They do fantastic unconventional haircuts and are great with curls. Their instagram and facebook show some fun offers, like free haircuts or products. They also do a great discount for students and it's even cheaper if you show up to your appointment with clean hair. Yay! There really is nothing comparable in Utrecht!

First impressions: this place is super tiny, a little shabby and also super laid back. Love the…read morelittle bench in the front window. :) Second impression: this place is built on it's (regular) customers! The haircut: My hair is a bitch. That's the best way of putting it. I have straight hairs mixed with frizzy afro hairs which makes getting my hair cut a bitch too. Usually I love my hair for up to a full nine hours after getting it cut and styled properly and end up hating it for about two months with it taking another four months before I even remotely dare to take the plunge again. This time was different. This time (for the first time in my life!!!) my hair was treated as curly hair. Most hairdressers cut my hair like it's straight hair and ignore the frizzles. So, this time my hair was super curly when I left. Not a look I like on myself, but I figured I'd give it a chance and see how it would settle. Again, usually I hate my hair after it settles... Well, the day after I could immediately see that for once a hairdresser had actually done what I'd asked! *gasp* For the first time ever I was actually happy post haircut. For the first time a hairdresser had managed to just trim the dead ends, add some layers and NOT take off half my hair! Amazing! I actually still had long hair when leaving the hairdressers. Which for me has never happened before. Anyway, long story short. In the search for just one hairdresser who really "gets me", I'm not sure this is the one, but while I search high and low, de Kappers will definitely be my go-to whenever I spontaneously decide to get a haircut and I'm in the city anyway. ;) A solid 3.5 stars.

I wanted to get my hair colored and cut. I specifically said that I'm looking to get balayage. They told me that they do that here. Okay, cool. Let's make the appointment. On the day of the appointment, I came in with pictures of the color and cut that I want. As the other reviewer mentioned, the people are nice here. They asked me about my hobbies and what I do for a living. That was great. It was all rainbow and sunshine up until that very point. After seeing the pictures, my hairstylist recommended another type of hair coloring for me. I said that's fine so long as it looks natural. I just want some more color added to my hair (my previous hair color treatment was growing out). I don't think she's ever experienced coloring naturally dark hair before. I sat there for 4 hours. By the 3rd hour of coloring my hair, she put this heating thing over my hair so that my hair would take in the color. Ummm, okay. Needless to say, nothing changed. No color was added to my hair. After 3.5 hours of "coloring" my hair, my hair color remains exactly the same. Now, onto my hair. After washing and drying my hair, my hair stylist spent around 15 minutes cutting my hair. When she was finally "done," I looked at it and was speechless. She asked me if I liked it. I'm usually not the type of person to say I don't like something. When something goes wrong, I just suck it up and move on with life. If it's a bad haircut, fine. It's only hair, it'll grow out one day. At least you've tried so I'm not gonna make things here. Let's not make any waves. However, this is worse than a bad haircut, because my hair was exactly the same as before except for a bang trim. And that was exactly what I said. I told her that it looks like there was no difference. Also, I was pretty sure the back of my hair was uneven. When I had examined it, I pointed that out to her, and she said it's the angle that I was standing at that made it look uneven. Shen then nipped a few pieces and asked me how I like it now. What was I suppose to say. I gritted my teeth and said I liked it (because my hair was exactly the same as I came in. I like my hair before, I just wanted it to be better). After that, I paid and left immediately. Perhaps it's communication issue. However, I came in with pictures, so I was expecting SOME change. To walk out of the hair salon as if I never went in was a waste of 150 euros. Never again.

Best. Recommendation. Ever. The pair of them know what they're doing! They're great with suggestions AND they listen to you! But it's not just these guys, whilst I was in my chair getting my hair did, I saw many customers walk in and out happily- the hairdressers here know what they're doing. Bubblekid currently have two stores, but my local is the one in De Pijp (next door to Omelegg, yum). These guys also stock Kevin Murphy products, which whilst pricey are definitely worth the splurge! The service isn't always 100% when you're in store without an appointment (the shop is huge, great for browsing the 'Things I Like, Things I Love' clothing line and other wares on display), you'll need to book so you're not wondering around aimlessly when they're busy busy busy or expect to be a little bit patient! It's definitely worth it!

After reading reviews, I tried to make an appointment with Simon but it didn't work out so I had my…read morehaircut by Lee. Lee was really nice and funny. The salon does not have mirrors at each chair, which I would have preferred a mirror. My hair isn't exactly what I had in mind and shorter than we discussed. It is also uneven. One chunk of hair on the left side is 1" longer. Not sure how I didn't see it while I was there.
