We had visited…read moreanother restaurant for some "real German" food (Treffpunkt), but found that the size and intensity of their meals was not something we could do every day. Then our pension hostess recommended Kajute and it was perfect. We took notice of only the simplest part of the menu, but it was excellent. Apart from the obvious -- sausages in various combinations -- a really good bet there is the "Eintopf," a huge bowl of soup that contains pretty much everything; it's not a stew but a real soup; delicious and satisfying. A half liter of Detmolder Landbier tops off any good meal, and they have it on tap. The gentleman who might be the proprietor has enough good English to serve you.

However in summer months and on hot evenings, this restaurant has an amazing amount of outdoor seating both to the front, rear, and in their umbrella covered bar that opens up in good conditions.
