The Kansas/Missouri border dispute is a tale with many sides and angles (fair disclosure, I come down on the "Missouri" side of it) and you're going to get a different take everytime you ask a Kansas or Missouri resident (at least one educated enough to have a legitimate opinion) about it. What the Lawrence Visitors' Center contributes is an excellently-produced (on what is clearly a limited budget) 45 minute film of the history of Lawrence, a significant portion of which very calmly and dispassionately explains the history of the border dispute and what both sides claim happens. Think Ken Burns' "Civil War" series if you want to conjure the tone. You're also going to find an absurd amount of brochures and guide books on visiting Kansas, all for free, along with friendly, often elderly, volunteers who will talk your darn ear off about their Sunflower State. Not a great service. I had requested a luxury sedan for my daughter and her groom on her wedding…read moreday, to take them from the venue, to the church, and back. I specifically asked for one I saw on the website. Tami stated that "it was the oldest and smallest but if that is what I wanted, that was fine". I said I did not see other sedans, only an SUV, which I did not want. She stated they were getting a newer one in soon. I told her that would be great. What picked up my daughter on her wedding day was a small crossover SUV. So plain and small, just an ordinary car. It was ridiculous. But of course, you are required to pre-pay the whole amount, so there is nothing you can do. The day after the wedding I emailed to express my disappointment. Tami asked what they could do to make it right. I requested a 50% refund. She agreed. I never got it, even though I have emailed two more times.

"Dave" was there bright eyed and bushy tailed. Nice vehicle, good conversation, door-to-door service. No MCI parking, no schlepping suitcases, no worries. Loved it!!

It's a very subpar and old hotel. It needs a complete upgrade, outside and inside. An outdated…read morelobby, many things did not work or were broken. Slashed lamp shades; not enough bathroom supplies; empty kleenex box; the smoke/carbon dioxide device was hanging off the ceiling - not sure if it even worked? I could go on with the problems. There was a nice hotel staff behind the desk though. We never even got our wake up call. I will never revisit this place.
