I love the JCC! It's a very welcoming place and the staff are lovely. I've attended the GEMS Senior programs which are really interesting and fun as well as the family holiday celebrations. The holiday celebration programs for young kids are excellent. There is always a craft involved as well as a story and food and my grandson loves attending. The GEMS programs include history, art, Israeli dancing, films and current events. Programs are reasonably priced and some are free. I became a "member friend" of the JCC for a nominal monthly fee because I want to support their programs. read more

All the GEMS events I've been to are fun and exciting. I went to a klezmer concert with my girlfriend. It was superb. A trumpeter (who's an old friend of mine) gave an excellent performance. I enjoy working out there and swimming outdoors. read more

I love going here with my 7 kids. Never had any issues, the organizers and the teachers also very accommodating.

I just cancelled my membership - horrific customer service and terrible facilities. I tried to use the baby pool with my little ones and they close the pool for camp 9-3:30 every day in the summer. And even though I am a paying member and both pools were empty due to lunchtime for campers, they wouldn't let me allow my baby & toddler to use the baby pool for 20 minutes AFTER their front desk clerk told me it was open and I spent 20 minutes getting everyone into swim diapers, required plastic pants and swim trunks. When I pleaded my case, they said that they couldn't do anything about it. So I did - I took my money elsewhere. They told me it would take 60 days to cancel and I told them that if I got charged for a MINUTE more let alone 60 more days, I would file a complaint with the owner and investigate legal options. I am a reasonable person but I am also logical and if a pool is empty and a member is standing there asking for 20 minutes in the BABY POOL you oblige. No negotiating - you just oblige. read more

The Kaiserman JCC has Great facilities and friendly staff. If you are bored and want to go somewhere where you can hang out, go to the JCC. They have two basketball courts, a weight room with nice equipment, a track, and a pool to swim laps. Anytime spent at the JCC is a fun time. read more

This is a review for both the daycare and the gym -- The daycare has classes divided by age of the child. My kiddo seems happy there and she just started, so maybe that's all that really matters. However, there are a some pros and a bazillion and one cons... FOR THE DAYCARE: PROS: - You, the parent, can easily drop off the kid and go for a work out. They're group classes seem to be timed to be just after school starts so it is convenient - Staff seem to be flexible with your needs if within their restricted hours. - Entire JCC is enclosed so at least you know when your child is running outside, there is minimal traffic and no strangers wandering about - Your child's tuition covers the cost of gym membership for you and spouse CONS: - Lunches are supposed to be nut free AND meat free - Lots of school closures for both christian and jewish days off - Lots of random rules (ex. if your child is wearing a skirt on gym day, forget it. She will be sitting on the sidelines) - Classes are not anywhere close to racially diverse. AT ALL. - Restricted hours: for any household with two working adults, you will have to deal with a 9a to 3:30p day care schedule with an "early care" option starting at 8am. This is pretty unbelievable considering the car traffic around here. FOR THE GYM: PROS: - As above, the link with the daycare seems to be the best reason to use this place - Sauna (but it is co-ed) - Several group classes offered CONS: - Everything is outdated even though they apparently just renovated the bathrooms. - Kiddie pool is kind of a joke... it's just a shallow outdoor pool that is covered with a thin film of dead flies and leaves - No towel service - The place reminds me of a YMCA ... from the 1960s. Overall though, I'm still using this place primarily due to location convenience and the ease of working out. I don't require a lot in a gym other than just needing the machines to work so this is fine enough for me. But just beware of the many many drawbacks that come along with it. read more

If you enjoy swimming in a pool closed at least once a week because a kid (or, apparently, on occasion) an old fart takes a dump in it, you'll love the Kaiserman JCC! Why they can't prohibit anyone wearing a diaper (whether it's Pampers or Depends) from the pool is beyond me. And be cautious of the hot tub -- some 90-year-old actually died in it a couple years ago. In general, the JCC seems poorly run, although they did finally give the boot to the old manager. The place tends to be dirty -- the locker rooms could serve as mold and athlete's foot breeding laboratories -- and the maintenance is spotty (burned out lights in the basketball gym remain unchanged for months on end). And the roof often leaks when it rains, leaving the carpet soaked and smelling like a dirty dog. And why pay for a membership when you can walk in for free most of the time -- it seems as if every kid in a five-mile radius is in there playing basketball for hours on end. They just walk by the front desk or have friends open up the fire doors. So, why do I give it two stars instead of one? Well, it is convenient, the workout facilities are decent and there's some good programming. But the Kaiserman JCC needs to raise its game or it faces losing a lot of members when the new YMCA opens up in Havertown. read more

I love this place! It's a community center and, it feels that way. The halls are full of "Hello" or "good morning" and include people from all walks of life. You begin to recognize and chat with people you meet regularly. The 9:15 group fitness classes are delightfully challenging yet can be adapted for those on the learning curve as well as those recovering from injury. Great instructors! There are many other classes as well. The Robert J. Wilf Preschool and Kindergarten has nurturing, creative teachers and happy children (infants through kindergarten). Camp Kef (Kef means Fun) was voted Best Camp on the Main Line 2016. The summer swim club is active on weekends and after day camp closes each day. Aqua Zumba is fun! Evenings often have an added activity. Nana's Kitchen is a yummy café in the front lobby and also serves at the pool. Order the hummus or falafel platter among other relish dishes! read more

This facility is terrible. I use gym there but the customer service is just horrible. They have a new gym director Melissa but she is a complete idiot. Her knowledge about fitness and customer service is very inferior. I was disapointed with JCC that they hired her. The fitness rooms are dirty, extremely dirty. There is dust everywhere, The amount of equipment is very limited as well. I only went there because my membership was free but if I had to pay for that kind of place I would never do that. This place needs better directors and better administration. Also my bag was stolen there and I lost a lot of cash and other important things. I would not recommend this place to anyone.... read more

I go there when I can't get to the Y to work out, because the JCC is close to home. Weird atmosphere. There's an older gentleman who sits next to the front desk, and spends hours either staring at people or talking on the phone. (I heard all about catfish at Virginia Beach while waiting at the desk.) Is he a member, an employee? What? I find it very off-putting. Classes are okay, but the instructors never check the participants' form, do not offer alternatives for those of us who have sports injuries and can't do all the moves, and seem more interested in self than others. I don't like listening to rap radio, including commercials, while I work out with a group. Like I said, it's close, and is better than nothing when my schedule is tight. read more

This review is the Kids Time program. As a working parent there are only two daycare options, the JCC and MELC. The J is wonderful. I am so glad that MELC ran out of space for us three years ago. We've been taking our kids to the JCC for preschool for a few years now. The preschool is fantastic, first and foremost because of the great teachers who work there. There is really no comparison with the for-profit daycare we previously attended, in terms of teacher quality, resources, teacher to child ratios. Most of the teachers have been there for years, some even decades, and they really connect with the kids. The infant room is fantastic, I could not have wished for a better or more loving environment for our baby to be in. In addition, the kids get access to music, aquatics, team sports, lots of outside space to play, and gym through the JCC (as do the parents). Not having to drag kids to activities on the weekends is awesome. The late care and after-school care programs are also nice, with a variety of activities and fantastic staff. The whole place feels like family, with a lot of positive energy all around. There is truth to what the others have written about the facilities being older, and there are lots of holidays (all lower Merion days off and major Jewish holidays), so you need to have backup care lined up and budgeted for. But it is a price worth paying if you want a great environment for your kids. There is not a lot of racial diversity in the preschool, as one comment pointed out, but this is a problem for most of the Mainline, unfortunately. There are many international families, many diverse backgrounds. Certainly, the preschool and the JCC open their doors to everyone and treats everyone the same, no matter what their background is. Overall, we are very happy. Our kids are in amazing hands, and the environment makes us feel like we really belong, are a part of a family. No amount of fancy new facilities can replace that. read more

The JCC has lost so many members and it can be directly attributed to the lack of proper management. The pool is only open in the summer and is the only reason to be there. The sauna is meh, the steam room has no steam, and the place is at times unsafe and dirty. The ceiling tiles are rotting. It's as if they don't care. It's very sad to see this place go downhill so quickly. read more
