's customer service and was on hold for over 10 minutes before switching over to their online chat feature. The guidance given did not fix my issue, so I called the licensed repair business my manufacturer referred me to and left messages. I took a leap of faith and called Karl's and got Denise. She was so empathetic to all my husband and I had been through over the past week and half. She placed me on hold and advised that they had a similar size freezer left in their store. She placed me on hold once more and confirmed the delivery guys, Nick and Tobie, could deliver it that same evening. Within about 30 minutes, the new freezer was in my garage saving us a great deal of money on spoiled food. At the time, to say they went above and beyond was an understatement. My call to Karl's was at 6:36 PM. This means all of this great service occurred after their hours of operation. I will forever be grateful to Denise, Nick and Tobie for being my heroes on a day that was filled with more bad news than just a broken freezer. With all of the destruction that occurred in the Madison, SD area with the recent flooding, I can only predict that Karl's has been very busy delivering new appliances to flood victims. To know that they are there to help those of us in need during what I can only imagine has been a very hectic time for their business, is a true blessing. We purchased a kitchen set- stove, frig, microwave, dishwasher from Karl's in Madison, SD about 3 years ago. Great service, great information, great delivery and follow-up by Denise in the office and the delivery, set-up crew when installing. Last week our frig "died" on us. I called the customer service number in the manuals and after long holds and back and forth, I was told someone would be able to come out in 3 weeks to do a diagnostic check to see what the problem was. Sorry, but 3 weeks with no frig in August was not acceptable to me! I decided to call Denise in Madison to see what my next option would be. I guess I should have known I would receive exceptional service, but I still am in amazement with how they helped us out. Denise told me her service guys were booked up for the day, but she would see what she could do. Well, serviceman, Alexander, showed up at our door about 6:30 that night after completing his full shift for the day. He came in, did the check, determined the problem, explained what happened and how they would fix it, cleaned up and was gone. The next day, he called to say he had ordered the new parts and wanted to schedule the install so we'd be ready when the parts arrived. Also, the following day, two delivery guys (I regret that I didn't get their names) were at the door with a loaner frig to use until ours could be fixed. Also super guys--friendly, efficient and neat. (A very nice loaner, I might add--clean and in great condition.) Yesterday, Alexander arrived even earlier than our scheduled appointment to repair the frig and had the job completed faster than he told me it would take. Again, very professional, explaining what he was doing, what to expect and very neat and tidy. I can't tell you how I appreciate the service that is provided by your store and all the staff. You ease the frustration that comes with having a major appliance break down. Big box stores will never be getting my business for purchases I can get at Karl's. It is so refreshing to have store employees that truly care and go the extra mile to ensure their customers are taken care of. I would recommend (and have!) Karl's to anyone shopping for appliances and audio equipment. THANKS!! read more

I just purchased a refrid-stove-dishwater-micro wave from Karl's in Madison, so. dak. I can't say enough for the people who work there.Denise is so knowledgeable about the products. Don't ever let her go she makes your business...service is the key and Denise provides it. I cant say enough for Alex and the two guys who do the delivery and set up.....they are people persons. They are so friendly and careful about moving things in and out. Alex is a god send...a very knowledgeable young man...with a physics degree you may not keep him long unless you pay him an excellent wage.
