If you're looking for Tai Chi instruction then you most likely already know it is an 'internal', meditative martial art, as is Qi Gung, and others. Often, I've found, the internal is over-looked in typical Tai Chi classes. Not the case at East/West, where both outer and inner forms are taught. Michael, the instructor, has decades of experience and it shows. The price is right, the instruction is top shelf, so if you're ready for the experience, this is the place. P.S. Our sons left feeling down after being belittled and yelled at by Chay repeatedly during classes. When we tried to address this, he yelled and tried to do the same to my husband. All while my husband was holding our sleeping toddler. We tried to get a refund obviously because there is no way I am taking my sons back there. He broke the trust and confidence we had. We would not be leaving our children in his guidance any longer. He of course said that his contract clearly states he does not give refunds. What a bunch of crap. So disappointing. I feel so bad that I put my kids through that. Ugh. Please stay away from him. At least I hope I can save other families the heartache we experienced. I also hope he loses business's because of my post and his reputation is hurt. This is no way to run a business nor treat people.

This is my first martial arts practice I have taken so I don't have experience comparing it to other dojos or studios. The place is located in the business park of Cedarburg. Walking in there is a waiting area with magazines and about a dozen chairs to watch the main room that is about 25' x 80' equipped with kick boxing bags, mixed martial arts bags (holdable bags that represent the torso of a human), focus mitts, and tons more of equipment. There are separete changing rooms for men and women with lockers and hooks for your jackets. There is a smaller room off to the side that has the same equipment but is around 15' x 40'. In the back there is a room that is just as big as the front room that he uses as a before/after school program (which he picks kids up from school) and a workout room. Master Chay, who teaches most of the classes himself is a 6th (maybe even 7th) degree black belt that will work you out harder than anything you have done. I go on Monday and Wednesday at 7:15-8:15 for Krav Maga, which is an Israeli martial arts. I also go on Saturday at 9 AM for Cardio Kickboxing. I highly recommend Master Chay to parents and kids who are looking for a workout while learning self defense and discipline.
