This was my third time at the location in Burbank. Again, only ONE person working the dining room.. that poor waitress! She was working the entire floor! I saw her busing tables taking orders, bringing checks delivering food and even fulfilling a DoorDash order that ordered and came to pick up. It wasn't very crowded, but it's not fair. It was happy hour. She was very kind, very sweet,, but no one greeted me when I came in. I waited quite a while to get a table, I got seated with my friends. It took forever to get any sort of drinks, ice water, or food. When I got the food, it was the wrong order TWICE in a row. I went home with lots and lots of food left over because I had to take the wrong orders home. I just don't think they're staffed very well...although our waitress was wonderful. We always have an amazing experience at Kalaveras and it is always due to our server, Maira. Since the restaurant has been opened we've always came to eat here and she has always been our server. She checks on us regularly without being intrusive and makes sure our drinks are always full. What really stood out was her genuine enthusiasm and willingness to go the extra mile. I also got to try the loaded steak fries. Wish they had more meat. The decor and big tvs are awesome for games. I made reservations online for Saturday at 12pm. There were only a few customers when we arrived which meant there were plenty of places to sit. Luckily, there was one booth left near the middle wall where I was able to see the entire restaurant. The decor, artwork and music was festive and lively. Bad service and tiny food portions. I recently went to try this place for the first time and they got both of our entires wrong and my husband is allergic to seafood and they brought him a fish taco. When they brought our entires out for the second time, the portions were so small that we had to order an appetizer after finishing our dinner. They gave me super old wine that smelled like vinegar. The food was amazing, especially the dragon roll. We also got the taquitos which were also really good! The service was absolutely amazing and our waitress was so kind and helpful. We ended up ordering the quesobirria tacos and the kali burrito which were both good. It was very vibey inside so it was enjoyable. The only thing I would say is they do a clubish bottle service with signs, whistles, and sparklers for the table so if you think you are going to a regular restaurant, you are not! As a 43 year old California native, I know good Mexican food. Kalveras was mediocre at best. I gave 3 stars as the service was great, attentive and friendly, and the drinks were on point. Beyond that, I'm mad that I have a full stomach but not satisfied. Started with the guac appetizer. More like an avocado paste, super blended, no chunks of anything in it. Ironically, the entrees were garnished with a small scoop of fresh chunky guacamole that would have been excellent as the appetizer. Missed opportunity there. I had the combination platter with a carnitas soft taco, chicken enchilada and chili relleno. These are the staple items I like to order at a new (to me) place to compare quality. The carnitas taco was good, the chicken enchilada had a green pasty crema sauce over it, would have been so much better with fresh tomatillo and the chili relleno seemed like a frozen bake at home relleno would have been about the same. Soggy and didn't feel fresh. The side of rice and beans was sad. "Refried" beans from a can and the rice was probably Uncle Ben's minute Spanish rice. I didn't take a picture of the entree unfortunately, but you didn't miss much. Now, I will say, my sister had the shrimp taco which was a good kind of spicy, and flavorful. The carnitas taco was the best food item I had. I would go back to try other tacos and have a cocktail, they really didn't miss there. As for the ambiance, it was cool, nice murals and lighting. Wish they had jazzed up the old fuddruckers booths a little more, still the same old wood backing and yellow pipe railings which doesn't match the rest of the aesthetics. You'd think a chain as large as this would have the budget to update everything. Overall, I'm not impressed. But like I said, great service, waiter was kind and funny, manager made the rounds to check on everyone, so they definitely got that right which is huge. Kalaveras in Burbank is pretty trendy place to go for happy hour. Open on May 2024, staff and servers are friendly, attentive and welcoming. The happy hour drinks have a variety to choose from mixed, beers to margaritas. We order the half liter Margarita Slushy Mango Chamoy. Oh my goodness, the drink is pretty tasty and plenty of liquor on it. Food selection to dine or appetizers is good variety. The loaded asada fries appetizer is the perfect size for one. The ambiance and the music genre from rancheras, tropicales and top ten. The ambiance and the music is not loud you can have a conversation with your friends. What a delightful experience! Welcome to Burbank. My wife and I had a lovely Friday night dinner at this fresh new hotspot without knowing a thing about Kalavera's. Jesus our server was friendly, courteous, insightful, and very attentive to our needs. Great prices on draft beer. The Kali burrito which is what I had was very good. Her two chicken enchiladas were a little over sauced and not too spicy but adding their homemade habanero Sauce made the difference. The guacamole and chips and pico de gallo were pleasant as well. Overall we will be back to try other entrees on the menu, like the chicken nachos which everyone else seemed to be ordering and looked delicious. This place deserves more stars. I had a great time discovering this place. Their servers are kind, and their food is authentic. There is a warm, fun atmosphere - especially when there is a game on, whether it be baseball, soccer, or football. I ordered the Molè enchiladas which were very delicious and perfectly spiced. I'm a die hard salsera. So I asked our waiter if they would be having salsa/batchata nights soon. It turns out they need a few more weeks to get their events going. Visited Kalaveras as it was a much anticipated restaurant opening in Burbank. Did not realize they would be blasting club music so loudly in the place that you can't even hear the person sitting next to you. At one point I started hearing a whistle blowing and legitimately thought someone was blowing one of those r*pe whistles before all the staff started blowing them for birthdays. Scared the crap out of me to be honest, but then it was unbearably loud to the point I was plugging my ears. And it happened several times during the meal. Sadly there are no free chips and salsa. My food was actually very good, I got the verde enchiladas, but the margaritas were not good at all. My friend got the carnitas and he said they were okay. While we were eating we were talking and wait staff would come by and instruct bus boys to take our plates while we were still eating!! We were not lingering or taking a long time at all to eat. The bus boys were circling like sharks the entire meal it was honestly stressful. But when it came time to pay suddenly no one was around, we ended up waiting maybe 10-15 minutes just to pay the check. Sadly, later that night I got sick and I know it was the food as it was the only thing I ate. It is unlikely I will ever return to this restaurant. If you want great food, service and atmosphere I recommend you visit Don Cuco's up the street instead. Never had a bad experience there. read more

We had the best time at this restaurant. The vibes were great with tv screens all around playing music videos. I'm giving a big shout out to Carlos who was our server. He was so attentive and made sure everyone was happy and satiated with the delicious food. The food came out quickly and the quality was on par with what you were paying. I went to Kalaveras in NOHO for a birthday and the food was really good so wanted to try a different location. NOHO at night time was superrrr loud with nonstop birthday celebrations. If you aren't into loud music and even louder birthday celebrations, I wouldn't recommend it but we loved the atmosphere and energetic vibes! Service at the Burbank location was great! The food was good too. Parking can be a little crowded but free in the parking deck near by. The location on the street is also in a really nice clean safe area. Great for a celebration since they have a ton of tables for large parties. You can pay for birthday shots to be brought to your table with fun sparklers and noise makers presentation which is what we did on our first visit. read more

Vibe and drinks were good. If you're not fond of loud music then this is probably not the best place for you. The nachos were good although the carnitas were lacking flavor (the meat was tender though so that was a plus). The burrito was not great; sauce was the only thing saving it. For context, we went at around 9:30pm and it was moderately busy. We waited about 10 minutes (?) for our drink order to be taken but that wasn't a problem whatsoever and the drinks came quickly after. Back to the burrito, the carne asada was tough and mostly fat and nerves. The rice and beans inside were good but it was hard to get over the fact that a good amount of the meat was difficult to chew or just fat. I liked the sauce that came on it but if you're not a fan of mostly lemony or acidic flavor then you might not like it. The nachos were the best part for sure. The chips were crunchy the whole time and did not become soggy; and their flavor was amazing. Overall it was a decent experience. I think the burrito probably just wasn't the best thing to order from there. I would probably come back to check out their happy hour. Service was good as well; we were checked on frequently and our waiter was attentive. Drinks were good!!! I suggest the mango chamoyada. read more

This place was FABULOUS and all I wanted to do here was eat, dance and have some drinks. The service was impeccable as well. They always kept on top of their customers.
