As soon as I changed into a job with a predictable schedule, I was determined to get my pup. I did a ton of research on breeders, rescues, pet shops etc. What I found was that while rescues are much cheaper (and are a FANTASTIC option for some people), I wanted a very specific type of dog, specific age, size, etc. I did put in numerous applications for pups when I saw them, but as I had not had a dog before, I had no vet records, and got turned away from the rescues. I also have heard very bad stories of pet shop puppies coming from mills. I decided that a breeder was the way to go. I wanted to visit the breeder before I put my deposit down and called around to a lot of them. Some refused to allow me to come and see their locations before I gave them money, immediate no. I called Lynne at Fountain Falls and she was super sweet. She was patient and walked me through all the questions that I had. I decided to visit her and see where the puppies were kept. She has a gorgeous property with a ton of fenced-in land where she allows her dogs to run and play. She has a great indoor/covered patio area where she has the pups stay/learn about the outdoors in a contained environment. I decided to put a deposit down on a pup for a future litter. I was able to meet the parents of my pup and they had great personalities. This was one of the most important thing for me when I was looking for a breeder as anyone can have puppies, but it was important for me to find someone who actually knew what they were doing and how to match dogs. Lynne definitely knew what she was doing. She used to work with special needs children, so Lynne reserves the right with all her litters to reserve one or two puppies to give away as service dogs. This was a big positive for me as if her dogs can and do pass as service dogs, they have to be smart and sweet. My pup is both of these. When it came time for me to choose, I had 2 pups that I really liked and was debating between. I had told Lynne that I had planned on having my dog certified as a therapy dog and have her be able to go into hospitals and nursing homes and spend time with people. I also told her that I planned on having children around the house in the next few years. She told me that while both the dogs that I was debating would be great pets, she felt that one of them would be a better therapy dog than the other. One was more curious and more of a leader and would not be afraid of uncertain environments. She recommended me the pup that I have now, and I am so happy that she did. My dog is great. One other note is that she introduces the dogs to all different things/sounds/stimuli so they are not fearful when they grow up. My only note about Lynne is that she doesn't always respond to emails immediately. She is prompt, but is not at her computer all the time. This is also a good thing because it shows that she is spending time with the puppies. Overall I loved working with Lynne. She was kind, knowledgeable, and a great breeder. Would definitely recommend her to others.

I didn't want to take the puppy to animal control as I feared it would be put down. I waited and waited for someone to return my calls from SANG but nobody did. Eventually I had no other option but to take the puppy to animal control (she's doing good right now. no danger of being put down.) I just waited around for half the day for someone to call me back and at least inform me that they couldn't take the animal. Even days later I never got a response. At least then I would know that I didn't have other options.

Maybe they were just overwhelmed, but responding to calls is part of the gig if you want people to trust that you are doing the work that you're are accepting donations for ( I'm just sayin').
