Avoid this place like the plague. This is single handedly the most laziest and deceitful shop I have ever set foot in. After delaying my order by six weeks, they then have the audacity to refuse a full refund, and delay by a further 4 weeks.
My order was placed in the middle of June 2013, after having to visit the shop on 2 occasions, once to pick the suit and once to get my fiancee measured for her fit as their staff cannot take measurements without their tailor. A watch would have been a good investment for the tailor as she arrived considerably later than promised the following day, which wasted 45 minutes of my life. They then refused to take any measurements without a £300 deposit to ensure that I wasn't wasting their time and I would definitely purchase the suite.
Having cleared that obstacle, the staff told my fiancee that they will have the wedding suite ready within 2 weeks (start of July), to match her measurements; The rapid turnaround time was due to the fact that they could just alter another suite they had in their warehouse. This sounded too good to be true, but never having shopped with them I took their word for it and so I left the cash deposit and thought I would I would come back to pay the rest of the £1800 sum off over the weekend, which I did. However the card machine was broken, so I had to take £300 out of the cashpoint nearby on one occasion and then come back the following day with the rest of the money from my bank in hard cash. I was presented with a hand written receipt and they kept a counterpart A4 sheet, both dated the 17th of june.
We rang promptly at the start of July, to be fobbed off with the usual excuses "wedding season, very busy, will be done within 2 weeks", which was repeated 2 weeks later; finally deciding getting a little worried, at the start of August, I sent my fiancee to visit the store since the telephone was usually very busy, unanswered or they had a mammoth task of finding our order details every single time. Upon visiting the store, no surprises, that it took them an eon to find our order details for the dress ordered, but she was also rudely told that the dress was at the tailors and no work was done to it, as we had not paid anything more than the deposit.
I then followed up with another visit the day after, with my copy of the receipt, and after another lengthy search through their tatty folders, they told me that the suit was upstairs in their stockroom waiting to be picked up. I was fuming at their incompetence as they had both of our mobile numbers, and home numbers (thats 4 different contact numbers), but they made no attempt to tell us this information; As it was almost close of day, they said to come back tomorrow at 4pm for a fitting, and the tailor could make any final adjustments.
My fiancee duly went, and was told to come back the day after, which she refused to do without seeing the dress, as she was getting very suspicious. As it turns out, the dress was completely untouched from the day we saw it first (this is now 6 weeks later). Another measurement was taken, as they 'lost the original'. Another date has now been given for a final fit and adjustment, for august 20th. We are unable to cancel without losing the £300 deposit, otherwise I would have long bed farewell to the rubbish custom provided by Karans.
In summary, stay well away, unless of course you enjoy lying, conniving, deceitful and untrustworthy staff, all of whom have no idea exactly what is going on with your order and will happily spin any tale to keep you from seeing any progress on their behalf. read more
