Cuzzo, her husband and their kid mentioned going to the mall to get her and the kid's hairs done. They asked if me, Hubbers and Big Bro wanted to come along.
Eh, why not, we had nothing better to do.
So we drop them two off at the salon, then the rest of us took off since we wanted to grub on something not from this mall!
Cuzzo-in-law took us here instead. (For someone who hasn't lived in Pangasinan for so long, it's surprising he knows where to go!)
Came through for a late-ish lunch grub, it looked like they were nearing the end of a lunch rush. There were still a few tables occupied, so they were probably busy. It wasn't long before we got seated and given menus.
We all started out with a round of San Miguel Light (to quench that thirst!) and water. It didn't take long before we made up our minds what to get. We all wanted to eat, but something more to the likes of between a meal and a snack, nothing to bring us close to a food coma. So we got stuff to sorta just pick on.
ENSALADANG TALONG: I think the simplicity of this dish is what makes it perfect. Peeled eggplant (boiled or grilled to soften the inside), tomatoes, onions and bagoong. This is an excellent starter, app, or a side to a main dish. Me likey!
BEEF BBQ: It was on the grill a bit too long, it was well done borderline burnt. Although the char added to the texture and flavor, it made the meat chewy and hard. Almost beef jerky-like. This one is a miss.
PORK BBQ: This they cooked better vs the beef. It was tender and juicy and came with great flavor. Even the bit of char added to the experience. This was yum.
GRILLED LIEMPO: Also prepped well like the pork BBQ. Prepped simple - just salt and pepper. The pork's flavor really came through. Did I mention it was tender and juicy? They got this one right.
CRISPY HIPON: Two words: GET THIS! I couldn't stop with this, one after another after another, peel and head and all! The crisp, the crunch, the flavor. It wasn't greasy either. It didn't need the vinegar to tame the taste it was good all by itself! But yeah, get this!

I was close to ordering another plate of crispy hipon, but we had dinner plans, so it was kinda hard to pull back. But I guess I know what I'm getting should there be a next time! Looking forward to that. read more
